Forget Galaxy Watch 8 — Samsung's best smartwatches are up to 38% off before Prime Day

Tom's Guide16 hours ago
Forget the rumored Samsung Galaxy Watch 8, two of Samsung's best smartwatch models are available now for impressively low prices as part of early Prime Day savings. I'm speaking, of course, of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra.
The Galaxy Watch 7 (40mm) is just $209 at Amazon, marked down from $299, and the 44mm model is only $259, reduced from $329. That's not all, though. The rugged and long-lasting Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra is $399 at Amazon, dropping from $649. (For more deals, check out our early Prime Day deals live blog).
The Galaxy Watch 7 is one of the most comfortable full-featured smartwatches I've tested. Feature-wise, it's on par with the Google Pixel Watch 3 and Apple Watch Series 10; however, I prefer Samsung's wellness insights — especially the sleep reports — to Apple's or Google's.
We're less than a week out from the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event, where we'll probably catch our first glimpse at the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch 8, which means... now is a great time to score a Galaxy Watch 7 or Ultra for less!
While the next-gen devices will surely have some cool new features, the Galaxy Watch 7 remains a supremely capable and impressive smartwatch, and one I'll likely continue to recommend even after the introduction of the Galaxy Watch 8, especially if it stays cheap.
In 2025, the Galaxy Watch 7 is not only one of my favorite Android-friendly smartwatches, but it's also the best smartwatch for sleep tracking. Available in your choice of 40mm or 45mm — both size options are on sale — it offers impressive AI-backed holistic insights, reliable workout tracking and safety tools, lots of useful native and third-party apps, and a seriously easy-wearing design.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra is the longest-lasting, toughest-built smartwatch for Android you can buy today. If you're a fan of large screens, titanium cases, customizable buttons and class-leading, AI-backed wellness tools, this is the smartwatch for you.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra, meanwhile, offers all the same features and holistic tools as the Galaxy Watch 7, but in a substantially larger, all-titanium case with 100 meters of water resistance (versus 50mm for the Watch 7) and double the battery life: up to three days in low power mode.
Think of it as the Android equivalent of the Apple Watch Ultra series, with the same tough-as-nails, anything-goes disposition.

Foxconn tells hundreds of Chinese staff to return from its Indian iPhone factories

In Brief Apple's biggest assembly partner Foxconn has ordered more than 300 of its Chinese employees to return home from its iPhone factories in India, Bloomberg reported, citing anonymous sources. The employees told to return account for the bulk of Foxconn's staff in its iPhone facilities in India, and only Taiwanese support staff remain in the country, the report said. The motivation behind the order was not immediately clear, Bloomberg reported, though the outlet noted that Chinese officials have been asking regulators to curb knowledge and tech resources from being exported to India in a bid to preserve the country's manufacturing heft. The move comes as Foxconn and other Apple suppliers have been ramping up manufacturing in India as the iPhone maker seeks to reduce its reliance on Chinese manufacturing for its hardware. Foxconn in May received Indian government approval to build a $435 million semiconductor plant in the country. Apple's CEO Tim Cook has said the company is importing more iPhones from India as one way to handle the uncertainties around U.S. tariffs and trade risks.

