Director Vassishta's upcoming magnum opus 'Vishwambhara', starring Megastar Chiranjeevi, has been one of the most anticipated Telugu films, which will infuse high-quality VFX and visuals.
The director has finally opened up about the film's premise.
Film set in
Satya Lokam
In an interview with Gulte, Vassishta revealed that 'Vishwambhara' is set in Satya Lokam, the highest of the 14 realms (lokas) described in Hindu scriptures, where Lord Brahma resides. He explained, "There are 14 lokalu, seven above and seven below. Many filmmakers have explored different worlds before, like Yama Lokam or Svarga Lokam. We have already seen films where Yama Lokam and Svarga Lokam are explored.
I wanted to do something different.
"
The director added that the film follows a hero who must cross multiple worlds to rescue the heroine, a premise like the epics like
Rama
yana. "Just like Rama went for Sita, our hero ventures into unknown worlds for someone dear," he shared.
Not another JVAS
There have been speculations whether the movie is being inspired by Vassishta's previous fantasy hit 'Bimbisara' or the iconic 'Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari', which featured Chiranjeevi in a memorable fantasy role.

Addressing comparisons to 'Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari,' Vassishta clarified that 'Vishwambhara' is entirely original. "As a kid, I watched JVAS, but this film has nothing to do with that. Nor does it resemble Bhairava Dweepam. All fantasy films will see the hero look for a person or thing that is missing or in another world", he said.
Star-studded fantasy
'Vishwambhara' also features
Trisha Krishnan
as the female lead, along with Kunal Kapoor, Ashika Ranganath, and others in pivotal roles.
The movie was scheduled to be released on January 10, 2025, alongside the Sankranti festival, but this was moved for Ram Charan's 'Game Changer'. It got further delayed due to the extensive visual effects work needed to show the fantasy elements.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah's Dilip Joshi clears the air on his viral weight loss reports; says ‘Woh toh 1992 mein hua tha'

Dilip Joshi, beloved for his role as Jethalal in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, recently found himself trending—not for his comic timing, but for a rumoured 16 kg weight loss in just 45 days. Fans and social media went into a frenzy, eager to decode his so-called fitness secret. But the veteran actor has now hilariously busted the myth. At a recent Mumbai event, when asked about his transformation, Dilip laughed and said, 'Areey, 1992 mein kiya tha bhai, abhi pata nahi kissi ne social media pe chala diya yaar.' His witty reply left everyone, including the paparazzi, in splits. The confusion traces back to his 2023 interview, where Dilip had shared a lesser-known story from his early acting days. Back in 1992, while preparing for his role as a scientist in the Gujarati film Hun Hunshi Hunshilal, he had indeed lost 16 kgs—not recently, but decades ago. Balancing his acting aspirations with an office job, Joshi relied purely on discipline. 'I used to go to work, change at the swimming club, and then jog across Marine Drive to the Oberoi hotel in the rain. It took me around 45 minutes. I lost 16 kgs in one and a half months,' Dilip had revealed in that old interview. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Cardiologists Confirm: 60-Year-Old Sheds Fat With 4 Ingredients The Healthy Way Learn More Undo What's striking is the simplicity of his method—no gyms, no strict diets, no personal trainers—just old-school hard work and the iconic Marine Drive drizzle as his motivator. While the weight loss buzz may have been misplaced in time, Dilip Joshi's down-to-earth response reminds fans why he remains one of television's most adored personalities: honest, relatable, and effortlessly funny.

Meet superstar, 65, who is very popular among females, now set to clash with Rajinikanth as a cold-blooded villain, his name is…, not Kamal Haasan, Sanjay Dutt

A popular actor who once ruled hearts as Manmadhudu, the charming romantic hero everyone loved. But what happens when he drops the charm and embraces chaos? South's beloved 'Nag Mama' is about to show us. Nagarjuna Akkineni, known for his suave romantic and spiritual roles, is trading love for blood. In a surprising twist, he's set to play a brutal villain named 'Simon' in the upcoming Tamil action-thriller 'Coolie', directed by none other than Lokesh Kanagaraj. This is Nagarjuna's first full-fledged negative role in a Tamil film, something even Telugu directors hesitated to explore. 'Our Telugu directors could never imagine him as a villain,' say insiders. 'They feared audiences wouldn't accept it.' What triggered the buzz? A leaked video from the film went viral recently, showing Nagarjuna executing a cold-blooded murder. The clip not only shocked fans but also trended nationally, setting social media ablaze with debates. Can South's OG heartthrob pull off a villain? Were Telugu filmmakers playing it too safe with him? What's the plot? The rumoured plot of Coolie is as intense as the casting: 1. Rajinikanth plays a reformed gold mafia don who lives a quiet life. 2. His younger brother, Shabbir Shahir, works under Simon (Nagarjuna). 3. But things turn ugly when Simon and his men murder Shabbir, leading Rajinikanth back to the underworld for revenge. 4. A showdown ends with Simon's brutal end. Is this real or fan fiction? The plot may be speculative for now, but the excitement is very real. Tamil fans are calling Coolie a potential 1000-crore club entry, and some even feel Telugu cinema has underused Nagarjuna all these years.
