Days after wife was found hanging, ASP, his family members booked for murder

Lucknow: Mahanagar police late on Monday night registered a case of murder and domestic harassment against additional superintendent of police (ASP) Mukesh Pratap Singh, currently posted in the CID wing of the police, and several members of his family in connection with the suspicious death of his wife, Neetesh Singh. The FIR was lodged based on a complaint filed by Neetesh's brother, Pramod, a resident of Firozabad. According to police, Neetesh was found dead under suspicious circumstances at the Transit Hostel of the Reserve Police Lines in Lucknow on July 30. Her body was reportedly found hanging, but the family suspects foul play and has alleged that she was murdered following prolonged physical and mental harassment. In his complaint, Pramod stated that Neetesh was married to ASP Mukesh Pratap Singh of Etawah on Nov 30, 2012. Pramod alleged that after a few years of marriage, Mukesh developed a close relationship with a woman residing in the Aashiana area. When Neetesh became aware of the affair, she reportedly confronted her husband, which allegedly led to repeated episodes of mental and physical abuse. Pramod claimed that his sister frequently confided in him about the harassment she was facing. She mentioned that Mukesh regularly communicated with the woman via calls and messages and would also meet her outside. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like I thought my dad was 'boring'. The complaint also mentions that Mukesh's father Ramesh Chandra, mother Sudha Chandra, brother Anubhav Chandra and sister Aastha, supported his actions and pressured Neetesh to agree to a divorce. On July 30 around 3 pm, Pramod received a call from his niece, Ananya Singh, informing him that the previous day there was a confrontation at home over the same woman. During the quarrel, Mukesh and Aastha allegedly asked Neetesh to leave the house and told her to "go and die somewhere." It is alleged that they also physically assaulted her. Shortly after this altercation, Neetesh was found hanging in the house, under circumstances that the family believes were staged. Based on Pramod's statement, Mahanagar police registered a case under sections related to murder and domestic violence. Inspector Akhilesh Mishra confirmed that notices have been issued to all the named accused, and further investigation will be carried out based on their responses. DCP, Central zone, Ashish Srivastava said an FIR has been registered against the ASP and his four family members under BNS sections related to murder, assault, and cruelty.

Yadav said he went to the primary school and he, along with Narayan, followed the blood stains to a washroom on the back end of the campus. The duo called police when they realised there was a stench emanating from the washroom. "Police arrived at the school. On opening the toilet, a man's body was found in a pool of blood with injury marks. The man was wearing black jeans and a checkered black and white vest," Yadav said in his complaint. A forensics team was called to the spot and the area was sealed. Investigators, who are scanning CCTV footage from the area, found multiple cigarette butts near the site, possibly indicating the presence of multiple individuals. A police officer told TOI they suspect that the perpetrators entered the school during evening hours and killed the man after a scuffle or an argument. They then dragged the body and left it in the washroom. A school teacher said the school does not have a security guard. "Though there should be a permanent or temporary security guard in all schools, we don't have any security guard and there's no one in the school in the evening," the teacher said, noting that someone could have entered the school from the railway lines behind the campus. The district education officer did not respond to requests for comment till Monday evening. Police said they have registered a case against unknown persons under sections 103(1) for murder and 238 for causing disappearance of evidence BNS.
