MERCEDES has revealed the ultimate in luxury travel with a new MPV that's been likened to a 'private lounge'.
The new-look V-Class concept isn't just an ordinary-looking van with extra bells and whistles – it's potentially the king of all people carriers.

The German giants, who showcased the VIP shuttle at the Shanghai Motor Show, claim they have "set a benchmark" for the future of premium driving.
The new V-Class line-up promises a range of practical family vehicles that scale all the way up to 'luxurious limousines' – with the first model set to arrive in 2026.
While the exterior might resemble a slightly more futuristic-looking van, Mercedes says it 'marks the next step' in their design language, with aerodynamics playing a significant role in its appearance.
Autocar notes that it features a new grille, similar to that found on the EQS, as well as a tweaked headlamp design and an illuminated standing star logo.
Sadly, it seems that the sleek rear light bar will likely be toned down before it enters mass production.
But the best features can be found inside the four-seat cabin, which has been dubbed a 'private lounge' for the vehicle's rear passengers.
These include white Nappa leather upholstery and a retractable 65-inch cinema screen, along with a 42-speaker sound system and two airline-style seats that are fully reclinable.
If that isn't enough, there are seven projectors fitted to create different ambiences, while the rear windows can be switched from transparent to opaque to give passengers a 'unique cocooning effect'.
For those who don't just want to relax, the MPV can transform into a gaming hub, offering, for example, racing games that can be controlled with a fully integrated controller.
There's even a karaoke feature – for those who do their best singing behind the wheel.
Luxury £1m motorhome with huge living space, heated floors & spa bathroom
At this stage, it's hard to determine which features will carry over to the production model – although it's safe to assume the production-spec steering wheel, the three-screen Superscreen, and crystal-look air vents will be included.
So too is the extensive interior space – made possible by Mercedes' VAN.EA platform.
This follows last year's unveiling by iconic tuning company Brabus - renowned for their long-standing partnership with Mercedes - of the ultimate home on wheels.
Dubbed the Big Boy 1200, the mighty motorhome comes equipped with a full kitchen, a luxury living room, and even heated flooring, all wrapped up in a staggering £1 million price tag.
The 12-metre-long, 26-tonne motorhome is based on the Mercedes Actros truck and has been expertly converted by Belgian specialist STX Motorhomes.
Packed with high-end features, the Big Boy 1200 offers a 30-square-metre living space – comparable in size to a small one-bedroom flat.
This impressive space is made possible by four electrically powered slide-out modules, which expand the bedroom and living areas when the vehicle is stationary.

Hamilton to start from the pit lane in Belgium

SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS, Belgium, July 27 (Reuters) - Lewis Hamilton will start Sunday's Belgian Grand Prix from the pit lane with a new power unit after qualifying only 16th, Ferrari said. The seven-times Formula One world champion won at Spa with Mercedes last year but has had a nightmare so far, qualifying 18th in Friday's sprint qualifying and finishing 15th in Saturday's 100km race. Hamilton has won five times in Belgium and has been on the podium in all but two of the races he has finished at the longest circuit on the calendar. The Briton, who moved to the Italian team in January and has yet to stand on the podium for them, apologised to Ferrari on Saturday for a performance he said was unacceptable. Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso and Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli will also start from the pit lane after those teams also changed engine components. Sunday's race is set to be wet. The Formula Two feature race started behind the safety car while the Formula Three race was cancelled entirely due to the conditions.

