900 Hours, 180 Buttons And A Space Trip: All About Lauren Sanchez's Wedding Dress
Last Updated:
Lauren Sánchez said the space experience changed her in many ways, including how she wanted to look on her big day
Lauren Sánchez, a former TV anchor and pilot, married Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in a ceremony on the Italian island of San Giorgio Maggiore.
But what caught everyone's attention—beyond the guest list and scenic location—was her wedding dress, which was inspired by her recent trip to space.
In April, Sánchez flew to the edge of space aboard Blue Origin's spaceflight—a company founded by Bezos himself. She said the experience changed her in many ways, including how she wanted to look on her big day, reported Vogue Magazine.

Her bridal gown, designed by luxury fashion house Dolce & Gabbana, was a high-neck lace dress with long sleeves and a fitted mermaid-style silhouette.
The design was influenced by a 1950s look worn by actress Sophia Loren in the film Houseboat. The dress reportedly took over 900 hours to make and featured 180 buttons.
Sánchez said that before the space flight, she imagined wearing a modern, strapless dress. But after returning from space, she wanted something that 'tells a story" and reflects who she is now.
'I came back from space and felt different," she said. 'I knew I wanted something that felt timeless and meaningful."
As part of her outfit, she also included a special keepsake from her space trip as her 'something blue" — a wedding tradition where brides wear something blue for good luck.
The wedding was attended by close friends and family, including well-known names from the world of business, politics, and entertainment.
The guest list included Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates, and musician John Mayer, who performed at the ceremony.
The couple has been together since 2019 and got engaged last year. Their wedding comes nearly a year after Bezos proposed aboard his $500 million yacht.
Lauren Sánchez's space flight may have lasted just 11 minutes, but its impact clearly stayed with her, right down to her wedding dress.

For one bloody moment, why can't we just be happy for her and wish her an eternity of joy and send her well wishes? You truly look so beautiful and blessed. I hope you're having the loveliest time. Congratulations, Mrs. Bezos.'
