The estate of the Notorious B.I.G. has sold a stake in the late Brooklyn rapper's music publishing and recordings, as well as certain name, image, and likeness rights, to Primary Wave Music.
Although the deal closed just weeks after the death of the artist's mother, Voletta Wallace, multiple reports say she was involved in nearly all of the business negotiations.
No terms of the deal have been disclosed, but the Wall Street Journal reports Primary Wave is taking a 50% share of the estate, which was valued at $200 million.
The WSJ also reported that Voletta Wallace had negotiated with Sean 'Diddy' Combs to gain full control of her son's publishing rights. Initially, the Notorious B.I.G. had a 50-50 split of his publishing with Bad Boy at the time of his passing. However, Wallace convinced Combs to increase the estate's stake to 85% in the early 2000s, and then acquired the remaining portion in 2020.
'The estate and Primary Wave will collaborate on all business moving forward in an effort to continue the incredible and innovative work done thus far with one goal in mind, to keep the legacy of the Notorious B.I.G. alive,' the company said in a statement.
Despite being murdered at the age of 24, the Notorious B.I.G. is widely regarded as one of the greatest rappers of all time. During his lifetime, Biggie recorded his 1994 debut, Ready to Die, and his posthumously released 1997 double album, Life After Death, spawning hits like 'Juicy,' 'One More Chance,' 'Mo Money Mo Problems,' and more.
A pair of posthumous albums, Born Again and Duets: The Final Chapter, were released in 1999 and 2005, but were not of the same quality as the material Biggie made while he was still alive.
In recent years, Primary Wave has acquired the catalog of artists like Prince and the Doors.

Primary Wave Acquires Rights from Estate of Fleetwood Mac's Peter Green

Primary Wave has acquired the publishing rights of Fleetwood Mac founder and original guitarist Peter Green, the company announced on Monday, with Primary Wave acquiring Green's interests in the songs he composed as well as the assets of Green's Rattlesnake music publishing catalog. Primary Wave declined to disclose financial details of the acquisition. The deal includes the early Fleetwood Mac hits Green penned including 'Albatross,' 'Black Magic Woman' and 'Oh Well.' More from The Hollywood Reporter Rob Reiner Teases Paul McCartney, Elton John Cameos in 'Spinal Tap II' Unreleased Beyoncé Music Stolen From Rental Car Ahead of Cowboy Carter Tour Atlanta Stops Blackpink Returns to L.A. to Remind Us All Why They're the Biggest Girl Group in the World Green co-founded Fleetwood Mac in the late '60s alongside Mick Fleetwood and John McVie, starting the group as a blues rock band. The instrumental 'Albatross,' which Green wrote himself, became the band's biggest early hit, topping the charts in the U.K. 'Black Magic Woman' meanwhile, became a hit for Santana and remains one of his biggest songs over five decades later. Green recorded three albums with the band, but he'd suffered from mental health issues (later being diagnosed with schizophrenia) and left in 1970. By the mid-70s, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks joined and launched the iteration of the band that reached international stardom. This isn't the first Fleetwood Mac deal Primary Wave has made; they bought a stake in Stevie Nicks' catalog back in 2020. Outside of Primary Wave, Buckingham sold his catalog to Hipgnosis Songs, Fleetwood sold his recorded music rights to BMG and McVie's estate sold her recorded music stake to HarbourView in 2023. Green, who died in 2020 at age 73, is often cited as one of the greatest guitarists of all time, lauded for his distinct tone and inventive and virtuosic approach to the blues. His 1959 Gibson Les Paul is itself a legendary instrument among guitarists, known to have a unique tone because one of its pickups was placed in the guitar upside down. That guitar, known as 'Greeny,' is owned by Metallica's Kirk Hammett, who's been known to give replicas of the instrument to other guitarists. 'When I look at the definition of a musical genius, Peter Green ticks every box,' Primary Wave's Robin Godfrey Cass said in a statement. 'As a musician, songwriter, and founder of Fleetwood Mac, he is an icon. It has been over 60 years ago since he began writing his body of legendary songs which are still in use every day. I am ecstatic that the estate has given Primary Wave the reins to continue his amazing legacy.' Cosmo HQ Review: Juicy Couture Just Moi Perfume Review

