Saga to launch new over-50s savings products under tie-up with NatWest

Saga has unveiled a seven-year tie-up with banking giant NatWest to launch a range of savings products for the over-50s.
Saga, which offers cruises through to insurance services for people over 50, said an instant access savings product would be the first to launch under the partnership later this year, with further savings offerings and other financial products also to be introduced.
Saga will team up with NatWest Boxed – NatWest's banking-as-a-service business.
'This collaboration will enable Saga to offer easy-to-use products and services, drive increased volume and improved commercial terms, and deliver accessible and reliable customer service,' Saga said.
The savings product will replace Saga's current instant access offering provided by Goldman Sachs for new customers.
Saga said there will be no change for customers who already hold a Saga instant access account, and the Goldman Sachs contract will not end until September 2028.
Jerry Toher, chief executive of Saga Money, said: 'As the UK's specialist in providing products for people over 50, this launch is an exciting next step in enhancing our money offer.
'This will further strengthen our position in providing competitive and flexible savings products, ensuring that Saga remains the most trusted brand for people over 50 in the UK.'
Andrew Ellis, chief executive of NatWest Boxed, added: 'Trusted brands are well positioned to reward customers for their loyalty, while keeping their best interests at heart.
'This partnership is a testament to how leading firms, like Saga, can deploy new technology like embedded finance to offer specialised products and services.'
London-listed Saga struck a 20-year partnership for motor and home insurance with Belgian firm Ageas late last year, while also agreeing to sell its underwriting business Acromas to the group, which will complete at the end of the month.

"With the advent of AI, I think it would actually be very easy to build out a large-scale automated attack," he told the BBC's Today programme. "Basically, focusing on crafting messages that look appealing to those gamblers."Tim Rawlins, director and senior adviser at global security firm the NCC Group, told the BBC's Wake Up to Money programme that customers should look out for detailed emails that might refer to their previous betting habits, encourage them to click links or give away credit card information."You might re-enter your credit card number, you might re-enter your bank account details, those are the sort of things people need to be on the look out for and be conscious of that sort of threat," he added: "If it's too good to be true, it probably is a fraudster who's coming after your money."Mr Rawlins said his security firm has seen an increase in the quality of phishing emails and said AI is making it harder to tell a fraudulent email from a real message.

New Marella cruise calculator aims to show value of its sailings – how much could you save?

A new tool launched by Marella Cruises claims to show passengers that they could save hundreds of pounds by sailing with the Tui-backed brand compared with other cruise lines. The cruise brand claims that its deals can work out cheaper as typical extras such as flights, transfers, tips and drinks are included in the fare. The All Inclusive Cruise Calculator is free to use on the Tui website. Potential passengers are first asked to choose between visiting the Caribbean, the Mediterranean or the Canary Islands and are then given a choice between seven and 14 nights and the month they want to travel. Flights, transfers and meals can be added later. Passengers then enter how much they plan to drink each day, before selecting additional entertainment options such as swimming pools, shows, kids' clubs, cinemas and rock climbing walls. The tool uses Cruise Market Watch data to compare its own fares against the 2024 global average ticket price of $171.09 (£127) per passenger per day and an average gratuity of $18 (£13) passenger per day. Data from Google Flights is used for airline comparisons, while drink prices are taken from publicly available menus offered by Royal Caribbean and P&O Cruises as of 31 October 2024. For example, the calculator suggests a Mediterranean cruise with Marella in November 2025, including flights and transfers, tips, all meals, two beers, cocktails, hot drinks and soft drinks per day would cost £777 per person compared with £1,601 per person on average across other lines – a saving of £824 per person. There are some other factors to consider though. Some of the selling points in the calculator such as meals and on-board entertainment are included by most cruise lines. Other brands such as MSC Cruises and Princess may also include tips in their fares. It is also important to compare deals either directly or through websites such as Seascanner and My Kind Of Cruise. Prices can change and special offers, such as free flights and drinks packages, are offered regularly. Chris Hackney, managing director at Marella Cruises, said: 'The new All Inclusive Cruise Calculator allows customers to see the value for money we provide to our customers. 'With all-inclusive at the heart of our cruise holidays, we provide an exceptional end-to-end service which includes flights, transfers, tips and accommodation rolled into one price. As well as entertainment, food and drink offerings and fantastic service. Guernsey official tourism body has won second place at the international Travel Marketing Awards for its Liberation 80 Guernsey said it was proud to put the island "on the global map" after it was shortlisted for the Best Use of Content marketing company said its Liberation 80: Keeping Our War Stories Alive focused on Guernsey's wartime history, which involved historians, local experts and "well-known" content campaign reached more than 3.3 million people via social media and generated more than £5m in media value, bosses said. It added it was the only team out of 163 entries to receive a "highly commended" recognition from the judges at the event in London. Lead marketing officer Zoe Gosling said team members were proud of their said: "To make the shortlist and be in the room with the best in the business was a triumph. "We were the only team on the night to be awarded a highly commended - a clear nod from industry leaders that this work made an impact."
