Song Hye-Kyo And Jeon Yeo-Been Film 'Dark Nuns' To Debut In U.S.
Sister Giuna is known as a 'dark nun" because of her belief in demonic possession and the means she employs to exorcize demonic spirits. While some in the church support her belief in exorcism, others consider it superstition. Some of the priests who do believe in exorcisms can't imagine a nun would be effective. She's just a nun. They underestimate her skills and resolve. In the Korean film Dark Nuns Sister Giuna is the only one who can vanquish a powerful demon, even if she needs some help with her rituals. Giuna, played by Song Hye-kyo, asks Sister Michaela, played by Jeon Yeo-been, to help her perform the necessary rites.
Sister Michaela initially needs some convincing as she works under Father Paolo, played by Lee Jin-uk (Squid Game, Sweet Home, Dear Hyeri). He doesn't believe in exorcism, stressing that faith and psychology are the answers to a patient's problems. However she's had firsthand experience with demons. She knows they exist and how dangerous they can be, so she decides to help Sister Giuna exorcize a boy being tormented by demons.
Jeon Yeo-been plays a nun who has some experience seeing demons in 'Dark Nuns.'
Dark Nuns is the supernatural sequel to the 2015 film The Priests, starring Kim Yoon-seok (The Frog, Tazza: High Rollers, Noryang The Deadly Sea) Park So-dam (Parasite, Death's Game, Record of Youth) and Kang Dong-won, (Peninsula, Jeon Woo-chee, Uprising). The horror mystery film is about a young girl who is possessed by an evil spirit and the two priests who attempt to save her soul.
The 2025 film Dark Nuns was a box office hit in Korea. Part of the appeal in both these exorcism stories is the star cast. Song, well known to international audiences for her roles in The Glory, Encounter and Descendants of the Sun, creates a strong character in Sister Giuna, a woman ready to sacrifice what's left of her life in the battle against evil.
Jeon, another accomplished actress, known for her roles in Harbin, Glitch and Vincenzo, also creates a relatable character, one tormented by her own visions of evil. The rituals they perform to save a young victim's soul put them in direct violation of the church's orders. Performing such rituals endangers their lives and also their immortal souls.
Director Hyuk Jae-kwon creates a seductively eerie mood with thoughtful visual effects and discordant background noises. Characters operate in mist and shadows. Scenes are set in grimy derelict spaces or feature the ominous sound of agitated bat wings. Still, it's the force of the film's female stars that demand attention as they pursue their deadly mission.
The Nuns and its precursor The Priests are distributed by Well Go USA Entertainment. There are a few viewing options. Both films will be released on Blu-Ray and DVD through Amazon on July 15. The films are also available on streaming platform Viki.com that same day.

BLACKPINK Is ‘Ready to Jump' in What Looks to Be a New Music Teaser: Listen
BLACKPINK served up a sweet treat for BLINKs on Friday (July 4) when the K-pop group released a teaser that appeared to suggest new music on its social media accounts. The clip itself is a simple one, featuring what resemble metallic pink racing marks speeding over a black screen as the music — thumping and club-ready — crescendos before it suddenly stops and a woman's voice instructs 'Jump' as the same word appears in dusty rose. More from Billboard A Complete List of BLACKPINK's Solo Projects (So Far) Avril Lavigne and Simple Plan Cover Blink-182's 'All The Small Things' at Festival d'été de Québec Kesha Is Finally Free on First Independent Album 'Period': Stream It Now The post is captioned with a single question: 'Ready to Jump?' No additional details were given. Fans on the various social media platforms where the 17-second clip was shared were quick to express their excitement over what would be BLACKPINK's first new music as a group since sophomore release Born Pink, which arrived in 2022 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Even Diplo jumped into the comments section on one of the Instagram posts, responding, 'SO READY.' YG Entertainment — the agency behind BLACKPINK — confirmed to Forbes in June that the quartet would debut a new song during the kickoff show of its upcoming global trek titled DEADLINE WORLD TOUR; the first two shows are set for July 5 and 6 at Goyang Stadium in Seoul, South Korea. Fans first started suspecting that new music may be on the way when BLACKPINK launched a map of Seoul on its website on July 1. Several popular areas on the map were singled out, but two pins also hinted that something more was happening. The two pins read, 'DO NOT JUMP,' kicking off the speculation that new music arriving would be called 'Jump.' BLACKPINK's reunion comes after the quartet — comprised of ROSÉ, LISA, JENNIE and JISOO — took some time apart to focus on their own solo projects, from music to acting opportunities and more. Shortly after the teaser's arrival Friday, ROSÉ acknowledged the superstar group's return on Instagram. In a Story, she shared a video of clips featuring BLACKPINK performances. Above the visual, she wrote, 'blinks, we're coming back tomorrow.' Jensen Ackles Talks ‘Supernatural's Jared Padalecki & Misha Collins' Appearance on ‘The Boys': 'Don't Make Me Look Bad'
With the fifth and final season of The Boys approaching, Eric Kripke has something special in store for fans of his work. Soldier Boy actor Jensen Ackles recently teased his reunion with Supernatural co-stars Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins ahead of the Prime Video series' concluding episodes, for which their characters have not yet been revealed. More from Deadline Jared Padalecki On Reteaming With Eric Kripke For 'The Boys': 'The Answer Is Yes' 'The Boys' Season 5: Everything We Know So Far Eric Kripke Bids Farewell To 'The Boys' Set As He Wraps Final Season 'We see each other more often than you would think — honestly, at least once a month,' he told People after they starred in Kripke's CW series for 15 seasons from 2005 to 2020. Ackles added, 'It was weird. It was like inviting my friends over to somebody else's house for dinner. I was like, 'Listen, guys, don't make me look bad. I got to stay here.' They were amazing. I can't wait to talk more about it because it was quite an experience.' After Kripke expressed his desire to work with Padalecki on the concluding season of The Boys, the actor told Deadline he's in. 'The answer is yes,' he said last June. 'We have talked [about a role]. As a matter of fact, we talked today,' added Padalecki. 'I think at this point in my acting life, I only want to work on projects that I really care about or with people that I really care about, and obviously Eric and I are indelibly connected forever.' After Ackles joined the series as Soldier Boy during Season 3, his and Padalecki's Supernatural onscreen dad Jeffrey Dean Morgan appeared as Joe Kessler via Billy Butcher's hallucination in Season 4. This week, Kripke bid farewell to The Boys set as he wrapped the finale. 'It's bittersweet, but my primary feeling is gratitude,' he wrote in part. 'We have the best cast, the best crew, the most fun story to write, and something that is impossible to predict: the right timing. You wait your whole career to have maybe two of those things, if you're lucky. We got all of them.' The final season of The Boys, premiering in 2026, comes after Season 4 topped the Nielsen streaming scores for the first time, setting multiple records for Prime Video.
