UAE Golden Visa: Can any Indian get a lifetime UAE visa by paying Rs 23 lakh? UAE authorities have now issued clarifications to set the record straight.
Dubai Golden Visa: The UAE Golden Visa has been the subject of much buzz lately — especially after misleading social media posts and reports went viral about special deals, new nomination rules, and even a 'lifetime" visa being available for Indians at a fixed cost. UAE authorities have now issued clarifications to set the record straight. Here's everything you need to know and all your questions answered on the UAE Golden Visa.
What is the UAE Golden Visa?
The UAE Golden Visa is a long-term residency visa that allows foreign nationals to live, work, and study in the UAE without needing a local sponsor. First introduced in 2019, it offers 10-year validity (renewable) and targets investors, professionals, exceptional talents, scientists, entrepreneurs, and outstanding students.
It aims to attract and retain global talent to contribute to the UAE's economic and developmental growth.
Can You Get UAE Golden Visa for Rs 23 Lakh?
No, there is no such fixed-rate Golden Visa available for Rs 23 lakh. This false claim gained traction on social media in India, misleading many into believing that a lifetime visa could be purchased for Dh100,000 (roughly Rs 23 lakh). However, the UAE government has officially denied any such scheme. Authorities warned the public to rely only on verified channels and not fall for offers that sound 'too good to be true".
Is UAE Golden Visa a Lifetime Visa?
No, the UAE Golden Visa is not a lifetime visa. It is valid for 10 years and is renewable upon meeting the criteria. The rumour about lifetime visas being granted to select nationalities, including Indians, was also false. A UAE official clarified to Khaleej Times that 'there is no such thing as a lifetime visa for any nationality."
Can Any Indian Get UAE Golden Visa?
Not automatically. Indians — like any other nationality — must meet the eligibility criteria set by UAE authorities. There is no nationality-specific entitlement. Claims that Indians are being offered Golden Visas in a special scheme have been refuted by the UAE government.
Who All Are Eligible for UAE Golden Visa?
According to the UAE government guidelines, the following categories of people may be eligible for the 10-year Golden Visa:
Applicants must meet specific financial, academic, or professional benchmarks based on the category they apply under.
How to Apply for UAE Golden Visa?
The application can be made through official channels, including:
You will need to submit documents proving your eligibility — such as educational degrees, salary certificates, investment documents, or recognition awards — depending on your category.
What Was the Confusion Over UAE Golden Visa and What Authorities Said?
A misleading campaign circulated through social media and WhatsApp groups in India sparked the confusion. The message falsely claimed that Indians could get a lifetime Golden Visa for Dh100,000 and even nominate others. Some reports implied that Indian businessmen were being offered the visa at fixed rates.
The Khaleej Times reported that UAE officials have categorically denied all such claims. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security confirmed there is no such programme and urged the public to verify any information with official government websites.
The UAE Golden Visa remains a merit-based long-term visa programme. However, viral social media rumours about lifetime visas, fixed-price packages, or nationality-based entitlements are completely false and have been officially denied.

TCS maintains 100% variable pay for 70% of staff in Q1 despite slowdown

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India's largest IT services company, has announced a 100 per cent payout of the Quarterly Variable Allowance (QVA) to over 70 per cent of its employees for the April–June quarter (Q1 FY26), according to an internal mail viewed by The Economic Times. This marks the second consecutive quarter of full QVA disbursement to the majority of its workforce, even as the industry continues to battle global macroeconomic headwinds and tight client budgets. The company stated that the payout for employees in higher grades, typically managerial and leadership roles, would remain variable and aligned with the performance of their respective business units, a policy it has followed consistently across quarters. 'We have paid out 100 per cent QVA to over 70 per cent of the company. For all other grades, the QVA depends on their unit's business performance. This is in line with our standard practice across quarters,' TCS had said in a statement issued previously in May, when it also made a full QVA payout for the January-March quarter. The company's internal grading structure begins with Y-level trainees, followed by system engineers (C1), and ascends through C2, C3, C4, C5, and executive leadership levels. Staff in the C3 and above bands generally comprise senior managers and business unit heads. Growth slows, but headcount grows Despite its commitment to employee payouts, TCS reported a mixed financial performance in Q1 FY26. Net profit rose 6 per cent year-on-year to ₹12,760 crore, up from ₹12,040 crore in the same period a year ago. However, revenue grew just 1.3 per cent year-on-year to ₹63,437 crore. In constant currency terms, revenue declined 3.1 per cent, and sequentially, revenue was down 1.6 per cent — the slowest growth since the Covid-hit Q1 FY21. The company cited global macroeconomic uncertainty, geopolitical tensions, and sluggish discretionary tech spending as ongoing drags on demand. CEO K Krithivasan noted that a recovery in discretionary investments remained elusive. 'This trend has continued and intensified to some extent in this quarter,' he said during the earnings call. Despite the subdued business environment, TCS added 5,060 employees during the April-June quarter, building on the 625 net additions made in the January-March period. The company's workforce now stands at nearly 613,000 — the highest among Indian IT firms. Attrition for the quarter stood at 13.8 per cent. No word yet on annual increments While the firm has honoured its quarterly variable pay commitment for two straight quarters, it has yet to announce annual salary hikes. Speaking after the Q1 results, Chief Financial Officer Samir Seksaria said delivering annual wage hikes remains a top priority for the company, despite the deferment. 'My priority is getting back to the wage hike,' Seksaria told PTI, though no timeline was specified. TCS typically rolls out annual increments starting in April. Seksaria noted that wage hikes, while critical, usually dent operating margins by over 150 basis points. He also pointed to a decline in utilisation levels due to upfront hiring, even as demand has remained weak. 'As demand recovers, we expect utilisation to improve. If demand recovery is prolonged, we will double down on optimisation,' he said, adding that internal efficiencies will be key to margin management going forward.

Sensex, Nifty open higher amid positive domestic cues

Mumbai: The Indian equity indices opened in the green due to positive domestic cues like further softening of inflation, as Asian cues in the morning trade were largely positive. At 9.24 am, Sensex was up 156 points or 0.19 per cent at 82,410 and Nifty was up 55 points or 25,136. Buying was seen in the midcap and smallcap stocks. Nifty midcap 100 index was up 310 points or 59,363 and Nifty smallcap 100 index was up 145 points or 0.77 per cent at 19,100. 'In the current environment of elevated volatility and mixed cues, traders are advised to maintain a cautious 'buy-on-dips' approach, especially when using leverage," said Hardik Matalia from Choice Broking. In the Sensex pack, Sun Pharma, BEL, Bharti Airtel, M&M, Tata Motors, Bajaj Finserv, Infosys, Maruti Suzuki, Tech Mahindra, Trent, SBI, TCS and Bajaj Finance were major gainers. HCL Tech, Eternal, Tata Steel, UltraTech Cement, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and Axis Bank were top losers. In the Asian markets, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Jakarta were in the green, while Shanghai, Bangkok and Seoul were in the red. The US market closed in the green on Monday. From a fund flow perspective, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) continued their selling spree for the second consecutive day on July 14, offloading equities worth Rs 1,614 crore. In contrast, domestic institutional investors (DIIs) extended their buying streak for the sixth day, purchasing equities worth Rs 1,787 crore. 'A significant macro trend is the decline of CPI inflation in June to 2.10 per cent. It appears that inflation will undershoot RBI's projection of 3.7 per cent CPI inflation for FY26. This has raised rate cut hopes," said analysts. According to market experts, fresh long positions should only be considered if Nifty sustains above the 25,378 mark. While the broader sentiment remains cautiously bullish, it is important to monitor key technical levels and global developments closely.