Robots to overtake human staff in Amazon warehouses

Robots are on track to outnumber humans in Amazon's warehouses for the first time as the business increasingly turns to machines to handle the millions of packages it sends a day. The tech giant said on Tuesday it now has more than 1m robots globally, which range from mechanical arms to wheeled transporters that patrol its warehouse floors. This figure is approaching the total number of staff Amazon employs across its shipping warehouses, according to the Wall Street Journal. The number of robots deployed by Amazon has risen fivefold since 2020, when it had 200,000, and comes amid increasing fears that automation will impact job openings. Amazon does not say how many staff work in its warehouses, but they make up the majority of its 1.56m total employees, a number that has flatlined in recent years. It claims that its robots 'work alongside our employees', preventing them from heavy lifting and allowing staff to progress into technical roles such as maintaining and monitoring the robots. Amazon's warehouses were often highly reliant on human workers, who often walked more than 10 miles a shift as they pushed carts between shelves to select items for packaging. But the company has increasingly mechanised the process. Wheeled robots typically deliver bulky rotating shelves to stationary human 'pickers' who sort them, although the company is deploying more robotic arms that pick up items. An analysis by the Wall Street Journal found that Amazon shipped 3,870 packages per employee last year, compared to 175 in 2015. It also revealed that the number of Amazon employees per facility has fallen to its lowest level in 16 years. The company says it has retrained 700,000 workers since 2019 and that its more automated warehouses have led to a 30pc increase in reliability, maintenance and engineering jobs. It comes as research on Monday found that entry-level jobs were in free-fall amid the rise of AI systems such as ChatGPT, with the number of job adverts having fallen by a third since 2022. An Amazon spokesman said: 'Our operations network has evolved significantly over the past few years, driven not just by growth, but by the diversity of facilities we manage to better serve our customers. 'As we've hired hundreds of thousands of new employees over the past decade, we've also expanded into new types of sites – like sub-same-day fulfilment centres and delivery stations – which have smaller employee footprints and help us deliver with greater speed. 'These shifts, supported by new automation and AI systems, help us get closer to customers, create jobs in new communities, and improve the experience for both employees and shoppers.' Dell Laptop (32GB RAM, 1TB SSD) Now 73% Off, Priced So Low so Don't Count on It Lasting Till Prime Day

The good folks at Amazon must be getting warmed up for the annual Prime Day blowout, or maybe somebody lit their 4th of July fireworks a little early, because for the second day in a row there is a truly insane Dell laptop deal that's just dropped out of nowhere. The last one, on the Dell 15 Vostro 3520, took a $2,000 price tag down to just $549. Now it's the Dell 15 Vostro 3530's turn in an even bigger deal taking a $2,400 price down to just $650. The Dell Vostro 3530 is the slightly bigger brother to the Vostro 3520, normally retailing for $400 more than the lower model. Two huge 73% Amazon deals later, you need only an extra $100 to bump up from the 6-core processor of the Vostro 3520 to the 10-core version that powers the Vostro 3530, which means you keep a staggering $1,750 in your pocket when you score this monster laptop. See at Amazon The Dell description of the Vostro 3530 laptop says it's aimed at small businesses and entrepreneurs, but when you look at the specifics and the features of this machine, it's hard to think of anyone who wouldn't want it as their everyday laptop for work, play, or general use. Start with the very most basic laptop needs — a fast processor and big-capacity storage. The Dell Vostro 3530 is powered by a 10-core 13th Gen Intel Core i5 processor that can hit speeds up to 4.66GHz, much more than enough for any streaming, surfing, or heavy-duty multitasking you ask of it. It has 32GB of RAM, which you can expand to 64GBm and the built-in storage is a huge 1TB SSD. The display on the Dell Vostro 3530 is a 15.6-inch full-HD beauty with 1920 x 1080 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and driven by an Intel iRIS Xe graphics card. The array of ports and slots you'd need to connect the Dell Vostro 3530 to parallel devices is fully loaded. It comes with a USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 port for data transfers, USB-A 3.2 and USB-A 2.0 ports, an HDMI 1.4 port for external monitor hookups, an SD 3.0 card slot, and a RJ-45 Ethernet port. Add the WiFi and Bluetooth connections to that super-fast Ethernet hookup, and your path to surfing and streaming is clear and smooth. The big 4th of July sales are already under way and Prime Day will be following fast on their heels, but we can't envision any huge event that will match the deals Amazon's been dropping on these powerhouse Dell laptops like the Vostro 3530. It's 73% off, which translates into a $1,750 price cut down to just $650. See at Amazon
