The city must submit arguments for legal costs to the court by September.

THE CANADIAN PRESS/Darryl Dyck Police are investigating after three people were shot at while in a car in Surrey, B.C., in an incident believed to be driven by road rage. According to a release by the Surrey Police Service, four people were travelling in a car eastbound on 84 Avenue, near 140 Street in Newton, at around 1 a.m. Tuesday when the incident unfolded. Three people in a white Tesla with an unknown Ontario license plate pulled alongside their car and fired shots at them, police said. The suspects fled the area. Three of the four men were treated by paramedics for non-life-threatening injuries related to gunshot wounds before being transferred to hospital in a stable condition. 'The motive for the shooting is still under investigation however, it appears to be related to a road rage incident,' the statement said. Police describe the suspects as three, south Asian males. Anyone who witnesses the shooting or who believes they have relevant information, CCTV or dashcam video, is asked to call Surrey Police Service at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 2025-58724.

Ontario Provincial Police seized an expandable baton and a wooden club from a motor vehicle following a crash on Highway 17 in Baldwin Township on July 5, 2025. (Supplied/Ontario Provincial Police) Two individuals are facing multiple charges after Ontario Provincial Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 17 in Baldwin Township earlier this month. At about 1 a.m. on July 5, authorities received a report of a pickup truck in the ditch near Michon Road. Officers located the vehicle nearby and arrested both the driver and passenger following an investigation. Drugs and weapons seized 'Police seized an amount of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $45,500,' OPP said in a news release. The search of the vehicle also resulted in the seizure of an expandable baton and a wooden club. As a result, the driver, a 47-year-old woman from Carnarvon Township, and her passenger, a 37-year-old woman from Wikwemikong Unceded Territory, were both charged with two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, drug possession and drug trafficking. The driver also faces charges of failing to comply with a release order, driving while under suspension and impaired driving. In addition to charges Under provincial legislation, the motorist also received a 90-day driver's licence suspension and the vehicle involved was impounded for seven days at the owner's expense. Both accused were held for bail hearings. The driver remains in custody, while the passenger was released is scheduled to appear in court in Espanola on Aug. 18.

(Jamie Dowsett/CTV News Winnipeg) A Winnipeg restaurant experienced a large lineup Tuesday as thousands of free pizzas were handed out as part of a customer appreciation day. Flying Pizza on Edison Avenue provided the free meals to celebrate their 28th anniversary at that location, according to owner Ajay Chopra. 'We just like to do customer appreciation day,' said Chopra, adding that they also provided free pizzas to customers last year in a similar fashion. He said the lineup stretched to Henderson Highway as they planned to provide thousands of free large pepperoni pizzas between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Ajay Chopra Ajay Chopra, owner of the Flying Pizza on Edison Avenue, said the free pizzas were provided to show appreciation to customers. (Jamie Dowsett/CTV News Winnipeg) As of approximately 6:30 p.m., the lineup still stretched outside the entrance. One customer told CTV News he waited in line for nearly two hours to get a free pizza. '(Our customers) make us money every day. We can make them money once a year,' said Chopra.
