Jimmy Butler knows a thing or two about a high-stakes sports atmosphere, so who better to show Steph Curry some support during the final round of the American Century Championship on Sunday in South Lake Tahoe.

The Warriors forward showed up to cheer on his teammate as Curry battles for another ACC title on the celebrity golf tournament's final day — certainly a welcome sight for the four-time NBA champion, who started the day tied for ninth and had pushed into the top five by the time he greeted Butler.
Butler and Curry were on the court together two months ago as Golden State played against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference semifinals, but the Warriors' NBA playoff run was cut short after their Game 5 loss on May 14.
After their postseason push, it looks like Butler is still a bit too tired to walk from hole to hole in Tahoe.
As Curry looks to reclaim his ACC crown following a one-year absence from the tournament, perhaps Playoff Jimmy's presence will help him lock in even more than he already has. Butler's 2025 NBA trade deadline arrival paid dividends for the Warriors, and in the fall they'll begin their first full campaign together after forging a bond in just a few short months last season.

Time will tell if Curry adds another ACC title to his mantle before he and Butler begin their path to the Larry O'Brien Trophy come October.

'It's a blessing.' Cincinnati HS football, baseball star Matt Ponatoski commits to Kentucky
The Fourth of July fireworks continued into Sunday night for the Ponatoski family. Shortly after Matt, a four-star quarterback and MaxPreps baseball All-American, committed to the University of Kentucky, his family lit off blue and white fireworks at their home in Hamilton. On the football field, Moeller's Matt Ponatoski holds school records for career passing yards, career passing touchdowns and single-game passing touchdowns. Last fall, Ponatoski threw for 4,217 yards and 57 touchdowns, both single-season school records, to lead Moeller to its first Division I state championship game since 2013. For his career, he has 7,654 passing yards, 87 touchdowns and just 12 interceptions. He became the second player in school history to be named Ohio Mr. Football after Jordan Marshall won the award in 2023. He was also named the Gatorade Ohio Football Player of the Year. From June 17 to 19, Ponatoski attended the Elite 11 finals in Southern California. It is dubbed as the nation's premier quarterback camp series since 1999. He competed alongside Tennessee commit Faizon Brandon, Texas commit Dia Bell and Landon Duckworth, who is one of the top uncommitted prospects in the class of 2026. After being named the Pro Day MVP and performing well in the camp's 7-on-7 competition, he earned high praise from various scouting services. Kentucky currently has five quarterbacks on its roster for this fall: graduate students Zach Calzada and Beau Allen, and freshmen Cutter Boley, Stone Saunders and Brennen Ward. Kentucky football's Mark Stoops is on ropes. But don't count him out in SEC
Kentucky football is in trouble. Mark Stoops is the only one who can save it, which may seem a bit ironic because he's been the coach for the past 13 seasons and is responsible for its current state. The Wildcats are coming off a 4-8 season last year and face the same SEC schedule that made them face three College Football Playoff programs last season in Texas, Georgia and Tennessee and two more programs that were on the periphery of an at-large bid in Ole Miss and South Carolina. In all, nine programs on UK's schedule played in a bowl game last season. Advertisement Having to go through the SEC gauntlet was among myriad reasons why plenty of Stoops' coaching peers and friends warned him not to take the job back in 2012: It's a basketball school. Its recruiting base is too shallow. Winning can't be sustained there. The Cats appear headed in the wrong direction, just as the program did back in 2012 when Stoops was hired, if he can't change course soon. The same reasons why he defied the naysayers back then are the same reasons why he could turn it around this season. Stoops saw enough potential in UK back then to take a chance. And entering a season in which the odds are once again stacked against the Cats might just be the place he needs to recalibrate what works in the program. Advertisement There are a number of memes circulating on social media of 'motivated' Mark Stoops, which initially was a sarcastic reference to an interview he had with Kentucky Sports Radio in the spring but has now morphed into a bit of a movement. The success he had — recording two 10-win seasons and taking the Cats to eight straight bowl games for the first time in program history — didn't come easy but was consistent enough to where Stoops may have gotten a bit too comfortable. He had some missteps like thinking his offensive coordinator was interchangeable. The Cats had a different OC in each of the past five seasons including new Jacksonville Jaguars coach Liam Coen coaching in 2021, leaving for a year and returning in 2023 — before heading back to the NFL. Bush Hamdan's return as offensive coordinator will mark the first time since Eddie Gran held the position from 2016-2020 that UK has had the same OC in consecutive years. Advertisement Continuity matters, which is why just the optics of former associate head coach and recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow leaving to become the general manager at rival Louisville after being in Lexington for the entirety of Stoops' tenure was a tough blow. But if we've learned anything about Stoops in his decade-plus in Lexington, it's that the man from Youngstown, Ohio, wasn't raised to back down from a fight. He's landed a few punches of his own in recruiting after Marrow's exodus with 15 commitments including quarterback Matt Ponatoski, a two-sport star from Cincinnati. UK also flipped receiver Denairius Gray earlier this month after he originally committed to Auburn. What matters, of course, is that Stoops gets some of those wins on the field next season. Kentucky hasn't had back-to-back losing seasons since posting identical 5-7 records in Stoops' second and third years at the helm in 2014 and 2015. Advertisement He's got a greater challenge now, maybe even monumental given the schedule. Then again, it's not much different than the low expectations he faced when he first took over the program. Grace Kim produces improbable late comeback at Evian Championship to clinch first major
Grace Kim produced one of the most remarkable comebacks you are ever likely see as she clinched the Evian Championship to become just the fifth Australian woman to win a golf major. The 24-year-old was three shots off the lead with four holes left to play in Sunday's final round, but closed with birdie, birdie, par and eagle to draw level with Thailand's Jeeno Thitikul at the top of the leaderboard and force a playoff. However, the comeback looked like it would end early as she hit her second shot on the first playoff hole into the pond by the 18th green. But remarkably, Kim chipped in from where she had taken a drop to force the playoff to a second hole, where she sunk a 20-foot eagle putt to seal the most improbable of major triumphs. 'Obviously, it's a huge achievement for me,' Kim said, per Reuters. 'I've had a lot of doubts early this year. I was kind of losing motivation. 'I kind of had to get some hard conversations done with the team. Yeah, kind of had to wake up a little bit. So to be sitting here next to this trophy is definitely surreal.' Kim, who battled a cold throughout the tournament, has struggled on the LPGA Tour since winning the Lotte Championship in Hawaii in 2023, her rookie season. She had recorded just one top-10 finish in her last 11 appearances, per Reuters, and earlier this year slipped down to world No. 100. But after securing her second LPGA Tour title, Kim has now joined exclusive company in Australian women's golf. Fellow Australian Minjee Lee, also a major winner, was watching from the side of the green as Kim sunk the winning putt, before running on to spray her with champagne. Seven-time major winner Karrie Webb and three-time winners Jan Stephenson and Hannah Green also make up the exclusive club. 'I saw there is a picture of Karrie as you walk into the locker room, walking down 18 as well, so seeing that each day is motivating' Kim said. 'Obviously, Minjee's first major was this one and this is now mine as well.'
