Ford recalls 850,000 vehicles over faulty fuel pumps
The recall covers models produced between 2021 and 2023 and includes truck models all the way up to the F-550 and various sport utility vehicles, such as the Bronco, Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, Expedition and Navigator produced for the U.S. market.
The vehicles covered in the recall all have Phinia-supplied fuel pumps that could fail unexpectedly, which can cause the vehicle to stall while in operation and increase the risk for a crash, the company said.
Ford began investigating the fuel pump issue in the fall of 2022 after an unusual number of warranty claims and customer complaints.
The investigation determined that the fuel pump openings were becoming clogged and not providing enough fuel to the engine.
The fuel pumps in question were installed in vehicles between July 2021 and December 2022. The company has said it is working on a replacement part, adding that owners and lessees would be notified of the recall by July 18.
Ford has said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries associated with the faulty fuel pumps.

Ford donates $1.25 million to Texas flood relief, launches recovery efforts
Ford Motor Co., its employees, dealers and philanthropic arm are uniting to help Texans as the grim search continues for the more than 173 people who remain missing after flash floods last week devastated the state. As of the morning of July 10, the death toll from the catastrophic flooding of the Guadalupe River in central Texas rose to 119 people, according to a USA TODAY report. To help in the search and recovery, Ford, its dealers in Texas and Ford Philanthropy are donating $1.25 million to local charities to support the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country as well as local affiliates of Ford's "Building Together" partners. Ford Philanthropy, which used to be called Ford Fund until last year, is a nonprofit funded by Ford Motor Co. Formed in 1949, Ford and its philanthropic arm have donated $2.3 billion to charities in that time, according to Last month, Ford launched its new "Building Together" program aimed at unifying Ford corporate leaders, employees, dealerships and nonprofit groups when responding to a crisis. Ford gives back: Bryan Cranston champions Ford's new philanthropy push at revived Detroit landmark Beyond the money, Ford employees, dealers and nonprofits will provide immediate help and lay the foundation for recovery by running shelters and reunification centers and distributing emergency food boxes. 'All of us at Ford are deeply saddened by the devastating floods in Central Texas and our thoughts are with all the families and communities who are mourning the loss of loved ones," said Elena Ford, Ford's chief dealer engagement officer, in an email to the Detroit Free Press, part of the USA TODAY Network. Ford offers payment relief Beyond the money, Ford said the automaker's dealers in Texas are providing loaner vehicles to the American Red Cross to help it widen its response efforts in reaching impacted areas. Also, Ford said that on July 17, Ford employees and dealers will come to the North Texas Food Bank to pack food boxes for local Texas families, including those impacted by the floods. On July 10, Ford Volunteer Corps members started preparing to deploy to Texas with Team Rubicon. A longtime partner with Ford Philanthropy, Team Rubicon is a veteran-led humanitarian organization that provides disaster relief and aid nationwide. Through Ford's new Extended Volunteer Paid Time Off Policy, Ford's trained volunteers will join Team Rubicon's mission as the recovery efforts begin in Texas. Finally, Ford Credit is offering a deferred payment option to customers in FEMA Designated Areas. Ford Credit and Lincoln Automotive Financial Services are offering payment extensions of up to 60 days for customers affected by the storms, straight-line winds and flooding in Texas. Elena Ford said the automaker's dealers have always been deeply rooted in their communities and are known to step up when help is needed, such as in this case. "As search and rescue efforts continue and recovery begins, we're standing alongside our Texas Ford Dealers, Ford Philanthropy, and nonprofit partners to ensure critical support gets to those who need it most," Ford said. Toyota also lends a hand Ford's news comes after Toyota Motor North America said on July 8 that it was partnering with Toyota Financial Services, distributors Gulf States Toyota and Southeast Toyota and Vic Vaughan Toyota of Boerne and Toyota and Lexus dealers nationwide, to provide a combined donation of more than $600,000 to help people impacted by the floods in Texas. The group's relief efforts include donations to the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country's Kerr County Flood Relief Fund, along with matching contributions, in-kind donations and volunteerism. Also, Toyota Financial Services is offering payment relief options to affected customers. "When disasters like this occur, it's important to help our neighbors and communities in their time of need," said Ted Ogawa, chief executive officer, Toyota Motor North America. "Our hearts go out to everyone affected by this horrible tragedy." General Motors spokeswoman Tara Kuhnen said the automaker is providing the American Red Cross with pickups and SUVs to aid in recovery efforts. "Our participation and contribution to the Red Cross' Annual Disaster Giving Program equips the Red Cross with the immediate resources to respond quickly and provide critical shelter and supplies to those impacted by the tragic flooding," Kuhnen said in a statement. Additionally, GM has activated OnStar Full Crisis Mode services in Texas, Kuhnen said. That means anyone in an OnStar-equipped Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet or GMC vehicle impacted by the floods can press the in-vehicle blue button for complimentary crisis assist services, or the red emergency button if they are in need of immediate emergency help. A Stellantis spokesperson did not immediately provide a comment when asked whether the company plans to give any aid to Texas. Jamie L. A Little Good News for Ford Investors -- But There's a Catch
