According to officials, the exercise, conducted under the command of the Trivandrum Brigade, took place at a high-security, undisclosed location in the Bengaluru region, maintaining strict confidentiality in line with security protocols. 'This marks the first time both forces have trained together under a unified operational umbrella. The drill was conducted as part of the Mutual Aid Scheme under the Garrison Commander of the Banaswadi Military Garrison and involved key stakeholders, including the State Police, Traffic Police, City SWAT, Bomb Disposal Team, Fire and Emergency Services and the District Medical Health Team,' the Defence PRO said in a statement.
The objective was to synchronise, harmonise and synergise the multi-agency response to terror threats, particularly in complex urban scenarios, it said. According to the statement, the exercise demonstrated a high level of coordination and mutual trust among the participating units.
The integration of civil and military assets into a single, coherent response mechanism reflects a matured and proactive security doctrine, it said. Commenting on the exercise, a senior official remarked, 'It is heartening to witness such unity of purpose and seamless coordination between the armed forces and civil agencies in the fight against terrorism. Today's exercise reaffirms our collective readiness to respond swiftly and effectively to any threat to public safety.'

Vijayawada: Chief secretary K Vijayanand, in a video conference on Thursday instructed district collectors and department secretaries to complete district and constituency vision action plan meetings by July 6. He directed them to launch vision chapters immediately. The Chief Minister will review the P-4 initiative on Friday evening and meet with collectors, public representatives, and others on July 23 to assess progress. Vijayanand noted that training and awareness programmes for P-4 and Swarnadhra Pradesh 2047 are complete. He urged collectors to implement detailed action plans and take necessary steps. He emphasised the importance of Anna canteens, which provide affordable breakfast and lunch to the poor. Collectors must ensure these canteens maintain high food quality, open daily at 7 am, and keep surroundings clean. He ordered the installation of CCTV cameras for continuous monitoring. The chief secretary appointed collectors as special officers for municipal corporations, tasking them with overseeing daily garbage collection and drain cleaning. He called for regular surprise inspections to ensure compliance. Additionally, he instructed collectors to collaborate with district SPs to address crimes against women, review preventive measures at mandal and police station levels, and jointly tackle ganja and drug use. With the southwest monsoon bringing potential cyclones and floods, Vijayanand directed collectors to prepare comprehensive action plans to handle emergencies. He stressed readiness among relevant departments to respond effectively. Vijayanand also pushed for the rapid implementation of the PM Suryagarh Mafat Bijli Yojana, aimed at making Andhra Pradesh a leader in clean energy. He urged collectors to promote the initiative widely to boost renewable energy capacity. The video conference included principal secretary of planning and finance Piyush Kumar, director I&PR Himanshu Shukla and other officials and district collectors.

Notorious goon, accused in murder case, arrested from Betul
Bhopal: The main accused in the Liladhar Colony murder case, Naseem alias Banne Khan, who allegedly shot and killed a youth during a violent altercation, was arrested by Chhola police from Betul district. The incident occurred past midnight on June 30. According to police, Naseem was brought back to Bhopal from Betul, during which he attempted to escape police custody three times. While being taken to his residence as part of the investigation, he even jumped from a roof in a bid to flee, resulting in a fractured leg. Despite the injury, he was produced before the court and was remanded to three-day police custody for further interrogation. Past midnight on June 30, Naseem, along with his accomplices Wasim and three others, arrived in Liladhar Colony on two motorcycles. A confrontation broke out between the group and Raja Khatik and his associates. During the altercation, Naseem opened fire using a country-made pistol. Of the three rounds fired, one misfired, while two bullets struck the deceased Amit Verma, 22, who later died from the gunshot wounds. The police investigation revealed that Naseem, Wasim, and Raja Khatik previously worked together in robbery cases. Tensions escalated after a dispute over the division of loot money between Raja and Nadeem, Wasim's brother. Following a physical assault on Nadeem by Raja, Naseem and his gang reportedly decided to take revenge by targeting Raja. However, during the shootout, Amit Verma was fatally shot. Before the murder, the accused were also reportedly seen brandishing swords and arguing with pedestrians on VIP Road. Bhopal Police Commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra announced a reward of Rs 30,000 for information leading to Naseem's arrest. Teams from Crime Branch and Zone-4 were deployed in search of the accused, ultimately resulting in his capture from Betul.

Police baton charge BPSC aspirants in Patna as protests over domicile policy intensify
PATNA: Police resorted to baton charge to disperse a mob of Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) applicants in the state capital on Wednesday, who were demanding implementation of the state domicile policy in state government jobs. Police also detained six protestors, including two women, who were released later in the evening after furnishing personal bonds. The protestors were demanding implementation of the domicile policy in the teachers' recruitment examination (TRE-4) conducted by BPSC. The situation took an ugly turn after protestors attempted to break the police cordon near Dak Bungalow intersection and proceed towards the Chief Minister's residence at 1 Anne Marg. Security personnel prevented them from proceeding towards the prohibited area. A minor scuffle between protestors and security personnel ensued as BPSC applicants were not in a mood to relent. Defying police action, protestors shouted anti-government slogans and demanded a ban on the entry of outsiders in examinations. As police used mild force, protestors dispersed from the spot. However, six of them were taken into custody and detained at Kotwali police station. They were released after furnishing personal bonds. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Patna, Kartikeya Kumar Sharma said that police had made adequate bandobast (arrangements) in view of the protest march organised by BPSC applicants. He said the protest march passed off peacefully.
