KTR flays Congress over arrests of protesting youth

Hans India9 hours ago
Hyderabad: Targeting the government on arrests of the students taking up 'Chalo Secretariat', the BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Friday said that arresting the unemployed who came to protest against the betrayal of Rahul Gandhi that he would create two lakh jobs in a year is the most evil act.
The BRS leader asked CM A Revanth Reddy, who said that the doors of the Secretariat would always be open during 'Indiramma Rajyam', couldn't he see the hardships of the unemployed? Does Revanth, who called Rahul Gandhi at Ashok Nagar Cross Roads and had a tea party with the unemployed, not remember the job calendar after assuming office? While it is atrocious to arrest unemployed people from many districts across Telangana from coming to Hyderabad to sabotage the Chalo Secretariat program, it is appalling to arrest those who came to the Secretariat today to protest.
KTR said that Revanth, who called Delhi leaders in the name of the Youth Declaration and deceived them, did not issue notifications of 10,000 jobs in a year and a half, which is a blow to the unemployed. The unemployed would never forgive the incompetent Chief Minister who gave appointment orders for 60,000 jobs that had completed the process during the BRS government. The Chief Minister who deceived students by assuring to fulfil all the promises made in the job calendar within a year was sure to face the wrath of the unemployed. The unemployed who have taken up the Chalo Secretariat program cannot be illegally arrested and their throats cannot be choked.
They should be released unconditionally immediately and the Chief Minister should keep his word otherwise, the party would announce a BRS movement on behalf of the lakhs of unemployed in the state and bend the necks of the Revanth government.

National Herald case: AICC attempted to revive AJL, Cheema tells court

The ED alleges the Gandhis held a majority 76 percent share in Young Indian, which fraudulently usurped the assets of AJL in exchange for a ₹90 crore loan Press Trust of India New Delhi Senior advocate R S Cheema, representing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, on Saturday argued that the AICC was not trying to sell the assets of Associated Journals Limited (AJL), but rather attempting to save the institution, which was part of the freedom movement. Cheema began his rebuttal before Special Judge Vishal Gogne. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has accused Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, late Congress leaders Motilal Vora and Oscar Fernandes, as well as Suman Dubey, Sam Pitroda, and a private company, Young Indian, of conspiracy and money laundering over the fraudulent takeover of properties valued at over ₹2,000 crore belonging to Associated Journals Limited (AJL), which published the National Herald newspaper. "Can my friend (ED counsel) tell me why they were shy of placing the Memorandum of Association (MoA) of AJL. AJL was established in 1937 by Jawaharlal Nehru, J. B. Kripalani, Rafi Ahmed Kidwai, and others. "The AJL MoA said that the policy of AJL will be the policy of the INC. All through, AJL did not have profits. In the post-independence period, it was never a commercial institution. We (All India Congress Committee) were trying to retrieve an institution which is part of the freedom movement heritage. The problem was not recovering the loan (given to AJL); the problem was to revive it, to see that it comes back on the rails. AICC was not looking for profit from sales. This is a squinted version," Cheema said. The ED alleges the Gandhis held a majority 76 percent share in Young Indian, which fraudulently usurped the assets of AJL in exchange for a ₹90 crore loan. Earlier, on Friday, senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi concluded his arguments on behalf of Sonia Gandhi. On July 3, Raju argued on the point of the chargesheet's cognisance, saying the Gandhis were the "beneficial owners" of Young Indian and acquired total control after the death of other shareholders. The ED filed its chargesheet against the Gandhis and others under Sections 3 (money laundering) and 4 (punishment for money laundering) of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The chargesheet also names Dubey, Pitroda, Sunil Bhandari, Young Indian, and Dotex Merchandise Private Limited.

Release job notifications, demand unemployed youth in Telangana

HYDERABAD: Demanding the release of all pending job notifications and payment of unemployment allowance , members of the Telangana Nirudyoga JAC on Friday tried to gherao the Secretariat. Backed by various student organisations, the unemployed youth warned that they would organise a massive dharna if the state govt failed to release at least a few notifications before the panchayat elections. "It is because of unemployed youth that the Congress govt has come to power. Now, they are least bothered to fulfil the promises made to the unemployed youth. The govt is completely neglecting us by delaying job opportunities. If they don't release at least a couple of notifications before the panchayat election dates are announced, the youth will teach them a lesson in the polls," said Umesh Madipeddi from the JAC, adding that a curfew-like situation prevailed at RTC Crossroads and near the Secretariat to foil ' Chalo Secretariat ' programme. They alleged that tens of unemployed youth and student leaders were picked up by police on Thursday night to prevent them from reaching the Secretariat. "The govt should implement the job calendar and issue notifications for jobs, fill all vacant positions in govt departments. It should focus on issuing job notifications with the same attention it shows in making arrests," said Anaganti Venkatesh, state secretary, DYFI. He claimed that over 200 people were picked up by the police. Meanwhile, the police said that though a large number of people tried to reach the Secretariat, only 10 of them were successful, as others were picked up from different locations to prevent them from participating in the 'Chalo Secretariat' programme. "The ten people, who reached the Secretariat, were also picked up," police added.
