BBC viewers have days to binge ‘deeply haunting' war drama
BBC viewers only have a couple of days to binge-watch one of the best recent historical dramas available on iPlayer.
Starring several major names from the world of British TV and film, this stunning Second World War series dramatises several pivotal moments from the conflict.
While battles are fought across Europe, the lives of several ordinary citizens intertwine in surprising ways.
World on Fire's second series, which features Doctor Who 's Jonah Hauer-King leading the drama as British interpreter Harry Chase, is currently on BBC iPlayer - but not for long.
It's set to be removed this Wednesday (16th July), giving viewers less than two days to catch up on this acclaimed six-part series.
The drama, created by Peter Bowker, currently has an impressive 84 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, indicating rave reviews from TV critics.
The aggregator's critical consensus reads: 'Though at times more style than substance, World on Fire's layered storytelling never steps on itself, leaving room for its excellent ensemble and gorgeous set-pieces to fill in any narrative gaps.'

Bear Grylls is reportedly lined-up to host a bizarre new BBC show that will see the born survivor 'rekindle feuding people through nature'. Bear has previously said that good communication with wife Shara, 51, and their three sons is the key to getting along. Daily Mail has contacted the BBC and Bear's reps for comment. In June, it was confirmed Netflix have axed their big money television show Celebrity Bear Hunt. The programme, which was set in Costa Rica and was hosted by Holly Willoughby alongside Bear Grylls, won't return. Sources close to the show which aired in February say that while the ratings did well it was expensive to make and Netflix are now planning to do more live events rather than pre-recorded shows. One told MailOnline: 'Everyone was very proud of the show but when it came to it, it was just so expensive to make. 'You had to have a whole set in Costa Rica, loads of staff and loads of celebrities. The overheads were eyewatering.' It is understood that cheaper locations were looked at but nothing was appeared to be suitable. Celebrity Bear Hunt had an impressive line up of celebrities including Spice Girl Mel B and tennis player Boris Becker who would not have been cheap to hire, according to sources. Other celebrities that took part included Lottie Moss, Danny Cipriani, Big Zuu, Joe Thomas, Kola Bokinni, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, Leomie Anderson, Shirley Ballas, Steph McGovern and Una Healy. The show, which was Holly's first programme with Netflix, featured twelve celebrities who are sent to a jungle in Costa Rica, where they were forced to avoid being hunted down by Grylls. Along the way, the celebrities faced various challenges and solve puzzles.

The fifth series of the comedy programme is now only weeks away and is returning despite the creator apologising for a racial slur. Teasing the new show, the corporation said: "Agnes Brown and the gang from Finglas are back! "Everyone's favourite Irish Mammy returns for a brand new fifth series featuring all your favourite characters, so get ready for more slapstick shenanigans this spring!" According to The Sun, the BBC's head of comedy, Jon Petrie, added: "Brendan has created an iconic comedy character in Agnes Brown. "Mrs. Brown's Boys is a BAFTA-winning comedy show and one of the BBC's most-watched comedies ever. I'm proud to have it in the BBC Comedy stable." Mrs Brown's Boys will return to UK telly on Friday, August 1 at 9:30pm on BBC One. BBC viewers dub Mrs Brown's Boys 'utter garbage' and 'worst thing' they have ever seen Despite this popularity, many are not so keen on the show, with one person penning: "The worst show I've ever seen. It's ghastly, and thankfully, no one I know likes it, because if they did, then I'd disown them. UTTER GARBAGE." Another said: "Quite possibly the worst thing I've ever watched in my life.