Ford's employee pricing campaign lured in the customers. Following employee pricing is another incentive push. The model you want might not be included. 10 stocks we like better than Ford Motor Company › If you follow Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F), or perhaps the auto industry in general, you've likely heard about Ford's "From America, For America" campaign offering employee pricing discounts on select 2024 and 2025 models during the second quarter. The deal that helped drive solid results for the company. (More on this in a second.) That incentive is officially over, right as broader auto sales are expected to slump due to tariff effects. But fear not -- there's good news on another upcoming incentive. Let's look at the results from Ford's employee discounting and what to expect going forward. If investors were counting on employee pricing discounts to bring in consumers, it delivered. As customers cashed in on the incentive campaign, so did Ford, with second-quarter U.S. light-vehicle sales rising 14%, compared to the prior year. That 14% gain was about 10 times the estimated 1.4% industry increase. Furthermore, Ford's market share jumped 1.8 percentage points. "We blew the doors off the overall industry with our second-quarter sales," Andrew Frick, president of Ford Blue and Model e, said in a press release. Now, with Q2 in the books, analysts generally expect a slump in automotive sales in the U.S. in the second half of 2025 as tariff effects begin to filter through the industry. We're already seeing some effect, especially on electric vehicles (EVs). After Ford announced in May that it was raising the price on the Mach-E, which is built in Mexico and subject to tariffs, sales of the vehicle dropped 20% during Q2. Ford's F-150 Lightning and E-Transit sales were down 26% and 88%, respectively. But the good news for Ford investors is that the automaker isn't simply ending incentives, of course. It has the second part of its one-two punch coming. Ford begins the third quarter with most Ford and Lincoln models offering no-interest financing for 48 months, no money down, and no payments for the first 90 days. The deal runs through Sept. 2. It's a strategic move. Ford believes that people have seen increasing costs in other parts of their lives, including higher mortgage rates. Management thinks that forgoing an up-front down payment will enable people to purchase a new vehicle. Now, there is a small catch for customers and, indirectly, investors. Ford did note that the third-quarter incentive excludes the 2025 Bronco Sport, Expedition, Maverick, Ranger, Transit, Super Duty, and Lincoln Navigator. It also excludes the 2024 Maverick, Ranger, Transit, Super Duty, F-150 Lightning, and Mustang Mach-E, as well as both year models of the high-performance Raptor. A potential catch for investors is that these incentives can erode profits if done irresponsibly. We haven't seen the industry in "bad incentive spending" mode in a long time, and that shouldn't be a concern here, either. Ford's upcoming incentive campaign is good news for investors after it just finished a strong employee pricing campaign that drove sales and market share higher. This also shows that Ford is in tune with its dealership network -- ask Stellantis how important that is -- and that it's attempting to offset what is expected to be a weaker second half of the year. It's all just a little good news for an automaker's stock that has failed to gain traction with Wall Street. Ford Launches Perfect Summertime Bronco Sport Lease Offer for July
The Ford Bronco Sport has always carved out its own niche in the crossover world. It's small, boxy, and built with real off-road chops-traits that set it apart from the more road-focused competition. Now, thanks to a strong lease deal for July, it's a lot more affordable to drive one home. This month, Ford is offering a special lease on the 2025 Bronco Sport Big Bend trim, and it might just be the push some buyers need to make the leap. Whether you're looking for a daily driver with trail-ready DNA or a city-friendly SUV with weekend warrior potential, the Bronco Sport delivers a lot for the money. Ford's July lease special applies to the 2025 Bronco Sport Big Bend and includes monthly payments of $299 for 36 months, with $3,749 due at signing. That's a solid deal for an AWD crossover with real capability and rugged charm, especially considering the $32,990 MSRP. While the lease term is longer than some competing offers at 36 months, the low monthly price and built-in AWD make this a practical option for anyone shopping for a sub-$300 lease. For budget-conscious drivers who still want a sense of adventure, this deal checks a lot of boxes. Unlike many small crossovers, the Bronco Sport isn't just about styling. It's designed for drivers who want actual adventure capability, and Ford has baked that into the platform. Every Bronco Sport comes standard with all-wheel drive, and even the base models feature the brand's G.O.A.T. (Goes Over Any Terrain) system, with multiple drive modes to tackle snow, mud, and sand. The Big Bend trim-featured in this month's lease deal-adds useful creature comforts like heated mirrors, push-button start, and Ford's clever MOLLE strap system inside the cabin for organizing your gear. The 17-inch wheels and rugged body cladding complete the outdoorsy look, but it's more than just cosmetic. While the Bronco Sport is no substitute for a full-sized Bronco in rock-crawling scenarios, it's genuinely competent on rougher trails. Think of it as the Subaru Forester's scrappier cousin, with a bit more attitude and a touch more capability. Ford's latest Bronco Sport lease offer makes a strong case for getting into a compact SUV that doesn't feel like a compromise. With standard all-wheel drive, genuine trail-ready features, and a design that stands out in the school pickup line or the state park, the Bronco Sport is a rare blend of fun and function. If you've been eyeing something a little more rugged than your average city crossover, but still want the comfort and convenience of a daily driver, this July lease deal is worth a serious look. The Bronco Sport may not be the biggest SUV on the lot, but right now, it might just be the smartest one to lease. *Disclaimer: This article is provided for informational purposes only.
