Bersatu's Razali Idris ordered to enter defence over sedition charge linked to Zahid-Syed Saddiq speech in 2023
KUALA LUMPUR, June 12 — Bersatu leader Datuk Razali Idris has been ordered by the Sessions Court to enter his defence on a sedition charge over remarks made during a speech in 2023.
Judge Norma Ismail ruled that the prosecution had successfully established all elements of the charge against Razali, who is also a Terengganu state executive councillor, Free Malaysia Today reported today.
Razali's lawyer, Awang Armadajaya Awang Mahmud, said the defence plans to call between three and four witnesses to testify.
The hearing is scheduled to resume on September 26.
Deputy public prosecutor Badiuszaman Ahmad is representing the prosecution.
Razali is accused of making seditious remarks during a speech at Padang Astaka Chukai in Kemaman on November 10, 2023.
He allegedly questioned the disparity in treatment between Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who was granted a conditional discharge from 47 corruption charges, and Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, who was convicted of criminal breach of trust.

New Zealand woman injured after 6m fall at Kanching Waterfall
KUALA LUMPUR, June 28 — A 52-year-old New Zealand woman was injured after falling from a height of about six metres at Kanching Waterfall in Rawang today. Body of man believed to be victim of crocodile attack in Matang found
KUCHING, June 28 — The body believed to be that of Jacob Tuan, the victim of a recent crocodile attack, has been found by the search and rescue party this afternoon. Padawan District Police Chief Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi said the remains were located around 12.30pm following a search operation that began earlier in the day. 'We began the search at 8am, and by 12.30pm, we had located the body through the joint efforts of the various search team,' he said when met by reporters. The remains have been transported to the Sarawak General Hospital for identification and a post-mortem examination. The case has been classified as sudden death. 'The victim was found about 300 metres from the location of the attack. ‘We're staying': Five Malaysians in Iran decline evacuation, says foreign minister
KUALA LUMPUR, June 28 — Five Malaysians — four students and a trader — remain in Iran and have signed declarations opting out of evacuation efforts, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said today. According to Utusan Malaysia, the foreign minister said the individuals had expressed their gratitude to the Malaysian government and Wisma Putra, but chose to remain in the conflict-affected country. 'The four students decided not to return. They signed the declaration and thanked the Malaysian government and Wisma Putra,' he said after officiating the annual general meeting of the Penajes Women's Cooperative in Rembau today. 'They told us they have chosen to stay.' Mohamad said the evacuation of Malaysians from Iran was completed at midnight on June 21, involving 24 citizens and one Singaporean. 'There are not many Malaysians in Iran. In contrast, Qatar has over 5,000 Malaysians. 'Thankfully, since the US base in Qatar was bombed, there have been no further attacks. The airspace has reopened and Malaysians in Qatar are safe,' he added.
