Metallica's Album Jumps Nearly 7,000% In Sales

Redferns Metallica recently re-released its album Load, offering a super deluxe edition to fans who just can't get enough of the band's music. The project was expanded to include previously unreleased demos and live recordings, and even a book for those who opted for the physical version. Sales of the decades-old collection skyrocketed following the exciting drop, turning it into a Billboard chart success yet again. Load Rises 6,900% in Sales In the past tracking period in the United States, Load sold 12,100 copies (according to Luminate), and that sum marks a dramatic increase from the period before. In the prior week, Load sold only a little less than 200 copies, just before Metallica re-released it. That growth represents a surge of a little more than 6,900% from one frame to the next. That's the kind of spike that can usually only be experienced when a group delivers something exciting – such as a new deluxe version of an album – or a major news event unfolds, like the passing of a musician. 100 Weeks as a Bestseller That uptick in pure purchases turns Load into a bestseller once again on multiple tallies. This week, the set reenters the Top Album Sales chart at No. 4. It's a special frame on that ranking, as Load has now spent 100 weeks as one of the top-selling titles in America. Load's New All-Time Peak At the same time, Metallica's project breaks back onto the Vinyl Albums roster at No. 12. Load has only ever appeared on that wax-focused ranking once before, and No. 12 now stands as its all-time peak. Load Debuts on Multiple Billboard Charts Metallica also debuts Load on four other rankings, ones that are not focused entirely on purchases. The 1996 project hits, for the first time, the Top Hard Rock Albums (No. 4), Top Alternative Albums (No. 6), Top Rock Albums (No. 13), and Top Rock & Alternative Albums charts (No. 14). Metallica Returns its Classic to the Billboard 200 Load is also back on the Billboard 200, thanks almost exclusively to all those thousands of sales. Metallica's album moved 14,200 equivalent units, with only about 2,000 of those coming from any type of consumption that wasn't fans buying the full project.

Linkin Park Hits A Milestone On The Albums Chart For Only The Second Time

Linkin Park's Meteora hits 200 weeks on the Billboard 200, joining Hybrid Theory as the band's only ... More albums to reach the milestone after more than 20 years. AUSTRALIA - OCTOBER 12: Photo of LINKIN PARK; Linkin Park, Livid Festival, Melbourne - Australia (Photo by Martin Philbey/Redferns) Linkin Park has released albums for more than a quarter-century, though the band did take a several-year hiatus following the death of frontman Chester Bennington. While the group has produced eight traditional studio albums, along with several live collections, compilations, and other projects, it's the earliest efforts that remain fan favorites and charting successes to this day. One of the hard rock outfit's oldest releases continues to find space on several Billboard charts, more than two decades after it was first released – and this week, it helps the group reach an impressive milestone for only the second time. Meteora Hits 200 Weeks on the Billboard 200 Linkin Park's sophomore full-length Meteora has now spent exactly 200 weeks on the Billboard 200. This time around, the collection lifts ever so slightly to No. 142, as it moved 10,350 equivalent units, according to Luminate. Almost 10% of that sum were pure purchases, which is an impressive figure for a decades-old project. Two Linkin Park Albums Have Managed This Feat Linkin Park has now seen two titles spend at least 200 weeks on the Billboard 200. Hybrid Theory became the first to do so years ago, and it continues as the rock band's longest-charting success. That set, which sits more than a dozen spaces above Meteora, is up to 367 stays on the tally. Meteora Climbs on Billboard 200, But Falls Elsewhere While Meteora climbs one spot on the Billboard 200, it falls on the other four rankings it's present on this week. The 2003 project also lands on the Top Hard Rock Albums, Top Alternative Albums, and Top Rock & Alternative Albums charts, appearing at Nos. 11, 20, and 36, respectively, but those numbers are down from last frame. Hybrid Theory Still Leads Across the Board Hybrid Theory is beating Meteora on all four of the rankings where both efforts appear, but only slightly. That introductory project declines on the quartet of tallies, but still manages to live inside the top 10 on the Top Hard Rock Albums list. Meanwhile, Linkin Park's greatest hits compilation Papercuts falls to an even lower placement, landing at No. 25 – in last place – on the Top Hard Rock Albums ranking.

'American Pickers' Star Danielle Speaks Out on Co-Star Mike's Friendship

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. American Pickers star Danielle Colby has shared details on their friendship with co-star Mike Wolfe, saying they talk "four or five days a week" in a new interview with Newsweek. The Context The History Channel's hit series American Pickers debuted in 2010, and it has gone on to have 26 seasons—with new episodes premiering next month. The show follows a team of antiques enthusiasts, who search the United States for unique items and meet interesting collectors along the way. What To Know Colby—who prefers "they/them" pronouns—and Wolfe have been on American Pickers since the program first started, but their friendship began prior to fame. "He is one of my very best friends. I don't think that's something that could ever change," Colby told Newsweek. "Our families are way too intertwined. I mean, at this point, there's no divorcing from one another for sure." Colby, 49, has two children—a son named Miles and a daughter named Memphis. In February 2024, they got married to their photographer husband, Jeremy Scheuch. Wolfe, 61, is dating girlfriend Leticia Cline, and he shares daughter Charlie with his ex-wife, Jodi Catherine Wolfe. More Gary Miller/FilmMagic;"When Mike and I started, I think that there was just this attraction in terms of friendship, and community work, and celebrating antiques and vintage, and celebrating history, and learning to understand history in different ways we didn't before," they shared. "I think he and I really bonded on that, and I think it's something that has really held us together and held our friendship very close." The television personality called the Antique Archaeology owner an "ally" for them "as a femme in the antiques world," which is something they have "really appreciated." "That's a relationship that goes so deep. It's such a family tie. Our families are so intertwined. It's just something that will last forever and ever and ever. I don't see it ever going away," they said, noting: "We talk to each other probably, I don't know, maybe four or five days a week." Colby opened their new burlesque museum, the Ecdysiast Arts Museum, on June 21 in Davenport, Iowa, and Wolfe was a key supporter on their new project. "It's so interesting because I think that's part of what bonded Mike and I from the beginning is we both are avid collectors of what we love. I love burlesque history, and so that's what I collect, but Mike also loves burlesque history, and so he collects a little bit of it too," they said. Colby said that Mike donated items to their museum and has "helped us in accessing a lot of items that we otherwise maybe wouldn't have been able to access so easily." "He's like a big brother, so I'm really lucky that we were great friends before the show started," they said. What People Are Saying During a Q&A session in Iowa in 2010, Wolfe praised Colby and shared why they were perfect for American Pickers. "I saw what she was capable of. I mean, she's got the edge, she's got the look," he said alongside Colby and late American Pickers co-star Frank Fritz, who died in September due to complications from a stroke. "One thing I wanted when I hired her, and I knew she was going to be on camera, is I wanted someone that did not look like they would work in any antique shop because I wanted our show to be looked at in a different way." He added, "I wanted people to look at antiques like they're fun, they're rad, they're killer, they're awesome. I wanted people to know that they didn't have to have a blue blazer and 10 cats to be an antique dealer." What Happens Next American Pickers Season 27 returns on Wednesday, July 2, at 9 p.m. ET on the History Channel.
