It Sure Sounds Like ‘Alien Vs. Predator' May Return In the Future
Friday at San Diego Comic-Con offered fans a rare opportunity to hear from two of the people primarily responsible for major franchises, in the same place, on the same day. And that's exactly what happened in both the Alien: Earth and Predator: Badlands panels, which both took place in Hall H.
First up, at the Alien: Earth panel, a fan asked showrunner and creator Noah Hawley if Alien vs. Predator was something we might see in the future. 'I don't have any current involvement in that combo package,' Hawley said. 'But I love seeing that Dan Trachtenberg is continuing with the Predator series. This new movie looks great, and my question is, 'Can't we all just get along?''
An expert passing of the buck, to say the least. But, fast forward a few hours, and the person Hawley passed the buck to was on the same stage. Moderator Kevin Smith asked Trachtenberg about if the fact that Weyland Yutani, a company from Alien, is in Predator: Badlands is teasing at an eventual showdown. 'I think sometimes people that are dabbling in cinematic universes, there's a seduction to grab all the action figures and smush them all together,' Trachtenberg said. 'And I really didn't want to do that, and I really wanted to make sure if we ever do something, it would be a little more elegant.' Smith pressed him for more. Could he, the person now responsible for Predator, bring Aliens in? 'Wouldn't it be cool?' the director added. The crowd roared.
Of course, one person not in attendance who'd have a say in this, outside of the executives paying for everything, is Fede Alvarez. Alvarez made last year's Alien Romulus and is expected to return to that world in the future. But, since Trachtenberg is clearly linking his Predator movies with Alien and continues to expand the Predator franchise by bringing back iconic characters like Danny Glover's Lt. Harrigan and Arnold Schwarzenegger's Dutch, there's clearly a larger plan in place (oh, you didn't hear about that? Yes, that happened). And that plan may just be heading toward the Alien and Predator sharing the screen one more time.

When she finds herself bewitched by an unproblematic man, she dives deeper and deeper into a relationship that can only end badly. Too Much might be too much for some, but for most, it's a sharp, witty comedy about people who can't get out of their own way. You can watch Too Much on Netflix. Sakamoto Days (2025-) Adapted from a manga of the same name, Sakamoto Days is a brilliant new anime series about a hitman who makes the choice to retire for love, only to find that he can't leave his past as far behind as he might have hoped. The contrast between the central character's quiet family life and the things he has to do to maintain it gives Sakamoto Days much of its juice, but the show's pacing is excellent. Its willingness to shift from mundane to thrillingly violent in an instant is guaranteed to keep you on your toes. You can watch Sakamoto Days on Netflix. Adolescence (2025) Adolescence was a major hit for Netflix, but if you haven't caught this four-part miniseries yet, it's certainly worth your time. The show follows the aftermath of a teenage boy's arrest for the murder of one of his classmates. Across the four episodes, we learn more about the kid, his school, his family, and the detectives investigating the crime. Although it can be a harrowing watch for anyone trying to raise kids in the world we're living in, Adolescence is also a show that dares to ask questions without easy answers and leaves you to sit with every unsettling detail. You can watch Adolescence on Netflix. Dept. Q (2025-) Anchored by a brilliant central performance from Matthew Goode, Dept. Q is one of the most heralded new series that Netflix has released this year. The show follows a detective who is coming back to work following an incident that paralyzed his partner and killed another cop. Wracked by guilt, he's tasked with solving a cold case that slowly envelopes his entire life. While the idea of obsession in detective work is not exactly new, Goode breathes new life into his character. While Dept. Q can be dark, that doesn't mean it's particularly hard to watch. You can watch Dept. Q on Netflix. Everybody's Live with John Mulaney (2025-) Netflix has largely avoided making its own version of a late-night talk show until Everybody's Live with John Mulaney. The series, while technically a late-night show, is much weirder than what you might expect from network alternatives. Mulaney is willing to experiment and willing to make his audience and his guests a little bit uncomfortable in the process. The show is wildly funny, but part of the joy of watching is the show's unpredictability, even if that means that not every moment or bit is perfect. You can watch Everybody's Live with John Mulaney on Netflix. Sirens (2025-) Another soapy, insanely fun show to make its debut on Netflix this year, Sirens follows two sisters who have taken wildly divergent paths through life as they reunite. When one discovers that the other has become the personal assistant of a hugely wealthy and slightly deranged woman, she begins to suspect that their relationship is not a healthy one. Anchored by a trio of great performances from Megahnn Fahey, Milly Alcock, and Julianne Moore, Sirens features some beautiful sets and locations and also manages to be a fairly sharp satire of a particular kind of wealthy person. You can watch Sirens on Netflix. Forever (2025-) Sometimes all you need in a compelling TV show is two young actors with remarkable chemistry. Forever has a relatively simple premise. It follows two former childhood friends who reunite as teenagers and fall heartbreakingly, desperately in love with one another. As they realize that being in love is not enough to make their lives any easier, they deal with all the heartache and yearning that comes