Yogi opens Agra's largest housing plan

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the 'Atal Puram Township' project in Agra on Tuesday. This is the largest housing initiative by the Agra Development Authority (ADA) in the last 36 years. Spanning across 340 acres near the Agra Inner Ring Road, the housing project is marked by planned expansion and modern infrastructure. It is located at the confluence of the Agra Inner Ring Road, Southern Bypass and Gwalior Road. An official said that a key highlight of the project was the historic decision by ADA to directly purchase land from farmers through mutual agreement and offer compensation at four times the prevailing circle rate. The land purchase cost alone amounted to Rs 784 crore, while an additional Rs 731 crore will be invested in the township's development. Atal Puram will be developed in three phases across 11 sectors, offering housing to almost 10,000 families. The plan includes 1,430 residential plots, 18 group housing plots, and 96 commercial plots. Essential public facilities such as a police post, a fire station and a state-of-the-art convention centre will be constructed there.

‘Buying foreign products aids terrorism': Yogi urges spending on swadeshi

Agra: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath during a public meeting in Aligarh on Tuesday appealed to the gathering to promote swadeshi (indigenous) products, especially during festivals and celebrations, cautioning that money spent on foreign goods could end up in the hands of terrorists and anti-national forces. "If we buy local products, the money goes to our artisans and craftsmen, strengthening the nation. But if it goes abroad, it can be used for terrorism, conversion, and creating anarchy," he said, urging people to be mindful while making purchases. Earlier in the day, the CM had held a meeting with public representatives from the Aligarh division. He noted that before 2017, markets in UP were flooded with Chinese goods, but the one district one product (ODOP) scheme introduced in the state in 2018 brought local products to the forefront, generating jobs and boosting artisan livelihoods. Emphasising on the economic potential of local industries, including Aligarh's lock-making sector, Yogi said, "When our artisans work with dedication, their earnings bring prosperity not only to their families but also to the wider community. This prosperity strengthens the market and contributes to the nation's development. When we purchase foreign-made products, its profit goes into foreign hands; these funds may be used for terrorism, conversion, love jihad, and Naxal activities. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like I Lost My Passport in Rome. "Apart from the govt and administration, the participation of the public is essential in maintaining cleanliness. If we stop throwing garbage onto roads and drains, cleanliness will be maintained automatically." The CM also launched 186 development projects worth Rs 957 crore during a public rally held at Numaish Maidan in Aligarh. He laid the foundation for 103 projects worth Rs 500 crore and inaugurated 83 completed projects worth Rs 457 crore. He also distributed computer tablets to students, Ayushman Bharat cards to beneficiaries, and symbolic house keys under the PM Awas Yojana. Anil Ambani leaves ED office after 9 hours of questioning in ₹17,000 crore PMLA case — Watch

New Delhi: Industrialist Anil Ambani on Tuesday appeared before the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) in connection with an alleged fund diversion case, two people aware of the development said. The agency, which probes money laundering and violations of foreign exchange laws, is investigating an alleged diversion of funds from Reliance Infrastructure to a related party without adequate disclosures. The company had last week said this exposure was of ₹ 6,500 crore and that it had disclosed this matter in February itself. Reliance Infrastructure maintains it has diligently pursued recovery of its dues in this matter, and through mandatory mediation proceedings conducted by a retired Supreme Court Judge and the mediation award filed before the Bombay High Court, the company had arrived at a settlement to recover its exposure of ₹ 6,500 crore. Anil Ambani has not been on the board of Reliance Infrastructure since March 2022. Queries emailed to Anil Ambani's Reliance Group and to the finance ministry on Tuesday, seeking their comments on the latest development remained unanswered at the time of publishing this report. News agency ANI reported that Ambani was asked to appear before investigators in connection with a probe on suspected financial irregularities and possible violations under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The probe agency is looking into the role of various entities and individuals linked to the case, ANI reported. In May 2020, the ministry of corporate affairs had referred the issue of Price Waterhouse & Co Chartered Accountants LLP's (PW) resignation as auditors of some of the group companies without giving an audit report for FY19, to the National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA). NFRA had looked into the audits done by the auditors appointed subsequently in the case of Reliance Home Finance Ltd, Reliance Commercial Finance Ltd and Reliance Capital Ltd, and penalised the auditors for alleged professional misconduct, the authority's orders showed. Reliance Infrastructure provides engineering and construction services for power, roads, metro rail and other infrastructure sectors. It is also engaged in implementation, operation and maintenance of several projects in the defence sector and infrastructure areas through its special purpose vehicles, the company said on its website. It had executed the Mumbai Metro line one project and is also a utility company having presence across the value chain of energy businesses, the company said. The ED had earlier issued a lookout circular against Ambani and had sought his presence for recording his statement under the PMLA, Hindustan Times had reported on 1 August.
