NANJING, China, May 22, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- On May 20th, the 10th Nanjing University of the Arts 520 Graduation Exhibition Carnival kicked off with the theme 'Embracing AI, Digital Intelligence Empowers.' At the opening ceremony, two pioneers - Mr. Cai Yuanpei, a trailblazer of modern education in China, and Mr. Liu Haisu, a founding figure of the New Art Movement and modern art education - made a remarkable appearance 'across time and space' through high-precision digital human technology. As esteemed figures from the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts (the predecessor of Nanjing University of the Arts), they came together to pass on the spiritual torch of aesthetic and art education.
The spark of artificial intelligence is illuminating a new chapter in artistic creation, while a decade of dedicated cultivation is now resonating with the powerful voice of innovation in the digital-intelligence era. Highlights such as the 'Digital Intelligence · Chinese Attire' fashion design graduation showcase, the Bubble Music Festival Jazz Season, and the all-Chinese opera Thunderstorm jointly performed by Chinese and Canadian students are among the many standout events. This year's vibrant '520" celebration has attracted enthusiastic participation from art institutions in the United States, Australia, Italy, Singapore, Thailand, and more. Together with faculty and students from Nanjing University of the Arts, they are presenting a boundary-breaking, multicultural artistic feast.
'Over the past decade, Nanjing University of the Arts has pursued the vision of 'a campus-wide showcase, a city-wide celebration,' turning it into a vivid reality of 'a city and a university thriving together in symbiosis.' By embedding the DNA of art into the fabric of the city, we've created a cultural emblem that shines in Nanjing and radiates across Jiangsu,' said Yu Feng, Party Secretary of Nanjing University of the Arts.

‘Mecha Break' Is Finally Here, Get Ready For Some Epic Mecha Action

'Mecha Break' is finally out and available to play on PC and Xbox Series X|S. It's been a long while, but Mecha Break is finally here, and it delivers. With stunning visuals and fast-paced mecha combat, it's a blast to play. With multiple open betas and a long, troubled development history, it's taken a good while for the game to find its feet, but Mecha Break is now finally available to play on general release. It's also playable on Xbox Series X|S, and I've been giving it a proper go. It holds up surprisingly well on console with a pad, and it will be interesting to see how it does long-term. This is because, with the styling of the mecha designs and general high-speed aerial gameplay, I think that Mecha Break will find its audience mostly in Asia. So the choice of Xbox Series X|S to start with seems a bit strange, as the Xbox brand has never been popular in places like Japan, but a PlayStation 5 version is apparently still planned. You can also pick up the game over on PC via Steam, which is where I assume the bulk of the initial players will be. In any case, Mecha Break is a big and unashamed mecha game. Not a Gundam game trying to be an Overwatch clone, or a shooter with dudes cosplaying as mecha. ‘Gundam Hathaway' Gets A 90s Anime Makeover In Fan Animation

The Xi Gundam looks more like its Kazumi Fujita counterpart in this fan animation. Back when the Hathaway's Flash novels were written, no one thought we'd ever see an anime. So this new fan animation pays tribute to that in a very 90s way. Done by Space Boy, it approaches the story from the perspective of the original novels. That means character designs by Haruhiko Mikimoto and modified designs by Kazumi Fujita, based on Moriki Yasuhiro's original illustrations. It also means that we have four tone shading, which holds up with the rest of 90s mecha anime, which would have been how these books had been adapted, if Sunrise had decided to go ahead with an anime right after the books were published. Personally, I think this looks superb. It also looks like it's done in 3D with some clever shading to make it work. Going 3D also makes a lot of sense, as the Xi Gundam and Penelope are incredibly complex mobile suit designs. The recent movie version of the first novel is much flatter in terms of the shading, with more modern character design. It's still great, but part of me now wishes we'd had Hathaway's Flash adapted back in the 90s. Space Boy also did a video a few months back of the Messer mobile suits from the Hathaway's Flash novels. These are effectively the grunt mobile suits of Mafty and also pop up in the movie version. Talking of the movie version, you can watch the first Gundam Hathaway movie over on Netflix. With the second movie set for release this Winter. Follow me on X, Facebook and YouTube.
