Malaysian top alternative rock group Midnight Fusic all set to stage their long-awaited first-ever solo concert

The Star7 days ago
Mark your calendars for a night of musical magic as Midnight Fusic takes the stage for their long-awaited first-ever solo concert, "Midnight Fusic Forevermore 2025", set to be held at Zepp Kuala Lumpur on Sept 14.
Formed in 2013, Midnight Fusic has established a strong and dedicated fan base both locally and internationally. They are now considered among the best alternative rock bands in the South-East Asia region and have also performed live shows in many countries, including South Korea, Indonesia, and Singapore.
Consisting of Arif Kamarudin (vocals, guitar), Adrian Danial (vocals, guitar), Firdaus Azmi (bass), and Muaz Rabbani (drums), the band delivers a compelling fusion of alternative rock and rich pop melodies — complete with catchy hooks, emotive vocals, and dynamic instrumentation that resonates with both rock fans and mainstream listeners alike.
The year 2024 saw Midnight Fusic's momentum reach new heights as the band graced a variety of live events, including "Riuh, MLBB 8th Anniversary Music Party, YSL Beauty, Zus: Lokal Kasi Vocal, and Last Dinosaurs: Live in KL".
Expanding their footprint beyond Malaysian borders, the band also performed in South Korea at the "Incheon Record Platform 2024" and "Newtro Rhythm Global Music Tour 2024". They also Malaysia's first indie alternative band that was chosen as the first Asian talent to be featured in Deezer NEXT in 2018.
They had also appeared at "We The Fest" in Indonesia and "Baybeats" in Singapore. They also opened for international acts such as Boys Like Girls Comes to Asia and LANY Live in Kuala Lumpur.
The band's vibrant musical journey was further amplified with the release of their latest EP, Modus Operandi, on 23 May 2025, following their self-titled debut album in February 2021. Their 2020 single "Sandiwara" marked a significant moment as their first-ever Malay-language track.
Now, with all the pieces in place, Sept 14 is set to be a sweet and momentous date — much like the taste of Caramel Cream — as the band, who was crowned Band of the Year at The Platform Awards 2020, presents their most important show yet: their first and biggest concert to date.
Titled "Midnight Fusic Forevermore 2025", this concert marks a new beginning for the band and their fans, who will come together at Zepp Kuala Lumpur from 8pm. Presented by OYOLLO ASIA, the organisers believe this is the perfect time to spotlight the band.
'OYOLLO ASIA is proud to present Midnight Fusic Forevermore 2025, the band's first-ever solo concert. As a Malaysian company, we're passionate about championing next-generation musical talent. Midnight Fusic represents everything the future of music should be — bold, highly talented, local, and globally relevant,' said Kenny Wong, Managing Director of OYOLLO ASIA.
He added, 'This concert is more than a performance; it's a celebration of youth, creativity, Malaysian talent, and also Midnight Fusic's 10th anniversary. Their unique blend of indie rock and heartfelt storytelling has captured the hearts of Malaysian youth over the past decade.'
'We're truly honoured to support Midnight Fusic on this exciting journey and invite all fans and music lovers to be part of this defining moment. It will be a special night — one-of-a-kind, and utterly unforgettable.'
For Midnight Fusic, this concert is an opportunity to connect more intimately with fans, whether they've followed the band loudly or quietly over the years.
'We're bringing a brand-new setlist, a new song, & new visuals – the whole experience is something fresh. I'm genuinely excited to connect with our fans in this new way. This show isn't just another gig; it's a new chapter for MF. I am looking forward to being together in a space with our fans where everyone can come together as one and share our journey,' said Arif, the band's vocalist.
The band also considers Sept 14 a dream come true, born out of their love for music and deep appreciation for fan support.
'I think it's because the whole concept is like us making the show for our fans. We're coming back with this concert again with more new songs. We curated the setlist to have a storyline. I'm excited to go through that journey of storytelling, of the past of MF, and showcasing the new stuff as well.
I know the best moment will be when the first song hits. The anticipation is going to be so hype, the buildup will be so nice, and when the song finally drops, everyone is just immersed. We'll all be in sync — the song, the beat, the crowd, all of us,' said Muaz, the drummer.
'Celebrate our 10 years together. Midnight Fusic Forever and More!' added Adrian and Firdaus.
Expect a night filled with the band's signature vocal dynamics — Arif and Adrian's vocal chemistry, paired with the refined musicianship of Firdaus and Muaz, will create an unforgettable 90-minute experience. Midnight Fusic promises not only music but also a full sensory showcase, with thoughtfully curated visuals, themes, and even scents filling the venue.