Lewis Hamilton made his disappointment known after huge blow at Belgian GP

Lewis Hamilton was left to rue yet another poor qualifying performance for Ferrari in the Belgian Grand Prix after the British icon was knocked out in Q1 on Saturday Any hopes Lewis Hamilton has of defending his title at Spa suffered a major blow following Saturday's qualifying disaster. And it marks the second consecutive Belgian Grand Prix that has witnessed the Formula 1 legend embroiled in drama. ‌ Ferrari required their driver to deliver an improved lap time during his final Q1 attempt to progress to the next phase. And he managed precisely that in the dying moments to climb to seventh position. ‌ However, officials struck off the time and eliminated Hamilton after ruling he had violated track limits. This resulted in his Q1 exit having also crashed out in the opening phase of sprint qualifying. ‌ Hamilton, 40, had benefited from the chaos last year when then-Mercedes teammate George Russell claimed victory before being stripped of the win when his vehicle came in under-weight. This elevated second-place Hamilton to first on the podium, though he still took time to express solidarity with his former partner despite his moment of glory. "Mixed feelings for today's result," he posted on social media as he put the squad's achievement first. "Obviously happy to get the win but I feel for George and it's disappointing for the team not to get the one-two. "A lot of positives to take from today though. At the start of the weekend, we didn't expect to be at the front or the pace we had, so it's great to see just how much progress has been made and that we are in the fight. We take all these positives with us into the break and will come back a stronger team ready to keep the momentum going." At that point, the surprise boost meant Hamilton secured his second consecutive victory having also topped the podium at Silverstone shortly before. Yet it was clear from his remarks the seasoned driver harboured genuine worries about the team missing out. Those concerns surfaced again after Ferrari suffered disappointment due to his shortfall at Spa this weekend. Hamilton was swift to offer his apologies to colleagues after failing to deliver as planned. ‌ "Not particularly," he replied when questioned if he was starting to feel settled with Ferrari's latest modifications. "I was the same as I was for the rest of the weekend. We made some changes, the car didn't feel terrible. "I think it was even tougher for us. We had to put a second set [of soft tyres] on just to get through Q1. ‌ "Then from my side, another mistake, so I've really got to look internally. I've got to apologise to my team, because that's just unacceptable to be out in both Q1s. It's a very, very poor performance from myself." Hamilton suffered a spin in his SF-25 during the sprint qualifying on Friday, where he managed only the 18th fastest time. The mishap occurred when Hamilton locked his rear tyres and spun, an incident he later referred to as a first in his career, attributed to a new component on his car. Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc had a much better run, finishing Saturday's qualifying in P3. This places him in a strong position to vie for the team's first win of 2025, while Hamilton's quest for his maiden podium finish in Ferrari colours looks set to continue.

New car sales shot up 90% to 32,960 units, while used vehicle sales rose 89.5% to 41,580 units. Group 1's revenues skyrocketed from £1.18bn to £2.3bn in the first half of the year - with gross profit jumping 109.6% to a whopping £313m. The company also reported its UK gross margin improved from 12.6% to 13.6%. This performance comes amid Group 1's ongoing restructuring efforts since August last year, which included integrating Inchcape UK's dealerships after a £346m deal last year. The shake-up is expected to put 370 jobs at risk as of the end of June this year, though exact numbers have yet to be confirmed. A spokesperson for Group 1 said: "In line with other retailers, we continue to face cost headwinds relating to tax increases announced in the last Budget, and in response we have identified opportunities to remove duplication, streamline processes and decentralise certain roles to drive efficiencies across the business." In the second quarter, Group 1 shut down two Mercedes-Benz dealerships as part of efforts to improve its UK portfolio. The group took a $7.6m (£6.1m) hit tied to layoffs and dealership closures, and has spent $18.7 million (£14m) so far this year on restructuring its UK operations. Daryl Kenningham, Group 1 president and CEO, said: 'The U.K. market continues to be challenging in terms of industry volumes and with BEV mandate-related margin pressures.' Watch Tesla test self-driving cars on London streets as it passes famous landmarks He added: 'Integration efforts are largely complete and most U.K. brands are performing to expectations, with positive momentum anticipated in the second half of the year. "SG&A leverage improvement remains a focus in the U.K., with room for further gains. "We'll continue to pursue balanced growth while executing opportunistic share repurchases. "Additionally, we're actively reviewing underperforming stores and developing appropriate plans." US giant Group 1 Automotive runs one of the biggest car dealer networks in the UK. The UK division operates over 115 dealerships and employs more than 7,000 staff. The group represents over 21 brands, including Audi, BMW, Citroën, Ford, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche. It comes as Group 1 recently announced the closure of its Volkswagen Telford dealership - just months after shutting down three other sites.
