According to a report by CBS News, the man, who is a police officer, claimed the privacy invasion led to ridicule at his workplace and among his neighbours. The image reportedly showed his bare behind and failed to blur his house number and street name, which were visible online.
He initially sued Google in 2019, but a lower court dismissed the case, citing the man's "inappropriate condition" outdoors. However, an appeals panel reversed that decision this month.
Google had defended itself by claiming the perimeter wall was not tall enough.
What the court said while ordering Google to pay the compensation
"This involves an image of a person not captured in a public space, but within the confines of their home, behind a fence taller than the average-sized person. The invasion of privacy...is blatant,' the court said, favouring the man.
Ordering Google to pay out the compensation amount, the court said: 'No one wants to appear exposed to the world as the day they were born."
The court also pointed to Google's practice of automatically blurring faces and license plates as an indication that the company recognised its responsibility to prevent harm to third parties.
However, in this case, the judges noted that the man's 'entire naked body' was visible and said the image should have been flagged.
Replying to this, the company said that 'if you would like us to blur your entire house, car, or body, submit a request using the 'Report a problem' tool.'

Vietnam's VinFast launches its first plant outside home country in Tamil Nadu, plans to scale up to 150,000 units and position India as key EV export hub Shine Jacob Chennai Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) major VinFast on Monday officially inaugurated its EV assembly plant at the SIPCOT Industrial Park in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. The plant will see phased investment of up to Rs 16,000 crore. The company aims to develop Thoothukudi as an export hub and position it as the "EV capital of South Asia", a senior executive said. VinFast Tamil Nadu is the company's third operational facility and its fifth project in the global manufacturing network. In its initial phase, the plant will assemble two premium electric SUV models—the VF 7 and VF 6. The starting capacity is 50,000 vehicles per year, scalable up to 150,000 units annually to meet rising demand. The facility was inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin. In a statement, the company called the opening a major step in its global expansion, reaffirming its long-term commitment to India—the world's third-largest automobile market. "The VinFast Tamil Nadu plant marks a strategic milestone in our long-term commitment to the Indian market. It establishes a strong foundation for sustainable growth and positions us to offer high-quality, competitively priced electric vehicles to Indian consumers," said Pham Sanh Chau, chief executive officer of VinFast Asia. This is the company's first facility inaugurated outside Vietnam. With a total area of 400 acres, the plant features state-of-the-art production lines equipped with advanced automation and cutting-edge technologies. The complex houses a Body Shop, Paint Shop, Assembly Shop, Quality Control Centre, Logistics Hub, and an auxiliary cluster for local contractors, which is expected to expand in coming years. Thousands of jobs and a push for localisation At full capacity, the facility is expected to create 3,000–3,500 direct jobs and thousands of indirect opportunities across the supply chain. VinFast said this will boost socio-economic development in Tamil Nadu and help position the state as a manufacturing hub and potential EV capital of South Asia. The company also reaffirmed its 2025 sales target of 200,000 vehicles and long-term production goal of 1 million vehicles per year by 2030. "Looking ahead, the facility will expand its production capacity to meet rising demand. We aim to develop it into VinFast's largest export hub for South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. In fact, we've already secured initial orders from several countries across these regions. In close collaboration with the Tamil Nadu government, VinFast is working to transform the area into the 'EV capital of South Asia'—supporting both the dynamic domestic market and our broader regional ambitions," Chau added. Strategic partnerships to build a local EV ecosystem VinFast's Tamil Nadu plant strengthens its global production capabilities while contributing to India's green industrial development. The facility will prioritise collaboration with domestic suppliers to promote supply chain localisation, technology transfer, and workforce upskilling. Since entering India, VinFast has been developing a comprehensive EV ecosystem encompassing assembly, distribution, after-sales services, and recycling. The 400-acre Tamil Nadu facility is central to this strategy. In parallel, the company has partnered with dealer groups in key cities and collaborated with RoadGrid, myTVS, and Global Assure to establish a robust digital services and after-sales network. It has also joined hands with BatX Energies for battery recovery and reuse, supporting circular production and sustainable development in India. VinFast, a subsidiary of Vingroup JSC—one of Vietnam's largest conglomerates—is a pure-play EV manufacturer with a mission to make EVs accessible to all. Its product portfolio includes electric SUVs, e-scooters, and e-buses.

ED arrests Odisha-based firm's MD
Bhubaneswar: Following day-long multi-city searches, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested the Managing Director (MD) of an Odisha-based company in connection with a fake bank guarantee scam, an official said on Saturday. Partha Sarathi Biswal, Managing Director of M/s Biswal Tradelink Private Limited (BTPL), was arrested on Friday after searches in Bhubaneswar and Kolkata at locations linked to the Odisha-based company, said an official statement. After the arrest, Biswal was sent to ED custody. As per the ED, the Central agency recorded an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) and initiated investigation into the fake bank guarantee scam on the basis of a case registered by Delhi's Economic Offences Wing (EOW), on November 11, 2024. The case was registered against BTPL, its directors and others, for providing fake bank guarantee, which was submitted to Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI). Investigation by the ED revealed that BTPL fraudulently arranged and submitted fake bank guarantees of Rs 68.2 crore along with forged SBI endorsements and fabricated confirmations for an SECI tender. For providing this bank guarantee, Rs 5.40 crore was received by BTPL from Reliance Power, the ED statement said. Evidence confirms the use of fake documents in the name of certain banks and fake email IDs in the name of SBI, the probe agency said. The probe reveals BTPL, a small company incorporated in 2019, maintained multiple undisclosed bank accounts and carried out transactions disproportionate to its declared turnover. 'Many violations of the Companies Act are found. No statutory records are found at registered address -- such as books of accounts, shareholders' registers. Dummy directors are found to be used just to sign the documents,' the ED statement said. At least seven undisclosed bank accounts of the company were found and proceeds of crime of crores of rupees have been traced to these accounts. Sources said the Central agency, during investigations, found that the company, its directors and associates were engaged in the issuance of fake bank guarantees against a commission of 8 per cent.
