WILLOUGHBY, Ohio (WJW) — A box truck struck a lift-bucket truck parked in downtown Willoughby on Monday morning, ejecting the person inside the lift bucket, according to city police.

The box truck was headed north on Erie Street when it struck the extension of the lift bucket as it passed by the work truck, he said. The collision caused the person inside the lift bucket to be thrown out, into a car parked across the street, according to Begovic.
Witnesses provided CPR until first responders arrived and transported the person to a hospital, Begovic said. Erie Street was closed off.
The crash remains under investigation.

Guardians pitcher Luis Ortiz placed on leave due to MLB investigation into gambling

Cleveland Guardians pitcher Luis Ortiz was scratched from his scheduled start July 3 against the Chicago Cubs and placed on leave while under a Major League Baseball investigation for gambling, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. The person spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity due to the ongoing investigation. The league did not specify what the investigation was about, but said in a statement Ortiz "has been placed on non-disciplinary paid leave through the end of the All-Star break." The Guardians also issued a statement declining to comment on specifics, saying only the club "will respect the league's confidential investigative process." Ortiz, 26, is in his first season with the Guardians after being acquired from the Pittsburgh Pirates over the winter. In 16 starts with Cleveland, Ortiz has a 4-9 record and 4.36 ERA. Entering the July 3 game, the Guardians had lost six games in a row. They're in second place in the American League Central with a 40-44 record. Joey Cantillo was set to replace Ortiz as Cleveland's starting pitcher July 3 against the Chicago Cubs.
