Wiaan Mulder still adamant about THAT declaration with Brian Lara record there for the taking

Considering he made the fifth highest score in Test cricket history, South Africa's Wiaan Mulder's has an incredible amount of criticism for his incredible 367 not out against hosts Zimbabwe last month.
The reason for the criticism is that Mulder was also captaining South Africa for the first time in the Test in Bulawayo, but chose to declare the Proteas innings on 625 at lunch on day two.
With plenty of time left in the Test match, Mulder could have easily made an effort to eclipse the highest score in the format, which is the unbeaten 400 West Indian legend Brian Lara scored back in 2004.
A few weeks later, Mulder believes it was the correct call.

Mulder relives moment he turned down chasing Lara's 400
In what has become a season to remember, Wiaan Mulder has emerged not just as a stalwart with the bat but also as a maturing leader in South African cricket. From captaining his country to pulling up just short of one of the most iconic records in the sport, 2025 is shaping up to be the defining chapter in Mulder's career. Mulder was thrust into leadership unexpectedly during the second Test against Zimbabwe after Keshav Maharaj suffered a groin injury.
