'Israel' threatens Syria with more strikes
Deadly clashes have been taking place between Bedouins and Druze fighters in Suwayda since Sunday, with the Syrian Defense Minister announcing a 'ceasefire' yesterday after an agreement with the 'city's dignitaries'.
'The Syrian regime must leave the Druze in Sweida alone and withdraw its forces. As we have made clear and warned, Israel will not abandon the Druze in Syria and will enforce the demilitarization policy we have decided on,' Katz said.
'The IDF will continue to strike regime forces until they withdraw from the area, and will soon escalate its response against the regime if the message is not understood,' he added.

VIDEO: Abu Obaida issues first statement in over four months
Abu Obaida, spokesperson for Al-Qassam Brigades, appeared in a newly released video on Friday, marking his first public statement since March 6, 2025. In the video, he said four months had passed since the 'Israeli' military resumed its aggression on Gaza, accusing 'Israel' of betraying the terms of a previously agreed deal with the resistance. He said that 'Israel' violated the truce and overturned commitments made during negotiations, leading to a renewed escalation in the aggression, in reference to "Israel's" surprise attack on Gaza in March during a declared ceasefire between the two parties. Abu Obaida said Al-Qassam fighters have killed or wounded hundreds of 'Israeli' soldiers in recent months, while thousands more have reportedly suffered psychological trauma and shock. He added that the resistance has introduced new tactics and methods, drawing lessons from what he described as the longest war in the history of the Palestinian people. He revealed that fighters have attempted several operations in recent weeks aimed at capturing 'Israeli' soldiers. Capturing soldiers has been a long-standing goal for the group, often used to negotiate prisoner exchanges. Abu Obaida described Gaza's armed resistance as 'the greatest military school for a people resisting occupation in modern history,' affirming that they remain fully prepared to continue a prolonged war of attrition against the occupation, regardless of the form or strategy of future assaults. He said the current strategy of Al-Qassam's leadership is to inflict maximum losses on 'Israeli' forces, carry out high-impact operations, and pursue the capture of soldiers. In a regional message, he strongly criticized Arab leaders for their silence, saying: 'The enemy would not have committed genocide in full view of the nation's leaders unless it was assured of impunity, guaranteed silence, and bought betrayal.' He stressed that no one was exempt from the responsibility of the bloodshed: 'We do not absolve anyone. Everyone who can act, according to their ability and influence, must do so.' He also praised Yemen's Ansar Allah (Houthis), calling them 'truthful brothers' who forced the enemy to face a new front and 'exposed the cowardice of those who remain passive.' Abu Obaida extended his thanks to 'all the free people around the world' who have shown solidarity and attempted to break the siege on Gaza despite risks. He reiterated support for the Palestinian negotiating delegation in indirect talks with 'Israel,' stating that Hamas had offered a comprehensive deal to release all enemy captives at once. 'War criminal Netanyahu and his ministers rejected our offer. It became clear they are not interested in the fate of their soldiers,' he said, accusing the 'Israeli' leadership of preparing the public for the possibility that all prisoners might be dead. He concluded by expressing hope that the ongoing negotiations would lead to a deal ensuring an end to what he called a 'genocidal war,' the withdrawal of occupying forces, and urgent humanitarian relief for Gaza.

Israeli Druze storm border to aid Syrian kin — IDF steps in
Published July 18th, 2025 - 05:04 GMT ALBAWABA - On Friday, a new group of Israeli Druze tried to cross the border into Syria to help their family members as the violence in the Suwayda region got worse. The group was stopped by Israeli Border Police, who also increased security along the border. Channel 14 in Israel says that the Israeli military has been working hard to keep people from getting into places in the Golan Heights that it controls without permission. Even though there was an announcement of a truce, things are still tense on the border, and fears of new fighting are growing. The Israeli military admitted earlier that it wasn't ready for the latest waves of invasion. Among these were the crossings of about 1,000 Druze from Israel into Syria and smaller groups coming into Israel from Syria. A lot of people who came back were caught with guns, which shows how bad the security situation is. Israeli media also said that the army has been helping Druze villages in Syria with logistics. This includes parachuting goods from the sky during activities at night, which is why Israeli planes are often seen after dark. Even though there is a ceasefire, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) are said to be sending medical supplies to the Druze in northern Golan and sending troops to the area to protect the land. Israel sends $600,000 in aid to Syria's Druze while Gaza starves. As Palestinian children waste away under siege and bombs, Israel finds compassion across the border but none for the millions it traps and targets in Gaza — TRT World (@trtworld) July 18, 2025 The IDF said they didn't do any airstrikes overnight in Syria, but they did say they had done air support operations in Suwayda in the past, which are said to have forced the Syrian government to pull its troops back. As a warning to Damascus, Israeli fighter jets are said to have attacked armored units and key military sites in the city, such as the presidential house, the Ministry of Defense, and the offices of the Syrian General Staff. Both overt and hidden Israeli participation has caused a lot of debate, with some saying it breaks the terms of the truce. Still, Israel keeps saying that what it does is to protect Druze villages that are in danger across the border. © 2000 - 2025 Al Bawaba (

'Israeli' military bans face coverings across West Bank
The commander of the 'Israeli' army's Central Command, Avi Bluth, has issued a new military order banning the wearing of face coverings (such as masks or scarves) across the occupied West Bank, applying to both Palestinians and settlers. According to the order, anyone covering their face could face up to six months in prison. The sentence increases to two years if the covering is worn while committing a crime or offense. The ban excludes religious face coverings and those worn by 'Israeli' forces during military operations in the West Bank. The 'Israeli' army described the decision as part of its efforts to combat what it termed 'nationalist-motivated crimes and Jewish terrorism.'
