And as he arrived for Inter Miami's massive clash with Paris Saint-Germain in Atlanta, Becks smiled and gave a thumbs-up.
His Miami side are taking on the Champions League winners in the last 16 of the Club World Cup.
The former Three Lions skipper, 50, looked relaxed and comfortable in a sturdy blue sling matching his suit.
And the protective wear certainly looked more secure than his team's defence in the early stages - as Joao Neves headed PSG in front after just seven minutes.
Beckham finishing his playing career with a short spell at PSG in 2013.
And it was way back in 2003 that the hero, who went on to win 115 caps in all, suffered an agonising injury in a Three Lions' friendly away to South Africa.
Beckham eventually continued playing.

He said: "I have decided to transfer overseas. As a result, I will be leaving the club. First of all, I am sorry for making this decision when the team is in a difficult situation. "I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the supporters for the love they have shown me over the past two years. "When I heard my name being chanted at the opening game of this season, I felt a great sense of responsibility and awareness. "I wanted to make this team win, and I wanted to make all the supporters smile every week. This feeling was my driving force. "The atmosphere at the club is one of a big family. That is why I wanted to convey my passion for football and my feelings for the team on the pitch at this welcoming club. "However, I came to the conclusion that it would be best to challenge myself overseas at this time. "I know that not everyone will be happy to see me off, but I will fight tooth and nail so that one day you will all think that this decision was the right one and feel proud of me. "I would like to thank everyone involved with Albirex Niigata for the support that allowed me to grow here. It is thanks to all of you that I was able to build the foundation as a professional football player. "I will take all the experiences I have gained in Niigata to heart and head towards new challenges. The diggers move in as Celtic Park pitch is dug up "I will do my best to make everyone proud. It was a short time of about two years, but thank you so much!" The centre-back would be the Hoops' fourth signing of the window following the arrival of Kieran Tierney, Ross Doohan, and Benjamin Nygren. If you've ever been in Cardiff's city centre while bands ready for their shows, you'll know it's a real treat to overhear. However, while some acts keep their soundcheck under wraps it seems that the Gallaghers' will take the opportunity to get their performance pitch perfect. ‌ Oasis will play Cardiff's Principality Stadium on July 4 and 5 and will also call at Manchester's Heaton Park, Wembley Stadium and Murrayfield in Edinburgh. From superstar gigs to cosy pubs, find out What's On in Wales by signing up to our newsletter here ‌ Set up at the Principality is already well underway, as seen in a seven-days-to-go video released last week, and a soundcheck will be later in the week. The Mirror has reported that Liam and Noel, plus new drummer Joey Waronker and guitarists Andy Bell, Gem Archer and Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs, will take the opportunity to make sure their performance is tip top ahead of Friday and Saturday. A source close to the band told the Mirror: "With a new line up and it being such a huge first show, the boys will do some songs inside the venue too. "Some tours would start with a smaller show or take a week or two to get into the groove again but there is no time for that and also Liam and Noel want every night to be massive. Article continues below "This is such a huge comeback show and they are taking it very seriously. It all points to it being an incredible comeback tour." Last week Noel gave an update on the preparations for the band's reunion tour in a cheeky call into talkSPORT's Jamie O'Hara and Jason Cundy phone in show on Friday (June 26). Noel told the two presenters when they asked how preparations are going: "Yeah, we finished rehearsing Tuesday, we've a few days off now but it's sounding huge." He added: "This is it, there's no going back now," and reassured fans by saying: "It's good."
