The Devil's Plan: Death Room OTT Release Date - When and where to watch return of hit Korean reality game show
This season promises to raise the bar with sharper minds, deeper betrayals, and a fresh set of intellectual warriors battling it out over seven intense days. If you're someone who enjoys smart gameplay, shifting alliances, and unpredictable outcomes, this show is made for you.
What is The Devil's Plan? (Season 1 Recap)
The Devil's Plan made its debut in 2023 and quickly became a fan favourite for its unique format - think of it as part escape room, part mind sport, part psychological warfare. Created and directed by Jeong Jong-yeon, who's also known for hits like The Genius and The Great Escape, the show gathered 12 participants from different professional backgrounds (doctors, lawyers, actors, gamers, and YouTubers) and locked them together for a week-long battle of wits.
They faced two types of challenges daily. First was 'Main Matches', where all players competed together, and the second was 'Prize Matches', where winners gained more time outside the game zone and collected pieces - a form of currency in the game. These pieces could be used to buy advantages or even form pacts. But there was always a catch: only one player could win the final prize.
The total prize pool was 500 million Korean Won (approx. USD 370,000), and after all the mind games, YouTuber and science communicator Ha Seok-jin emerged as the winner.
What's new in Season 2: Death Room?
Titled Death Room, this new season isn't only a continuation but a complete upgrade in format and tension. Everything is deeper and deadlier with more complex rules, sharper strategic gameplay, unexpected twists in alliances and a darker setting filled with secrets. Just like before, players will be isolated and tested not on trust, betrayal, teamwork, and pure mental stamina.

Park Chan Wook's 'No Other Choice' to open 30th Busan International Film Festival
Park Chan Wook's 'No Other Choice' to open 30th Busan International Film Festival The 30th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) has selected critically acclaimed director Park Chan-Wook's 'No Other Choice' as its opening film, reported Variety. It will mark the return of Park Chan to the big screens three years after 'Decision to Leave', for which he won best director at Cannes. According to the outlet, the film stars 'Squid Game' actor Lee Byung-hun in the lead role. He plays the role of Man-su, a man whose comfortable life unravels when he's suddenly dismissed from his job, forcing him into a desperate struggle to protect his wife Miri (Son Yejin), their two children, and their home, reported Variety. The story follows Man-su as he embarks on what the festival describes as "his own war of survival." Lee, who will also serve as host of this year's opening ceremony, teams up with Son Yejin for their first on-screen pairing as a married couple. The cast also includes Park Hee-soon, Lee Sung-min, Yeom Hye-ran, and Cha Seung-won. Park described the project as a "long-awaited passion project" at BIFF 2019, and the film will receive its Asian premiere in Busan, following its world premiere at Venice, as reported by Variety. "I am deeply moved and excited to experience the premiere of Park Chan-wook's desired project alongside diverse audiences on the festival's opening day," said BIFF festival director Jung Hanseok. "I sincerely hope that its selection will build meaningful momentum to garner greater attention and foster renewed interest in Korean cinema," added Jung as quoted by Variety. The selection comes at a significant moment for Korean cinema, with BIFF positioning the film as one that "embodies what audiences most hope to see" and can "reinvigorate Korean cinema at this pivotal moment." Park made his directorial debut with 'The Moon Is... the Sun's Dream' (1992) and went on to create groundbreaking works including 'Joint Security Area' (2000), the Vengeance trilogy ('Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance,' 'Oldboy,' 'Sympathy for Lady Vengeance'), 'Thirst' (2009), 'The Handmaiden' (2016), and 'Decision to Leave' (2022). The director has been invited to the Cannes competition section four times and has been honoured with the Grand Prix, Prix du Jury, and Prix de la mise en scene, making him the first Korean director to achieve all three distinctions, reported Variety. The 30th Busan International Film Festival will run from September 17 to September 26.

Netflix cancels Arnold Schwarzenegger's Fubar following underwhelming Season 2 viewership despite star power
Arnold Schwarzenegger's spy action series 'Fubar' will not be returning for a third season on Netflix, the streamer confirmed, a little over a month after Season 2 debuted on June 12. The decision comes after what was described as a surprisingly soft return for the show. Though the first season launched with significant buzz in May 2023—buoyed by Schwarzenegger's global popularity—its second season failed to capture similar momentum. Monica Barbaro, who co-stars as Schwarzenegger's on-screen daughter Emma and became an Oscar nominee in between seasons for 'A Complete Unknown', also returned for Season 2. Season 2, released more than two years after Season 1, managed only a brief appearance in Netflix's English-language Top 10. During its launch weekend, the show earned 2.2 million views, a steep drop from the 11 million views that greeted its premiere season. It peaked at #7 in its first full week with 3.3 million views and barely held onto the #10 spot in Week 3 with 1.8 million, before vanishing from the rankings. The story of 'Fubar' centres on CIA operative Luke Brunner (Schwarzenegger) and his daughter Emma (Barbaro), who each lead double lives while unknowingly working for the same agency. Luke Brunner and his daughter Emma have lied to each other for years, with neither of them knowing that the other is a CIA operative.' The cancellation places 'Fubar' among a short list of Netflix originals dropped in 2025, including 'The Recruit', 'Pulse', and 'The Residence'. Nevertheless, the platform has renewed around 20 scripted series this year alone, with recent greenlights for 'Untamed' Season 2, 'Tires' Season 3, 'Ransom Canyon' Season 2, and 'Virgin River' Season 8.
