Bristol in Pictures: Painting the town red
Bristol City secured their place in the play-offs and a shot at the Premier League, and the Bristol Folk Festival began.
Rovers and City legends took each other on for charity at the Mem, and morris dancers welcomed in the start of May.
There was also a sneak preview of the next Gromit Unleashed trail, an award win for a cutting-edge Bristol company, and a special procession through the city on Saturday morning.
Sneak preview: With two months to go until the next Gromit Unleashed sculpture trail returns to the city, organisers the Grand Appeal and Aardman have released pictures of how the artists, including Paula Bowles (above), are getting on with their unique creations.
All smiles: The Bristol Folk Festival began on Friday at St Georges, with Talisk (above) among the performers. The event continues on Sunday with performances beginning at 13:00 BST at both the Folk House and St Georges.
Painting the town green: You may have seen Bristol's Jack in the Green heading from the Harbourside up to Horfield on Saturday. The event welcomes the summer each year, keeping alive a tradition that would have been commonplace across England a couple of centuries ago.
Legends return: Past heroes from Bristol Rovers and Bristol were pitted against each other on a warm evening at the Mem this week in aid of charity Talk Club, which helps men with their mental health. Rovers took the win on a night organised by the Bristol Rovers Community Trust, Bristol City Robins Foundation and Talk Club itself.
May day: Morris dancers welcomed in May as dawn crept across Bristol on Thursday, keeping their traditions alive.
Revving up: Fowlers Motorcycles held the first of this summer's bike nights on Friday, bringing together enthusiasts of all things on two wheels. The events will continue on the first Friday of each month.
Packed out: More than 700 people visited the popular St Werburgh's City Farm as it held its Spring Fair last weekend.
Come on down: Whitehall Rugby Club hosted an all-women day at the weekend to help it develop more all-female sides at its base in the east of the city.
Winners: Dynisma, based just outside Bristol, won Technology Company of the Year at the 2025 British Business Awards. Founded by former Formula One engineer, Ash Warne, Dynisma makes high-performance driving simulators for motorsport teams.
Painting the town red: Year Six pupils Headley Park Primary School showed their support for Bristol City when players Zak Vyner, Joe Williams and Elijah Morrison dropped in as part of a Robins Foundation event this week.
Cutting edge: The dBs Institute of Sound & Digital Technologies held a new showcase at the Loco Club at Temple Meads on Thursday, featuring cutting-edge sound art created by third year students at its Bristol campus.
Brains of Bristol: Staff from 11 Bristol hotels took part in a quiz organised by the Bristol Hoteliers Association (BHA), raising £1,250 for the Brain Tumour Support Charity.

Transfer news, rumors: Gyokeres to Arsenal; Kudus to Chelsea, Spurs
The transfer news from around the Premier League is showing no signs of slowing down with the big boys spending plenty to strengthen their squads. Below is a look at the latest transfer news from across the Premier League, with some huge deals developing. Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal is in the works According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are in talks to sign Sporting Lisbon and Sweden striker Viktor Gyokeres. Per the report Gyokeres, 27, will not return for preseason with Sporting and Arsenal have held new talks to sign him. Romano adds: 'Arsenal are now getting closer to signing Gyokeres... Arsenal are now advancing. Nothing done yet but discussions underway.' Okay, so, this is getting closer and Arsenal look like they're going to have a summer transfer window for the ages. Having already signed Kepa and Martin Zubimendi, they are also going to add Christian Norgaard in midfield to add depth. The Gunners have been linked with moves for Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke too and if they can get all of these moves over the line they will be right up there with the favorites to win the Premier League and Champions League this season. As for Gyokeres specifically, it feels like he's the final piece of the jigsaw. This feels very much like Manchester City adding Erling Haaland. Arsenal create so many chances each game but have lacked that clinical finisher who makes the difference in big moments. Gyokeres is that finisher. He can hold the ball up and link up play well but the main reason Mikel Arteta needs him is to be in the box in the right places to finish off chances or use his frame to create chaos and space for others to finish. Gyokeres would give Arsenal's attack a new dimension and he is the one kind of player they've been missing in recent years. Chelsea, Spurs working on Mohammed Kudus deal With West Ham United seemingly resigned to lose Mohammed Kudus in order to allow manager Graham Potter to have some funds to spend on new players this summer, both Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are interested in the Ghanaian forward. According to David Ornstein Spurs have had a bid of $68 million turned down for Kudus but remain in talks with West Ham. But given Spurs' intense rivalry with West Ham, there is plenty of fan unrest over that deal happening. And according to Fabrizio Romano Chelsea are interested and have held talks with Kudus' agents. With Noni Madueke potentially leaving and Jadon Sancho heading back to Manchester United, Chelsea would technically be a winger short. Even though they have about 27 forwards... Where should Kudus go? Spurs would be a really good fit and Thomas Frank's style of play would suit him well. Would Kudus actually play at Chelsea? Even though Chelsea have added forwards Liam Delap and Joao Pedro and have young winger Estevao Willian arriving this summer too, they could still use Kudus in their rotation. This deal would also save face for West Ham as they'd rather sell Kudus to Chelsea than Spurs. But if Kudus wants to play regularly he should join Spurs.

Arsenal sign midfielder Zubimendi from Real Sociedad
Arsenal on Sunday announced the signing of midfielder Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad after they reportedly triggered his £51 million ($70 million) release clause. Euro 2024 winner Zubimendi had previously been a target for Liverpool and was also linked with Real Madrid. Advertisement "This is a huge moment in my career," he said. "It's the move I was looking for and one I wanted to make. As soon as you set foot here, you realise how big this club and this team are. "I set my sights on Arsenal because their style of play is a good fit for me. They have shown their potential recently and the best is yet to come." Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is confident Zubimendi will reinforce his midfield options after Thomas Partey's contract expired and Jorginho left the club. "Martin is a player who will bring a huge amount of quality and football intelligence to our team," he said. Advertisement "He will fit in really well and he has all the attributes to be a key player for us." Zubimendi made 236 appearances in all competitions for Sociedad after graduating from the club's academy and has played 19 times for Spain. Arsenal finished second in the Premier League last season for the third straight year. Zubimendi is Arsenal's second signing of the summer transfer window after goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga joined from Chelsea. The Gunners are also expected to complete the signing of Christian Norgaard from Brentford. jw/jc
