Returns On Capital Are Showing Encouraging Signs At Inghams Group (ASX:ING)
Trump has pledged to "unleash" American oil and gas and these 15 US stocks have developments that are poised to benefit.
For those that aren't sure what ROCE is, it measures the amount of pre-tax profits a company can generate from the capital employed in its business. The formula for this calculation on Inghams Group is:
Return on Capital Employed = Earnings Before Interest and Tax (EBIT) ÷ (Total Assets - Current Liabilities)
0.12 = AU$204m ÷ (AU$2.4b - AU$658m) (Based on the trailing twelve months to December 2024).
So, Inghams Group has an ROCE of 12%. In absolute terms, that's a satisfactory return, but compared to the Food industry average of 8.1% it's much better.

Above you can see how the current ROCE for Inghams Group compares to its prior returns on capital, but there's only so much you can tell from the past. If you'd like, you can check out the forecasts from the analysts covering Inghams Group for free.
Inghams Group's ROCE growth is quite impressive. More specifically, while the company has kept capital employed relatively flat over the last five years, the ROCE has climbed 72% in that same time. Basically the business is generating higher returns from the same amount of capital and that is proof that there are improvements in the company's efficiencies. It's worth looking deeper into this though because while it's great that the business is more efficient, it might also mean that going forward the areas to invest internally for the organic growth are lacking.
To bring it all together, Inghams Group has done well to increase the returns it's generating from its capital employed. Investors may not be impressed by the favorable underlying trends yet because over the last five years the stock has only returned 33% to shareholders. So with that in mind, we think the stock deserves further research.

China Market Update: China To Address Auto Overcapacity & E-Commerce Competition
CLN Asian equities were largely higher overnight, led by Thailand, Pakistan, and Taiwan, while Japan underperformed and Hong Kong was closed for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) Establishment Day, which marks the handover of the territory to China by the UK following 156 years of colonial rule. Mainland China opened lower, but grinded higher on good volumes and mixed breadth. President Xi headed the Central Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs' sixth meeting, which was focused on several economic areas. The release states the government should 'govern the low-price and disorderly competition of enterprises in accordance with laws and regulations' and 'promote the orderly exit of backward production capacity'. This is aligned with recent government regulators' talk on addressing overcapacity in the auto industry. Coincidentally, the China Automobile Dealers Association's investor warning index increased +3.9% to 56.6%. Levels above 50 indicate auto dealers are holding high levels of inventory, which exposes them to liquidity risk. The statement may also be referencing the recent increase in E-Commerce competition. entered restaurant delivery and online travel by slashing prices and losing money in order to garner market share. While execution and implementation of this guidance will be important, it should be cheered by investors as it would raise profit margins. It would also address President Trump's and the EU's concerns on excess auto production. The release also referenced growing the marine industry, including offshore wind power, as electricity companies outperformed. House Republican Hardliners Warn of a Delay to Tax Vote
(Bloomberg) -- The leader of a hardline conservative caucus in the House on Wednesday cast doubt on the prospect President Donald Trump's sprawling tax and spending legislation will be completed by July 4. Struggling Downtowns Are Looking to Lure New Crowds New York Port Authority Shut Down Due to Multi-Bus Accident California Exempts Building Projects From Environmental Law What Gothenburg Got Out of Congestion Pricing 'We could take another week to get this thing right,' said House Freedom Caucus Chairman Andy Harris, a Maryland Republican, during an appearance on CNBC. 'We're willing to stay until we resolve this.' 'I don't think it's going to be ready by July 4,' he added, saying that the Senate 'should not have left town' after passing their version of the measure on Tuesday. But Trump, who is determined to see the legislation passed by Independence Day, plans to meet at the White House Wednesday with members of the Freedom Caucus and multiple other groups of House Republicans, an administration official said. House leaders plan to hold a procedural vote to advance the bill on Wednesday, with the goal of sending it to the president by Friday. The president's ambitious timeline is encountering considerable opposition as moderate and ultraconservative GOP lawmakers threaten to defy the president and perhaps frustrate his domestic agenda. House lawmakers are returning to Washington from a holiday week to vote Wednesday on the Senate version of the bill, which passed the upper chamber 51-50 on Tuesday with Vice President JD Vance's tie-breaking vote. Two key House lawmakers, Texas Representative Chip Roy and Representative Ralph Norman of South Carolina, on Wednesday predicted the first procedural vote will fail, meaning the House would likely not be able to move to a final vote on Wednesday. House Speaker Mike Johnson can afford to lose few Republican votes in the closely divided chamber. Earlier: What's in the Trump Tax Bill That Just Passed the Senate 'The House took a position, the Senate took a position, now it's time to get somewhere between those two positions and send something to the president's desk ,' Harris said. His complaint centers on how the Senate's version of the bill adds to the deficit. 'We're not talking about a revolt. We're talking about actually doing the legislative process the way it's supposed to be done.' Trump on Tuesday put public pressure on Republicans to quickly back the bill, posting on Truth Social the tax bill can pass 'but only if the House GOP UNITES, ignores its occasional 'GRANDSTANDERS' (You know who you are!)' --With assistance from Maeve Sheehey, Stephanie Lai and Erik Wasson.
