In postgame interviews with Vancouver Canucks Insider member Lindsey Horsting, four members of the team spoke on the feeling of being Calder Cup champions.

Canadiens: Who Will Be The Big Earner? Dobson Or Hutson?

Canadiens: What Will The Lineup Look Like? While it's only early July, Montreal Canadiens GM Kent Hughes has already said he would be comfortable starting the season with the team he has put together. The acquisition of Noah Dobson and Zack Bolduc could be game changers for the Habs, who will be expected to take another step forward this season. The objective shouldn't be to be in the mix anymore; it should be to qualify for the playoffs. If the roster remains unchanged, here are the lines and pairings I would like to see. 2:52 Now Playing Paused Ad Playing

Maple Leafs GM Opens Up on Plans to Replace Mitch Marner

Maple Leafs GM Opens Up on Plans to Replace Mitch Marner originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Toronto Maple Leafs face a major task after moving on from Mitch Marner in a sign-and-trade deal completed with the Vegas Golden Knights on the verge of free agency. Advertisement Leafs general manager Brad Treliving knows the challenge of replacing Marner's production won't be solved in a single transaction, but rather by adding multiple capable players to Toronto's roster during the remainder of the offseason. Treliving appeared on Sportsnet's "Kyper & Bourne" show on Wednesday and addressed the situation, his view of it and how he plans to try and fix Marner's exit. 'Just not as simple as saying, 'Okay, Mitch has moved on. We go replace Mitch,'' Treliving said. 'You kind of got to do that in the aggregate. The opportunity allows you more cap space. "Can you try to get more depth? Can you, over a couple of moves, replace the offense you're trying to replace and spread that out throughout the lineup?' Advertisement Treliving emphasized the current limitations across the league when it comes to top-end talent being available after the first wave of free agency ended early this summer. The GM also noted that the projected rise in the NHL salary cap has shifted the market dynamics and impacted the willingness of teams to trade players. 'You have a rising cap. You've got a shortage of top players,' Treliving said. 'There wasn't a huge appetite for people to move players.' Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving speaks during a media Hamilton-Imagn Images The Leafs tried to address their top-six need in free agency, but missed out on key targets like Nikolaj Ehlers, who signed with the Carolina Hurricanes, and Brock Boeser, who stayed with the Vancouver Canucks Advertisement With limited free-agency options, Toronto may need to turn to the trade market to find help for Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies on the Leafs' new top forward line. 'You'd like to (fill Marner's void) yesterday,' Treliving said. 'I don't think you're ever finished. You're always looking to try to improve your team.' NHL Analyst Warns of Maple Leafs' 'Massive Failure' This Offseason

NHL Analyst Warns of Maple Leafs' 'Massive Failure' This Offseason originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Toronto Maple Leafs have endured vast changes this offseason, led by the exit of Mitch Marner. Advertisement According to NHL analyst Matt Larkin, not only have the Leafs changed their DNA, but they have done so for the worse. So much so that Larkin warned that the franchise's offseason could be 'a massive failure' in a blunt assessment at Daily Faceoff on Thursday. 'Matias Maccelli and Nicolas Roy were savvy additions,' Larkin wrote, 'but don't come close to replacing Marner's production. 'Now the Leafs' top-end scoring will largely depend on Auston Matthews fighting off (a) chronic injury, while they'll hope John Tavares can repeat a 38-goal season at 35 years old.' Larkin argued that the Maple Leafs' front office, led by general manager Brad Treliving, has failed to address the franchise's biggest issue following Marner's departure: elite scoring from the wing. Advertisement Without Marner, Toronto will face an uphill battle in an increasingly competitive Atlantic Division. In Larkin's eyes, the additions of Maccelli via free agency and Roy in Marner's sign-and-trade with Vegas aren't enough. "If I'm placing a bet, I still have the Leafs making the playoffs next season – calm down – but they may slide back in a highly competitive Atlantic Division," Larkin wrote. Toronto Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews had 33 goals this past season, a sharp drop from his league-leading 69 goals in Navarro-Imagn Images Larkin didn't hold back on Toronto's overall roster outlook either. He questioned the club's defensive identity and added that its midtier metrics last season were masked by strong goaltending from Anthony Stolarz and Joseph Woll. Advertisement 'If they don't add another top-six forward by any means necessary between now and October,' Larkin wrote, 'GM Brad Treliving's offseason is a massive failure.' The Leafs still have $5.3 million in salary cap space. Treliving has made clear the franchise is still trying to add a top-six forward this offseason.
