Liverpool chief agreed transfer for Chelsea forward with private jet booked
Richard Hughes, Liverpool's sporting director, is a big fan of Nicolas Jackson, almost bringing the Senegal star to the Premier League well before his Chelsea move Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes came agonisingly close to signing Nicolas Jackson, only for the transfer to fall through at the last minute. The Premier League champions are on the hunt for a new striker this summer, with Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike near the top of their wish list. After already splashing out over £200million in the transfer window so far, the Reds are now ramping up their efforts to strengthen their forward line. Liverpool have yet to officially bid for Isak or approach Newcastle United, but there's a growing sense that he might be enticed by a fresh challenge at Anfield, reports the Liverpool Echo. If Liverpool fail to lure Isak from St. James' Park, they may consider making a move for Ekitike, with Newcastle already in discussions with Eintracht Frankfurt about the Frenchman. However, Isak and Ekitike aren't the only strikers linked with Liverpool. The Athletic reported this week that Viktor Gyokeres, who is close to joining Arsenal, and Victor Osimhen have also caught the club's eye. Current Chelsea striker Jackson has also been highlighted, a player admired by Reds sporting director Hughes from his time at Bournemouth. That doesn't necessarily mean Liverpool will pursue the Senegal international. However, with Chelsea having already signed João Pedro and Liam Delap this summer, Jackson's future at Stamford Bridge is far from certain, although the Blues have reportedly slapped a £100m price tag on him. Hughes' previous interest in Jackson was strong, so much so that he was on the verge of signing him for Bournemouth. Jackson was playing for Villarreal when the Cherries agreed a transfer fee of £20.3million in January 2023. The promising striker had appeared set to sign for Southampton, only for Hughes to intervene. The deal seemed all but done, with footage emerging of Jackson boarding a private jet to the UK to conclude discussions. However, a hamstring injury uncovered during his medical saw Bournemouth abort the transaction as they chose not to risk waiting for his return to full fitness amid their relegation battle. Once back on the pitch in March, Jackson didn't miss a beat, netting 10 goals in his final 11 matches of the term for Villarreal, a streak that caught Chelsea's eye, culminating in his £32million switch to the Blues in June 2023. Cherries owner Bill Foley has since conceded that not going through with the Jackson deal was a mistake. He said: "We tried to get him back this year, we had him last year and I believe we made a mistake. He didn't pass his medical but actually he played much sooner than we thought he would." Jackson has netted 30 goals in 81 appearances for Chelsea, contributing to their triumphs in the Club World Cup and Europa Conference League. However, following the arrivals of Pedro and Delap, his position at Chelsea looks precarious, potentially paving the way for a move.

Culture secretary urged by Lib Dems to act over ‘disgraceful treatment' of Crystal Palace
A group of Liberal Democrat MPs from south London has written to the culture secretary urging her to intervene over Crystal Palace's demotion from the Europa League, as the club's most influential supporters' group plans to take its protest to Uefa's headquarters in Switzerland. European football's governing body said last week the FA Cup winners had breached its multi-club ownership rules and would play in the Conference League. Palace are expected to appeal to the court of arbitration for sport, and hundreds of supporters marched to Selhurst Park on Tuesday night to voice anger at Uefa's decision. A letter was sent to Lisa Nandy on Wednesday by seven Lib Dem MPs including Bobby Dean, whose Carshalton and Wallington constituency contains many Palace supporters, and the leader, Sir Ed Davey, expressing deep concern over Palace's 'disgraceful treatment'. It requested that the secretary of state for culture, media and sport ensure 'the decision-making process is reviewed for transparency and fairness' and 'the club is given a fair opportunity to appeal or respond to any allegations'. The letter says: 'As you may be aware, other clubs seem to go through much more protracted disputes with less severe outcomes. Many