I truly can't stress this enough: 2000s beauty trends are so back. Every 'new' launch these days looks and feels like an updated take on a product from a decade ago. Whether it's lip glosses that double as bag charms or face masks that remind me of the ones my friends and I used to do at sleepovers while watching Pitch Perfect, everything in the beauty world is in its early aughts era. The latest beauty news that transports me to my middle school years? Juicy Couture's new perfume drop. Yep, you heard it here first, the Juicy Couture with the bedazzled tracksuits (that my mom never let me wear since the word Juicy plastered across my 11-year-old butt wasn't her vibe, which, fair) is back for 2025 with a new fragrance called Just Moi. Juicy Couture's Viva La Juicy perfume has been a staple for over a decade, so it's about time the brand graced us with a new major scent. And while I could talk about my tween years forever, I'm really here to tell you all about Just Moi. I've been secretly testing it all summer, and I have all the exclusive details below. Related: Check out more Cosmo HQ Reviews on beloved beauty brands like Kylie Cosmetics, Clinique, and Dieux. Just Moi smells sweet and nostalgic, while somehow staying grown up. Think: Your childhood sleepovers turned dinner parties with girlfriends, complete with floral tablescapes and homemade fruity desserts. It was also created by two perfumers who are the noses behind some of the most beloved scents from brands like Kayali, Phlur, Amouage, and more. It opens with cacao blossom, magnolia, and plum for a fresh gourmand moment. Then vanilla and cacao are paired with jasmine in the middle notes to amplify that creamy floral scent. And it finishes off with the brand's signature vanilla-ambrox infusion, as well as sandalwood and musk for a skin-like finish that lingers alongside its sweeter and flowery top notes. This scent really blends a bunch of fragrance families, but I'd call it a sweet gourmand, with a touch of florals and warm amber. First off, Juicy really nailed the eponymous French girl vibe they were going for—the bottle looks like it's straight off the shelves of a Parisian boutique. It's super chic and a bit more understated than the Viva La Juicy bottle we know and love. It looks like it was created for everyone who grew up with Juicy Couture, and is now in the world of luxe fragrances. As for the scent itself, it's exactly what you'd expect an adultified Juicy fragrance to smell like. Yes, it's floral and sweet, but not candy-sweet—it leans more into vanilla and amber, which gives it a more elevated and wearable feel, and it also has a subtle muskiness. The staying power is impressive. I spritzed it twice early this morning, and as I started writing this story half a day later, a group of coworkers walked by my desk and complimented the 'delicious fruity smell.' Four women agreeing on a scent and projection? I don't know what other cosign you need. For $105, I think this is definitely worthy of a spot in any gourmand lover's arsenal. The bottle design is super cute, and could stand out among simpler perfume bottles, or blend in with the luxury ones. If you're a floral or sweet gourmand stan (or both), I can totally see this being an everyday scent. It's super wearable, and since it's a pretty complex fragrance, I didn't even feel the need to layer it with other fragrances in my collection. And if you love an iconic perfume, this is definitely a great addition to the scent wardrobe. Jennifer Hudson will headline the Whitney Houston estate's fourth annual Legacy of Love Gala

NEW YORK (AP) — No one could replace the inimitable talent that was Whitney Houston. But when you need someone to sing her timeless tracks, the great EGOT (that's Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony winner) Jennifer Hudson has proven time and time again that she's up for the job. Hudson will headline the fourth annual Whitney Houston Legacy of Love gala on Aug. 9, presented by The Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation and Primary Wave Music. The event, held at the St. Regis Hotel in Atlanta on what would have been Houston's 62nd birthday, doubles as a celebration of 40 years since the launch of her career. Houston's self-titled debut album was released in 1985. The Legacy of Love gala will benefit the late singer's foundation aimed at helping young people. A grant will also be awarded to the Los Angeles-based Kids in the Spotlight, an organization that seeks to heal and empower children through storytelling and filmmaking. Houston founded the Whitney Houston Foundation for Children in 1989 with the goal of empowering youth, providing resources to unhoused children, giving out college scholarships, and raising funds for charities like the Children's Defense Fund and St. Jude Children's Research. A charity auction will raise money for the foundation, which is now called the Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation. Other performers include R&B singer-songwriter Meli'sa Morgan and Jimmy Avance. The gala will also feature a preview performance of the upcoming orchestral tour, 'The Voice of Whitney: A Symphonic Celebration,' conducted by William R. Langley. 'This year marks Whitney's fortieth anniversary and our fourth Annual Legacy of Love Gala and we are delighted how the foundation has developed and expanded over the past four years,' co-host Pat Houston said in a statement. She is Houston's sister-in-law and the executor of her estate. Houston died in February 2012 at age 48. 'Though Whitney is known worldwide for her exemplary talent in music and entertainment, one of the things she loved more than anything was supporting children and our youth. She always reached back to various communities globally."
