Donald Trump says BRICS including India will face 10% tariff for trying to 'destroy' US dollars
US President Donald Trump said that countries in the BRICS group like India will have to pay a 10 per cent tax on goods they sell to the U.S. He claimed BRICS was formed to hurt the United States and weaken the U.S. dollar, which he called 'the king.' Trump said, 'If India is in BRICS, then they'll have to pay. BRICS was created to damage our economy and remove the dollar as the global standard. If they want to go down that path, I can respond too. So, any country in BRICS will face a 10 per cent tariff.'
He also warned that trying to replace the US dollar would come at a high cost. 'If they want to challenge the dollar, it won't be easy and I don't think they're ready to pay the price,' he added.
Trump went on to say that he believes BRICS is no longer strong. 'I said it a year ago — BRICS has mostly fallen apart, but a few countries are still holding on,' he told reporters.
Trump also said he doesn't see BRICS as a serious threat but believes the group is trying to weaken the U.S. dollar so another country can replace it as the global standard. 'We're not going to let that happen,' he said.
Trump also criticized President Joe Biden, saying the U.S. needs a smart leader to protect the dollar's role in the world. He warned that with 'a foolish president like the last one,' the U.S. could lose the dollar's global status.
'If we have strong leadership, we'll never lose the dollar's position,' Trump said. 'But if we have weak leadership, we could lose it and that would change everything for our country. The dollar is king, and we're going to keep it that way.' Trump announces 50% tariff on copper, warns of big hike on Pharma imports
Trump has announced a new 50% import tax on copper, adding to earlier tariffs he had imposed on steel and aluminium. He also warned that tariffs on medicines and pharmaceutical products imported into the U.S. could rise by as much as 200% within a year.
Trump made it clear that he would not delay the August 1 deadline for these higher tariffs to kick in across many countries.
This is an important development for India, as the U.S. is India's biggest market for pharmaceutical exports and also a major buyer of Indian copper and related goods.
Speaking during a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Trump said, 'Today we're doing copper. I think we'll put the tariff at 50%.'

Epstein client list: Megyn Kelly blasts Pam Bondi, calls her 'too lazy' as MAGA wants her to resign

Megyn Kelly says Pam Bondi's days in Trump administration are number after her massive Epstein fail. Right-wing commentator Meghyn Kelly has been the latest to turn on Attorney General Pam Bondi after the US administration closed the Epstein case forever, announcing that the convicted sex offender indeed died by suicide in his prison cell, and he did not have a list of clients. The joint memo of the DOJ and the FBI led to a major meltdown of the MAGA activists, as releasing Epstein files was one of the promises that the Donald Trump administration promised with certainty. Megyn Kelly said onher show that Pam Bondi's days are numbered as a member of the Trump administration. 'Pam Bondi knew she was about to embarrass some of his most loyal surrogates out there, and did that willingly, or she didn't take the time to make sure what was in those binders,' Kelly said. 'It was all publicly released information that had already been out there…She was too lazy to actually figure out none of this is new, and yet she called a meeting with the influencers that included Kash Patel, the head of the FBI, and the sitting vice president. ' 'Then she acted indignant. She didn't know. It was the sleazy FBI who had withheld the real documents from her,' Kelly said. 'She was going to get to the bottom of it. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Official IQ Test - Updated 2025 IQ International Undo Then she said further release would come. One did not come. Then she was caught on tape saying there are tens of thousands of kiddie porn or child pornography material that we found, which again, is like, a third issue over here. And next thing we know there's no there there. ' 'They f***ed up because they trusted her,' Kelly said. 'They were humiliated because she gave them all these binders that read 'Epstein Files,' you know, 'Volume 1,' and there was nothing new in there. Nothing. There was no scoop. Why would she do that?' Bondi claimed she never said there was a client list waiting on her desk during a February Fox News interview, and what she was referring to was the overall Epstein file. She also claimed the files not released were child porn which would not be made public after she previously teased 'truckloads' of evidence. What Trump said on no ' Epstein client list ' When Trump was asked about his administration failing to keep its promise of releasing Epstein list, and instead coming up with the defense that there is no list, Trump expressed wonder that people are still talking about Epstein. "Are you still talking about Jeffrey Epstein?" Trump said. "This guy, we have been talking about for years. You are asking... We have Texas and other issues, and people are still talking about this creep guy that is unbelievable. You are a waste of time. I mean, I can't believe you are asking a question about him and at a time like this, when we are having some of the greatest success and tragedy with what happened in Texas. It seems like a disaggregation."

6 from Birbhum nabbed by Delhi cops, pushed into B'desh: Pleas in HC

1 2 3 Kolkata: Six Birbhum residents, including three minors, who worked as ragpickers in Delhi, were labelled 'Bangladeshi' and nabbed by police on June 18 and pushed into Bangladesh by BSF on June 26, two habeas corpus petitions filed in Calcutta High Court alleged. HC was likely to take up the petitions on Friday, Trinamool Rajya Sabha MP and state migrant workers' welfare board chairperson Samirul Islam said. The pleas said two families of migrant workers were picked up by Delhi Police during an "identity verification drive" among the Bengali-speaking population. Among the detained, Sweety Bibi and her two minor sons as well as Danish Sheikh, his wife Sunali Khatun and their five-year-old son were sent to Bangladesh, Islam alleged. "Sunali's sister informed us of what had happened. On July 6, I took her father Bhodu Sk to Paikar police station and lodged a missing diary," he said. "Sunali is now four months pregnant. It is terrible that their five-year-old son is also going through these traumatic events, only because they speak Bengali," Pintu added. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Sunali's sister, Roshni Bibi, who also works as a ragpicker in Delhi, said: "From June 18 to June 22, they were kept in Delhi's Katju Nagar police station. I met her there. My sister later called me from Bangladesh and said some people had given her shelter on seeing that she was pregnant." The petition said Sweety's husband, Azizul Dewan, went missing four years ago, so she supported the family, including her aged and ailing parents. The HC petitions stated that all six were Indian citizens and permanent residents of Paikar, and were unlawfully detained by Delhi Police in an extrajudicial manner. The petitions said they had valid Indian documents; proof of their parents' citizenship was also submitted in court. The petitions said the six were deprived of their liberty and had their human rights violated, because they were detained and pushed out of the country for speaking their mother tongue, undermining the pluralistic ethos of India.
