A stop at a Georgia gas station led to a big win for a lucky lottery player.
The player hit the Fantasy 5 jackpot, winning $150,000 in the drawing Monday, June 16, the Georgia Lottery said. The ticket, sold at a Texaco station in Jonesboro, matched all five numbers.
Officials didn't say if a winner has come forward.
McClatchy News reached out to the Georgia Lottery on June 18 and was awaiting a response.
The winning Fantasy 5 numbers were 4-24-27-30-41, results show. The lucky player beat odds of 1 in 850,668 to take the top prize.
Three days earlier, another Fantasy 5 player won a whopping $1.5 million jackpot in the June 13 drawing, according to the lottery's website. That ticket was sold in Villa Rica, a spokesperson told McClatchy News.
A Powerball player also netted a $250,000 prize on June 16, capping off a string of big wins in the Peach State, results show.
Winners in Georgia have 180 days to claim prizes on draw games and are encouraged to sign the back of their ticket, the Georgia Lottery said.
Jonesboro is about a 20-mile drive south from downtown Atlanta.

Lottery player takes chance with online game — and wins big Georgia prize

A stroke of luck led a Georgia lottery player to a six-figure prize. The Carrollton resident won a $217,570 jackpot playing the Cleopatra Clusters Jackpot Diggi Game on June 23, officials said in a news release. The game is only available online and features a progressive jackpot that grows with each play until someone wins, according to the lottery's website. To win, players must match a cluster of at least 20 Eye of Horus symbols in the Main Game or the Free Turns bonus game, per the Georgia Lottery's website. Players can also snag the jackpot by collecting 25 Cleopatra symbols in the Cleopatra Bonus game. The overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.6, and tickets range from 50 cents to $20. Additional information wasn't immediately available. The windfall was one of a few big lottery wins in the Peach State this week. Two Powerball players each won $50,000 prizes in the June 23 drawing, narrowly missing the game's estimated $129 million jackpot. One ticket was sold in Union City and the other in Cumming, a lottery spokesperson told McClatchy News. Winners in Georgia have 90 days to claim prizes on instant games and 180 days from the draw date for draw games, according to the Georgia Lottery. Carrollton is about a 50-mile drive southwest from downtown Atlanta.

With sales down, lower Lotto prizes boost May profit

Bracken said the Lottery turned an estimated profit of $117.5 million in May, a $3.2 million increase over last May that the executive director attributed to a $7.9 million decrease in the value of scratch ticket grand prizes claimed last month compared to May 2024. Get Starting Point A guide through the most important stories of the morning, delivered Monday through Friday. Enter Email Sign Up Through 11 months of fiscal year 2025, the Lottery's year-to-date sales are down $182.4 million or 3.2 percent compared to the same time period in fiscal 2024. Jackpot-dependent multi-state draw games are posting some the most severe declines this year — Powerball sales are down $119.5 million or 58.5 percent and Mega Millions sales are down $37.4 million or 26.9 percent. Scratch tickets sales so far this year are down $52.4 million or 1.42 percent. Advertisement Bracken told the commission Tuesday that the Lottery's prize payout percentage, which affects how much revenue is converted to profit to be returned as local aid to cities and towns, remains elevated as the end of the year approaches. That figure has been on the commission's radar for most of fiscal 2025. Advertisement 'Our estimated year-to-date prize payout for the first 11 months is 74.24 percent compared to 73.46 percent for the first 11 months of last fiscal year. And ... you'll see, as we've been watching the trend, the overall prize payout is tapering down, but it is still our highest prize payout that we've had in the last five fiscal years,' he said Tuesday. With just one month's results left to count towards fiscal 2025, Bracken said the Lottery has so far generated an estimated profit of $990.1 million, which he said trails last year's pace by $88.8 million. The Lottery produced $1.159 billion in net profit during fiscal year 2024. Treasurer Deborah Goldberg
