QRCS launches phase 2 of 'Road to Stability' initiative in Lebanon
BEIRUT: With funding from Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) and Lebanon's Ministry of Social Affairs have launched phase 2 of the 'Road to Stability', an initiative aimed at supporting the poorest Lebanese families affected by the recent war on Lebanon.
The overall purpose of the project is to enhance the financial stability of the most vulnerable Lebanese and Syrian families in Lebanon.
Earlier, phase 1 had been completed for the benefit of Syrian refugee families in Lebanon, in collaboration with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
This newly launched phase, which focuses on the affected Lebanese families, is funded by QFFD and implemented in partnership with Lebanon's Ministry of Social Affairs.
Based on regular assessments and surveys conducted by the ministry to identify the most affected people, 3,325 Lebanese families were selected to receive monthly cash aid for three months.
It is another episode of the constructive collaboration between QRCS and Lebanon's Ministry of Social Affairs as part of the country's social safety net programs, designed to empower the families most in need and enhance their resilience.
During the ceremony, the participants expressed their hope that this cooperation would serve as an effective model for unified humanitarian efforts, thanks to the generous support from QFFD and close coordination among Lebanon's Ministry of Social Affairs, QRCS, and other humanitarian partners in Lebanon.
In his keynote speech on behalf of QFFD, Qatar's Ambassador to Lebanon HE Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said, "This project comes at a time when Lebanon is experiencing critical circumstances, which entails lending a hand for the country to come through the recent crises and wars. The project's name indicates the importance of stability sought by all the Lebanese people, as well as Qatar's keenness to preserve it with unlimited support, for Lebanon to further pursue progress and recovery."
Lebanon's Minister of Social Affairs HE Hanin Al Sayed, stated, "I would like to express my deep appreciation to QRCS, which has always been committed to professional and dignity-respecting humanitarianism. We owe a debt of gratitude to QFFD and the government and people of Qatar for this significant contribution, which is a testimony to the humanitarian, social, economic, and developmental ties between our two nations."
Assistant Secretary-General for Communication and Fundraising at QRCS, Mohamed Ahmed Al Beshri, commented, "This project is not just a technical intervention or financial support. It is a true manifestation of our humanitarian and fraternal responsibility towards the families who suffer from harsh living conditions. Human dignity is indivisible. Standing up for the most vulnerable people is a moral duty underlying our institutional endeavors. We at QRCS believe that sustainable partnerships built on mutual trust are the solid foundation for any successful humanitarian intervention. We are proud of our strong partnership with Lebanon's Ministry of Social Affairs and highly value the substantial and continuous contributions by QFFD, our strategic and permanent partner in the humanitarian journey."

Syria plans to build new airports with modern technology
Damascus: The head of Syria's General Civil Aviation Authority, Ashhad Salibi, announced that the Syrian government is planning to build new airports and equip them with advanced technology. In an interview with Syrian state TV, Salibi said serious studies are under way to construct a new airport in Damascus and another one in Aleppo, noting that the current Aleppo airport cannot be expanded due to engineering limitations. Amir, Lebanese PM discuss ways to promote ties
QNA Doha His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met with Prime Minister of the sisterly Lebanese Republic HE Dr Nawaf Salam, and his accompanying delegation, on the occasion of his visit to the country, at his office at the Amiri Diwan on Tuesday. At the beginning of the meeting, the Lebanese Prime Minister expressed his country's solidarity with the State of Qatar and its strong condemnation of the Iranian attack on Al-Udeid Air Base, which constitutes a flagrant violation of Qatar's sovereignty and airspace, as well as of international law and the United Nations Charter. He stressed Lebanon's absolute rejection of any aggression that threatens the security and safety of the State of Qatar and undermines the security and stability of the region. He also expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to HH the Amir and the government and people of the State of Qatar for their supportive stances towards Lebanon and their assistance during the current phase the region is going through. HH the Amir expressed his gratitude to the Lebanese Prime Minister for his expression of solidarity and friendly feelings towards the State of Qatar and its people, affirming Qatar's continued support for the Lebanese Republic and its brotherly people towards achieving peace, development and prosperity. During the meeting, bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to support and develop them were reviewed. A number of issues of common interest, both regionally and internationally, were also addressed.

PM, Lebanese counterpart discuss ways to resolve disputes through dialogue, promote regional security
QNA Doha Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani met with Prime Minister of Lebanon HE Dr Nawaf Salam in Doha on Tuesday. During the meeting, they discussed relations between the two countries and ways to support and enhance them, especially in fields of energy, transportation and culture, as well as the reconstruction of southern Lebanon, and support for the army. They also discussed the latest developments in the country and ways to resolve disputes through dialogue and diplomatic means to consolidate security and stability regionally and internationally. The Lebanese prime minister reiterated his country's strong condemnation of the Iranian missile attack on Qatar's Al-Udeid Air Base, which constitutes a flagrant violation of Qatar's sovereignty and airspace, as well as of international law and the United Nations Charter. He also stressed the necessity of de-escalation in the region in order to achieve regional and international security.