believe that this process has been opaque and disproportionately punitive. We hope you will take this matter seriously and act to uphold the principles of fairness, accountability, and integrity in sport.' Dean told the Guardian: 'This is heartbreaking for fans. In what should be an unblemished year of celebration for the club, officials totally disconnected from the side's success on the pitch have issued a highly unusual and severe punishment that raises serious questions about fairness in the governance of English football. We are urging the government to back our appeal to Uefa for a thorough review of this decision. Fans must be at the centre of the game, not treated as an afterthought.' Clubs with the same owner are barred from competing in the same Uefa competition if an individual or ownership group is considered to have a decisive influence over more than one of those teams. Uefa deemed that a move by Palace's biggest shareholder, John Textor, whose company Eagle Football Holdings also owns Lyon, who have also qualified for the Europa League, to sell his stake to the New York Jets owner, Woody Johnson, had come too late despite completion of the deal being imminent. Tuesday's march was led by the Holmesdale Fanatics, who took aim at Uefa with a banner that described it as 'morally bankrupt'. They have promised to organise another protest at Uefa's headquarters in Nyon in the coming days. 'We want to go there and put enough pressure on them and make it enough of the public issue that we can affect the decision,' said Mickey Grafton. 'In short, the next step is to go to Switzerland. We need to get a delegation out there. We won't say what we've got planned now.' EA FC 26 trailer countdown – when will the reveal trailer go live and what to expect
A countdown to when EA Sports' EA FC 26 reveal trailer will finally go live and give players a first look at the new game. It's almost time to take our first look at EA FC 26, with the EA FC 26 reveal trailer dropping very soon. After weeks of constant EA FC 26 leaks, we are finally starting to gather information about the new game from an official source, with EA Sports beginning to make its first EA FC 26 announcements over the last few days. From the EA FC 26 Ultimate Edition cover star being revealed to confirmation of the EA FC 26 Ultimate Edition pre-order bonuses, everything EA FC 26-related is starting to drop, and soon, we're set to get a first official look at the new game thanks to the EA FC 26 reveal trailer. In EA FC 25, EA 's reveal trailer was slated heavily by the Ultimate Team community, with little to no actual gameplay being shown. But, in a recent teaser for the EA FC 26 trailer posted to the @EASPORTSFC Twitter account, EA has seemingly picked up on the feedback, almost ridiculing itself for last year's trailer and giving players hope that the EA FC 26 reveal trailer will feature a lot more gameplay. But, when does the EA FC 26 reveal trailer go live? Here's a live EA FC 26 trailer countdown, as well as what we expect to see. EA FC 26 reveal trailer start time The EA FC 26 reveal trailer will go live on the EA Sports FC YouTube on Wednesday, July 16 at 8:57 am PDT / 11:57am EDT/ 4:57pm BST. We will be reacting to the trailer live on the All Out Gaming YouTube from 8:40 am PDT / 11:40am EDT/ 4:40pm BST, where you can get a detailed breakdown of what was shown in the trailer. So, when the trailer is released, what can we expect to see? Firstly, even though EA has hinted towards more actual gameplay being shown, expect a lot of dramatic, cinematic shots of players, stadiums, managers and more. With Zlatan Ibrahimovic the Ultimate Edition cover star, the Swede should be involved in the trailer, as should Cole Palmer, with the Englishman involved in the teaser trailer. Jude Bellingham and Jamal Musiala are expected to be involved with the duo leaked to feature on the EA FC 26 standard edition cover, and we may also get some shots of Bayern Munich's stadium, the Allianz Arena, with the stadium set to return in EA FC 26. Players from partner clubs like Real Madrid, Liverpool, Tottenham, and Juventus should also feature, while we should see some new FUT Icons included as well. EA will release detailed deep dives ahead of EA FC 26's release for gameplay, Ultimate Team, Career Mode and more, so gameplay-wise, we don't expect a detailed breakdown of new additions and features, but hopefully, we get a few glimpses of what we can expect in EA FC 26.