MCR Fans Outraged By RM6k Resale Concert Tickets; Alleged Scalper Responds

After teasing fans with cryptic billboard advertisements around Kuala Lumpur, it has finally been confirmed that legendary rock band My Chemical Romance (MCR) will be performing in Malaysia in 2026. This marks the band's first return to the country since 2007, when they played to a crowd of 10,000 at Stadium Merdeka. Tickets went on sale last week and, as anticipated, fans faced frustration due to bots and scalpers during the online queue. Not only were many left disappointed after failing to secure their tickets, but they were also outraged after finding out that this person is reselling his concert tickets at an extremely high price. Here's the story: Earlier this week, a Facebook user named Jason posted online that he was reselling 6 Zone C MCR concert tickets for RM6,000. He explained that the decision to give away the tickets was due to a recent breakup. 'I bought them for my girlfriend and her friends, but life had other plans; we broke up. So here I am, letting go of the tickets, and maybe a little bit of the past too,' he wrote. The user acknowledged that the asking price might seem high, but added that it is negotiable. Although he may not have had any ill intentions, netizens were quick to accuse him of being a scalper, as they are often known for buying tickets in bulk and reselling them at inflated prices. Some criticised the man, saying he should have resold the tickets at their original price, while others pointed out that ticket reselling is illegal, and that his tickets could immediately be voided if he were found guilty of such an act by the organisers. Following the backlash, the man defended himself, insisting he was not a scalper and pointing out that he was not forcing anyone to buy the tickets, as he had already accepted his losses. However, he appeared to contradict himself by justifying the high ticket price and admitting that he hoped to make a small profit. Regardless of whether the man was telling the truth or not, it is always advisable to purchase tickets only through official ticketing platforms or authorised sellers. As for what can be done to counter scalpers, you can simply just ignore them until they go too broke to resume their illegal business. Malaysian Communications Minister, YB Datuk Ahmad Fahmi bin Mohamed Fadzil, also recently confirmed that an anti-scalping law is in motion, following the rising problem of concert ticket scalpers for international acts. Petaling Street cocktail bar Penrose retained its title as the Best Bar In Malaysia, ranking No.10 this year, dropping just two spots from its No.8 placing in last year's list. Bangsar bar Three X Co made a stunning return into the Top 50 at No.15, its best placing on the list since making its debut at No.47 in 2021. Two other Kuala Lumpur bars were also listed – Bar Trigona (No.39) and Reka:Bar (No.47). The tenth edition of Asia's 50 Best Bars, was announced at a live awards ceremony in Macau on July 15, in collaboration with destination partners Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace. Penang's Backdoor Bodega won the Best Cocktail Menu Award at the Asia's 50 Best Bars 2025. Penang bar Backdoor Bodega pulled off a surprise when it won the Best Cocktail Menu Award 2025 for its 'The Backdoor Bodega Guide to Penang' menu, which "surpasses the traditional drinks list idea to create an all-singing celebration of its unique locality". While it didn't make it into the Top 50, Backdoor Bodega did place No.64 on the extended 51-100 list which was announced last week, together with Bangsar favourite Coley at No.92. Hong Kong's Bar Leone topped the list for the second year running. This year's list featured bars from 20 cities across Asia, including 20 new entries. Hong Kong's Bar Leone was crowned The Best Bar in Asia for the second year running, with Seoul's Zest at No.2 and Singapore's Jigger And Pony at No.3, an exact repeat of last year's Top 3. Chinese bartender Andrew Ho of Guangzhou's Hope & Sesame won the Altos Bartenders' Bartender Award 2024 for his role in elevating Mainland China's drinks scene to new heights. The Asia's 50 Best Bars list is voted upon by a region-wide Academy comprising a gender-balanced group of bartenders, bar owners, drinks writers and cocktail aficionados, all of whom place independent and anonymous votes for what they believe constitutes a 'best bar experience'. Penrose By maintaining its Top 10 position, Penrose continues to fly the flag for Malaysian hospitality, with its on functionalism and simplicity, while providing an intimate atmosphere that allows for engaging conversations between bartender and customer. Bar Trigona At No.39, Bar Trigona continued its strong presence on the list for the sixth year running. Located at the Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur, the bar was the first Malaysian bar to make it on the World's 50 Best Bars list in 2020. The bar is currently celebrating its seventh anniversary with a look back at some of the best cocktails it has created over the last seven year. Reka:Bar Reka Bar, which had broken into the Top 50 last year the first time at No. 41, placed at No.47 this time around. A self-styled 'post-modern flavour lab' located at Damansara Heights, the bar is like a cross between a chill out lounge club and a space-age laboratory. Led by head bartender Joel Poon, the bar team creates unique and complex, yet clean and flavourful drinks through a myriad of techniques, including infusion, clarification, distillation and more.