with any first love. Forever would be nothing without its central performers, Lovie Simone and Michael Cooper Jr., who make every scene they share sing. You can watch Forever on Netflix. The Residence (2025-) Uzo Aduba has been making her bones on Netflix since the streamer first launched original comedies, and with The Residence, she finally gets the chance to lead her own show. In the series, she plays an eccentric detective called to the White House to solve a murder that occurred at a state dinner. Although the show could be too political, The Residence manages to keep a rather light tone. It's a careful and impressive balancing act. You can watch The Residence on Netflix. Apple Cider Vinegar (2025-) Based on a strange, frightening true story, Apple Cider Vinegar tells the story of two women who, in parallel, begin selling their millions of followers on alternative medicine, even as they begin to realize that what they're selling doesn't work the way they say it does. Anchored by another brilliant performance from Kaitlyn Dever, Apple Cider Vinegar is an unsettling story about the very idea of wellness and why so many people are looking for alternative remedies. The View's annual summer hiatus snuck up on us this year. Unfortunately, if you were hoping to tune into the hit daytime talk show this morning, you'll be disappointed to learn that ABC won't be airing a new episode today, or for the rest of the summer. Fortunately for those who never miss a day at the Hot Topics table, you'll still be able to catch up on reruns. Michael Rapaport Under Fire From Social Media Users For Dismissing Hulk Hogan's Controversial Past: 'I Don't Care'
Actor and comedian Michael Rapaport is facing intense backlash from social media users for what many see as his dismissing Hulk Hogan's controversial past, which includes a racist rant and claims of infidelity from his ex-wife, Linda Hogan. Michael Rapaport Dismisses Hulk Hogan's Controversial Past, Including His Racist Rant, In A New Video In a new video, Rapaport, 55, addressed the "disrespect" he claims to have seen online about Hogan since his death in late July 2025. "That's what we're not going to do," he said, adding, "We're not going to be disrespecting Hulk Hogan." As Rapaport continued, the podcast host said he remained unbothered by Hogan's "controversy outside of the ring." "I don't care about his endorsing [Donald] Trump, I don't care about the stuff that was controversial, we're not going to be disrespecting the man with the 18-inch pythons," he added. "Forget you as an adult, sicko," Rapaport continued. "Think about the kids." Hulk Hogan Used Racist Language During A Previous Conversation Although Rapaport didn't specify which of Hogan's past controversies he was dismissing, many users assumed he was referring to the infamous 2007 racist rant in which Hogan expressed disappointment with his daughter, Brooke Hogan, for dating a Black man, admitting, "I guess we're all a little racist." In the transcript, which was confirmed and published by several sources, Hogan was also quoted saying, "I mean, I'd rather if she was going to f-ck some n-gger, I'd rather have her marry an 8-foot-tall n-gger worth a hundred million dollars!" Shortly after, the WWE cut ties with Hogan, declaring in a statement that its company was "committed to embracing and celebrating individuals from all backgrounds." Social Media Users Rip Rapaport Over Unwavering Support For Hogan On Instagram, Rapaport began facing criticism over his words almost immediately. "One thing a white man gone do is defend another white man," someone wrote. "So this ain't surprising." Someone else quipped, "And this is exactly why he need to stay outta black people's business. I've said it once, and I'll say it again!" Another person chimed in and wrote, "We don't care about him or you! RIP Malcolm-Jamal Warner." A fourth user added, "Yeah, he has always been problematic to me. Never wanted him at the cookouts." Hulk Hogan Apologized For His Words Several Years Later Years later, in a 2015 statement to PEOPLE, Hogan apologized for using "offensive language," calling his behavior "unacceptable." He went on to say that there was "no excuse" for his actions before claiming he believed in equality for all. "This is not who I am. I believe very strongly that every person in the world is important and should not be treated differently based on race, gender, orientation, religious beliefs, or otherwise," Hogan said at the time. "I am disappointed with myself that I used language that is offensive and inconsistent with my own beliefs." And that's not the only major controversy Hogan faced during his career. According to PEOPLE, Hogan's ex-wife, Linda Hogan, filed for divorce in 2007 after 24 years due to the WWE legend's "infidelities." Years later, she addressed their family dynamic in an emotional video, calling it "the worst mess." The Wrestling World Mourns The Loss Of Hogan Hogan died in late July 2025 from cardiac arrest. He was 71. Fellow WWE stars, such as Ric and Charlotte Flair, posted heartfelt tributes to the late wrestler, expressing how much he meant to their family. Dwayne' The Rock' Johnson also shared a statement, recounting their epic "Icon vs. Icon" faceoff at "WrestleMania 18." Johnson remembered the crowd being "electric," adding, "It takes two to tango, but that historic crowd reaction was all for you." The "Game Plan" actor went on to praise the "Hogan Knows Best" star for being one of the most outstanding WWE personalities of all time. "... you 'drew the house' meaning you sold out every arena and stadium across the country in your prime as Hulk Hogan, on your way of becoming the greatest of all time," Johnson wrote in his post. "From deep in my bones, and on behalf of this wild and crazy world of professional wrestling that we love, I say to you now, and forever," he added. "Thank you for the house, brother...
