Scottish star's life after quitting acting 30 years on from debut
Daniela Nardini, who became a household name as lawyer Anna Forbes in the 1996 BBC2 hit series This Life, is now barely recognisable from her days on screen. The actress, who also graced episodes of the Scottish crime drama Taggart, was close to quitting acting before securing her role in the acclaimed sitcom.
This Life, which spanned 33 episodes and 11 years, followed a group of aspiring law graduates navigating their careers at a London law firm.
The show enjoyed two successful series and a sequel TV movie in 2007 titled This Life +10. Daniela's portrayal of Anna won her a BAFTA at the age of 57, but she later chose to leave the limelight and now runs her own cognitive behavioural therapy practice in Glasgow.
Her second BAFTA came in 2009 for her performance in the BBC Four drama New Town. Daniela's career also included roles in Vera, Waterloo Road, and The Fades, until she stepped back from acting in 2019, reports the Express.
Pursuing a new direction, Daniela trained as a mental health professional, offering support to individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, behavioural issues, and those affected by cancer and addiction.
Three decades after her breakout role, Daniela has transformed remarkably, embracing a fresh chapter in her life. In a Psychology Today profile, she reflects on her extensive acting career, stating: "I have worked as an actress for over 35 years.

"This has been an invaluable education for me to study what it is to be human and how we can all suffer at times and feel misunderstood and lonely.
"I myself have struggled at times. My practice involves helping you gain insight, clarity and believe it or not humour at times. I don't shock easily so I won't judge."
Speaking with the Daily Mail in 2020, she shared her personal tribulations saying: " went through a very dark period. Sometimes I wonder if it was all the emotional stuff I was going through that caused my cancer.'"
She added: "A couple of years down the road, I now feel as if I've emerged stronger and a better person, really. Anna would be proud."

The pair will embody Ben Cooper and Diane Fry, two contrasting young investigators forced to collaborate whilst tackling a series of puzzling fatalities, learning to unite their different approaches to achieve success. Located in the stunning Peak District, the drama follows Ben and Diane as they develop a "unique friendship" with their personal circumstances becoming increasingly entangled, though the journey "won't always be easy". Clapperboard produces the series in partnership with STUDIO TF1, who also handle distribution, following a commission from Paul Testar, Commissioning Editor at Channel 5. Audiences will instantly recognise Robert James-Collier from his roles as the scheming Thomas Barrow in Downton Abbey, the charming Liam Connor in Coronation Street, and the dedicated Martin Evershed in Ackley Bridge. On the other hand, Mandip Gill is celebrated for her portrayal of Phoebe McQueen in Hollyoaks, the adventurous Yasmin Khan in Doctor Who, and the intriguing Sonia Chopra in Suspicion. "Our officers were sent to the scene but the man in question was already dead by the time help arrived. "The fall was from from the third floor of the hotel to an outside part of the complex. "Court officials authorised the removal of his body at 2.40am this morning. "The fall could be accidental based on the early information obtained from cameras but as part of the investigation possible witnesses will need to be located and interviewed. "The results of the post-mortem will also be important to the investigation.' Ibiza Rocks released a statement this afternoon which states that they have suspended all their events. It read: "We are deeply shocked and devastated by the recent incidents that have tragically occurred. "Our priority is to support those affected and their loved ones during this incredibly difficult time, and to fully assist the authorities with their investigations. "The safety and wellbeing of our guests has, and always will remain, our highest priority. Given the seriousness of the situation and out of respect for those involved, we believe it is right to pause our advertised events programme at this time. "All customers will be informed directly via email." A spokesperson for the UK Foreign Office told The Courier: 'We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Spain and are in contact with the local authorities.'

In the Bushes, is the title of this theatrical, wry, energetic dance work which showcases the very distinctive style of choreographer and director Léa Tirabasso. We caught up with Léa, who shares her time between London and Luxembourg to ask her more about the piece – her fourth full-length dance work – which was inspired by questions around the gaze, societal conventions and fed by the reading of The Accidental Species: Misunderstandings of Human Evolution, by Henry Gee. Supplied | Camilla Greenwell 'The piece is very absurd, but it's also very funny,' she says. 'I wanted us to laugh. The world desperately needs to laugh… I wanted to embrace nonsense.' Henry Gee's premise is: 'There is nothing special about being human, any more than there is anything special about being a guinea pig or a geranium.' Léa explains: 'I have been exploring through my work, what being human means, and we are bizarre, quirky, grotesque but lovable creatures.' 'I do not think you need to be a dance expert to enjoy this,' she said. 'The movement is the centre but we use voice and faces. It's a very playful piece and would appeal to anyone who wants to laugh and who maybe, has lost faith in humanity.' About the production Reviewed as 'Masterfully choreographed' by Broadway World, In the Bushes brings six extraordinary dancers in a surreal world. With a cinematic electronic score by Johanna Bramli and Ed Chivers, the production is a delight for the eyes and the ears – with bursts of classical, opera and pop music accompanying the fast-paced action. The quirky colourful costumes, sometimes worn, sometimes discarded, designed by Jennifer Lopes Santos, add to the visual stimulation, while the atmospheric lighting states are designed by Ben Moon. The six dancers are Catarina Barbosa, Georges Maikel Pires Monteiro, Karl Fagerlund Brekke, Laura Lorenzi, Mayowa Ogunnaike and Stefania Pinato. Bohumil KOSTOHRYZ Léa, who studied art history and literature in Lyon before training at London Contemporary Dance School, manages to bring a playful touch to some serious philosophical questions. I wanted lightness and that's what the absurdity helped me achieve Léa Tirabasso But the production is nonetheless physically extremely demanding on the dancers, and gives the audience plenty to ponder. The dance was first staged in November last year, and has been performed in France, London and Luxembourg. When asked to describe who the dance would appeal to and what the audience can expect Léa said: 'Someone who wants to go on a journey with us, enter a world that is surreal, someone who will allow themselves to feel feelings which might be uncomfortable.
