Leanne Crichton 'in line' for Rangers women's manager job as she gets set to go solo for first time
Leanne Crichton is reportedly set to land the job as Rangers women 's head coach.
The 37-year-old former Scotland international is currently assistant manager at Glasgow City.
But Crichton has been lined up by the Ibrox club to succeed ex England midfielder Jo Potter who departed to join Crystal Palace after two years in Glasgow.
Rangers have missed out on the SWPL title on the final day for the last three years and are on the lookout for a boss to get them over the line.
And despite never having been a manager in her own right, PLZ report that Crichton is the top choice.
But Crichton had a top level playing career, featuring for Scotland at the 2017 European Championships and the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup.
Crichton, also a respected pundit, had three spells at Glasgow City as a player, and returned to the club to assist Leanne Ross last year.
Rangers defeated Middlesbrough 6-0 in a friendly on Sunday with assistant head coach Craig McPherson taking the team and they fly out to Italy for a training camp, having lost six first team players this summer.

That is widely thought to have been from Athens where AEK had been very keen to take him to Greece. But after Martin talked Dessers up as the shining example to other players who haven't shown the same commitment to the cause, it now appears AEK are looking elsewhere. Marca report they are closing in on a free transfer for Jovic, who left AC Milan earlier this summer. The 27-year-old was once a £60m signing for Real Madrid after impressing with Eintracht Frankfurt but recent years haven't gone to plan – he struggled for minutes last season and scored just four goals. Now AEK appear to have won the race which would effectively close the door on a move for Dessers. On the Nigerian, boss Martin said over the weekend: "I said to some of the guys in there, Cyriel is the only one we have actually had a bid for and interest in. Meanwhile Viktoria Plzen will be without key midfielder Pavel Sulc for their clash with Rangers as he gets set to seal a move to Lyon. But he's set to seal a £7.5m move to Lyon and Plzen have confirmed he hasn't travelled to Glasgow.
