Bengaluru Startup Founder Chooses ₹12 Bus Over ₹175 Auto in Protest of High Fares
This is my personal protest against unreasonable auto prices, the founder said in a post that gained traction.
He also noted two key takeaways: the convenience of paying BMTC fares via UPI—eliminating the hassle of loose change—and the comfort of Switch Mobility electric buses. Acceleration could improve, but it's understandable given the passenger load variation, he added.
As Bengaluru's residents continue to grapple with unpredictable commute costs, this incident highlights growing public interest in smarter, sustainable, and affordable transit options.

10 Lakh Indians To Receive Free AI Training, Focus On Village Entrepreneurs
New Delhi: At least 10 lakh citizens will receive free training in artificial intelligence (AI) thanks to Common Service Centres (CSCs) which falls under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). According to IT and Electronics Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, CSC has reached nearly 90 per cent of villages in the country and "If there is any medium capable of reaching every village, it is CSC." "The village level entrepreneurs (VLEs) across the country have set a remarkable example by delivering the benefits of Digital India to every citizen," the minister said. "When the world questioned how a tea seller or a vegetable vendor could use digital payments, today that dream has come true - UPI payments have surpassed Visa transactions. This is the strength of 1.4 billion Indians," he mentioned. Mr Vaishnaw cited inspiring stories of VLE Manjulata from Mayurbhanj district and VLE Rose Angelina from Meghalaya. Despite challenging circumstances, both women acquired digital skills and empowered their communities. "Amid the scenic hills and remote villages of East West Khasi Hills in Meghalaya, woman VLE Rose Angelina M. Kharsyntiew has scripted a digital revolution. Through her centre in the Mairang area, she is not only delivering services but also setting an example of transformation, empowerment, and community service," Mr Vaishnaw added. The minister also urged all VLEs to start offering IRCTC services. Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, Jitin Prasada, underscored the role of CSCs in bridging the digital divide "The resolve to extend the benefits of Digital India to the last mile of society is being carried forward with the help of our VLE brothers and sisters. Ten years ago, when we began the Digital India initiative, the Prime Minister had the vision to lay the foundation for a developed India," he noted. He shared that in 2014, there were only 83,000 CSC centres, whereas today, their number has grown to nearly 5.50 lakh. Prasada emphasised the integration of Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS) with CSCs and acknowledged over 74,000 women VLEs who are setting new benchmarks in empowerment. "We are now in the era of Artificial Intelligence, and it is advancing rapidly. With time, we must use new technologies to bring positive change in people's lives and empower them," he said.

New UPI rules from July 15: What happens if payments fail now?
From July 15, new rules for UPI chargebacks have come into force, making it easier for users to get their money back if a payment goes wrong. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has brought in these changes to make handling failed payments and fraud complaints simpler and HAS CHANGED FOR USERS?Earlier, if someone raised a chargeback, say, when money was deducted, but they did not get what they paid for, and it got declined, the bank had to go through an extra needed special permission from NPCI to reprocess that claim through the UPI Reference Complaints System (URCS). Crypto scam: Fake investment app swindles hundreds in Uttara Kannada
Karwar: A sophisticated online investment scam has surfaced in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka, where hundreds of residents have reportedly fallen victim to a fake mobile application named 'MM Equity' or 'Master Money'. The app, which falsely promised substantial returns through investments in cryptocurrency, crude oil, and gold, has allegedly duped investors of crores of rupees. The scheme came to light after reports emerged from Dandeli taluk, where at least 279 individuals are suspected to have lost their savings. Alarmingly, despite the scale of the fraud, not a single victim has formally lodged a police complaint, prompting concern among law enforcement agencies. Police say the perpetrators created WhatsApp groups to lure victims and encouraged micro-investments starting from Rs6,000 up to Rs1 lakh or more. The app's interface mimicked genuine stock trading platforms but lacked any approval from India's financial regulators, including the SEBI and RBI. It bypassed safeguards such as demat accounts and UPI restrictions by using terms like 'Recharge' instead of 'Investment,' misleading users into believing they were paying for services rather than making risky financial transactions. Early investors were shown small gains to build trust, but once larger amounts were invested, the app developers severed communication. The app continued functioning even on weekends—unlike legitimate Indian stock exchanges—and displayed fake products under names resembling NSE and BSE listings. Dandeli Deputy SP Shivananda Madarkhandi told reporters that authorities are aware of widespread financial loss, but are yet to gather complete data due to victims' reluctance. The district police have now launched a cyber probe and have cautioned the public not to download the suspicious app. Officials also warned that such apps may collect personal data in addition to stealing funds, and urged the public to remain alert and report any fraudulent schemes. Local community leaders echoed the appeal, asking victims to come forward so that legal action can be initiated.
