Defending Wimbledon champion bursts into tears mid-match before third-round exit
Krejcikova's season has been marred by a back injury and, having won the first set 6-2 and gone a break up, she was clearly in considerable pain in ultimately losing the second set 6-3 before taking a medical time-out during the decisive third set. She also added an extra-long sleeve layer on top of her usual kit in an attempt to curtail the obvious physical discomfort.
After going a break down and needing to hold serve to stay in the match at 3-5 down in the third set, Krejcikova first crouched down and then turned to the back of the court before beginning to cry. Putting her hand to her face, the 17th-seeded Czech then sunk her head into the green surroundings at the back of No 1 Court and was clearly in considerable distress.
'Tough to watch,' said commentator Martina Navratilova, the nine-times singles champion.

Krejcikova did compose herself after a delay of around a minute to hold serve, even while wiping away tears during that game, before Navarro, of the United States, served out to win the deciding set 6-4.
The 29-year-old Krejcikova, who also won the French Open in 2021, then left the court to a huge standing ovation, including from Navarro. 'It was really tough today – I know she was dealing with some injuries,' said Navarro. 'She's an amazing player – injuries, no injuries. You can trick yourself into taking too much of the ball and not playing the game. It wasn't an easy challenge.
'I have to remind myself how special this opportunity is at the most prestigious tournament in the world. It's awesome to be here – I'm just so grateful.'

Women's Euro 2025 live: England ‘not good enough' as Lionesses react to France defeat
Holders England suffered a chastening start to their Euro 2025 campaign as France won 2-1 in Zurich to take charge of Group D along with the Netherlands. England could now find themselves out of the Euros on Wednesday if they lose to the Netherlands and France beat tournament debutants Wales, who lost 3-0 to the Dutch earlier in the day in the other match in Group D. Captain Leah Williamson said the Lionesses need to take 'responsibility' for their performance. "We lost the game with poor defending one-on-one,' Williamson said 'Not good enough with the ball, we weren't good enough.' England manager Sarina Wiegman also said that her team created their own problems in the defeat. 'Of course, I'm very disappointed,' said Wiegman. 'I think we started well. After that we created chances (for France) by playing short passes all the time. We were a bit sloppy too.' Leah Williamson: 'England were not good enough' Leah Williamson gave an honest assessment of England's performance as the Lionesses captain spoke to ITV after the 2-1 defeat to France. "We lost the game poor defending one v one. We learnt from those mistakes in fairness. Not good enough with the ball, we weren't good enough. We got better and took advantage of that but not enough in the end. "Sometimes it happens. The positive is I've not seen us like in terms of turning over the ball so much for a while now. Tomorrow, back on it and there were some really good stuff towards the end. "When you lose it and you're that expansive, it is tough. We hold ourselves to higher standards in our individual battles. "Everyone [needs to] take responsibly for themselves and have a look. Tomorrow we have new gameplan. Different places available and different opposition." In what was always going to be a tough opening game, The Lionesses thought they had made the perfect start to their title defence but Alessia Russo's 16th-minute rebound was disallowed by VAR after Beth Mead was marginally offside in the build-up. And England were then stunned by France's quickfire double before half time, with Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Sandy Baltimore scoring two goals in four minutes to leave England with a mountain to climb. Sarina Wiegman appeared to be furious at France's second, after England appealed for a foul on Russo in the build-up, but the goal survived a VAR review after Baltimore beat Lucy Bronze in the box to fire into the top corner. Despite failing to threaten France for much of the second half, Keira Walsh pulled one back in the 86th minute to give England some hope. Substitute Michelle Agyemeng came closest to finding an equaliser, but her shot was blocked as France survived a late scare. Iga Swiatek admits she could get Wimbledon ban after leaving fans disgusted
Five-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek is into the fourth round at Wimbledon after beating Danielle Collins, but it was her post-match interview that got people talking Iga Swiatek has admitted that her favourite meal risks upsetting her hosts at Wimbledon. The Polish star reached the fourth round at the Grand Slam by defeating Danielle Collins on Saturday – but it was her choice of food that raised eyebrows. Swiatek, a five-time Grand Slam champion, beat Collins 6-2, 6-3 in one hour and 15 minutes. She will play Clara Tauson in the next round at the All England Lawn Tennis Club after her dominant victory. And, speaking to the Centre Court crowd afterwards, she revealed a bizarre meal that has been fuelling her performances. Asked what she might eat to recover from the match, she told interviewer Annabel Croft: 'I don't know yet. For sure, not fish and chips, because it's too heavy. "But my team has been eating every day like a cheat meal, you know? And I'm just looking at them like 'guys, that's not helpful'. 'But I have my favourite actually. I ate it as a kid. It is pasta with strawberries.' After hearing the negative reaction from the spectators, she added: 'You should try it guys. Pasta with strawberries and a little bit of yoghurt. It is just great.' It clearly has been working for Swiatek, who has won four French Open titles and the US Open and is trying to beat her best run at Wimbledon, when she reached the quarter finals in 2023. But her different take on Wimbledon's iconic strawberries and cream sparked a huge reaction – and she joked it could cause a ban. She was asked about the revelation in her post-match press conference. 'Why is it such a big thing? Everybody should eat that,' she said. 'I think (it's a Polish dish). I think in summer kids are eating it a lot. I don't know. It's just a perfect mix of tastes, so… We have great strawberries in Poland, as well.' HAVE YOUR SAY! Would you try strawberry pasta? Comment below. Asked which country had better strawberries, Swiatek replied: 'Honestly, I think Poland. Because we have [a] better climate for strawberries, right? Now Wimbledon is probably going to ban me from answering these questions.' 'No, the strawberries are great here, as well,' she quickly added. 'They are different. But they are great, as well. My dad adds cream. He adds that and some sugar. I try to eat with yogurt to at least pretend that it's a good meal. Pasta fits everything. But strawberries are the best one, I would say.' Doubling down on her opinion, Swiatek later uploaded a photo of the controversial meal, showing conchiglie pasta with cut up strawberries and yoghurt. 'Come in guyssss, this is a Polish speciality,' she said in the caption before conducting a poll to see whether her fans would try the dish.
