Average Brit bloke keeps his hairstyle for over a DECADE, survey shows – are you in need of a trim?
A poll of 2,000 males found they've stuck with it due to lack of confidence to change - are you in need of a trim?
2
Reasons for sticking with the same hair style
Other reasons cited include fears what others will think and just not caring what their locks look like.
They typically solidified their style aged 31, with the short back and sides the most common trim (35 per cent), ahead of the buzzcut (16 per cent).
While the 'alpaca back and sides' also has its fans (seven per cent) - so-called because it resembles the animal's mane.
The cut is particularly popular with 25 to 34-year-olds (17 per cent).
Shearer shop launched
Following the research commissioned by Alpacalypse Session IPA by SALT Brewery, a pop-up Shearer Shop offering one haircut – the alpaca back and sides – has been launched.
Spokesperson for the brewery Edd Simpson said: "We knew Alpacalypse would turn heads — we just didn't expect it to be at the barbershop.
"Now everyone wants the alpaca back and sides."
The study also found of those who haven't adopted it already, 23 per cent of men would be 'likely' to give the alpaca trim a try.
With 'because it looks cool' (55 per cent), thinking it would suit them (52 per cent), and simply wanting a change (41 per cent) among the reasons why.
It also emerged those polled were most experimental with their style aged 22.
Further to this, of all the things men are most likely to experiment with – such as clothes and cuisine, their hair is the area they're least open to doing something new with.
Although 33 per cent 'might' be willing to change their mop with consultancy from a trusted stylist.
Major Life Change
20 per cent admitted they might consider a new look following a major life change such as a break-up or a job change.
Carried out through OnePoll, the research found 38 per cent admit they care what others think about their look - with 28 per cent convinced they're more stylish than their mates.
While those polled also revealed which animals they think have the best hair – the male lion came top, followed by the Samoyed dog, highland cattle, and the alpaca.
Richard Tucker, senior barber at Ruffians, which has teamed up Alpacalypse Session IPA by SALT Brewery, for the pop-up added: 'We're delighted to host the Alpacalyse Shearer Shop as Brits embrace a new look."

B&M is selling out of £3 ‘stylish' ornament that adds splash of colour to eyesore walls & makes your garden look bigger
IF your garden wall is bringing down the tone of your outdoor space, don't worry. A simple addition can instantly elevate your wall, and you can pick it up for cheaper than ever from B&M. Tall garden walls can make your space feel claustrophobic and cramped. To brighten them up and make your garden feel better, all you need is this affordable ornament. Adding a wall planter to your outdoor space can help create a vertical garden. According to the experts at Atlas Sheds, this step can introduce colour and levels to your garden. "Maximise vertical space with raised beds, wall planters, or tiered garden shelves," they recommended. The pros explained that this will "add levels to your garden, making it appear more spacious and creating more opportunities for plant growth". "Structures like pergolas and trellises can draw the eyes upward, adding height to the space," they added. And opting for vibrant flowers in your fun planter can add even more "character and depth to small gardens". For an "open and airy" feel, they suggested incorporating light blue and soft green flowers into your wall planters. And thanks to B&M, you can add even more personality with a Watering Can Wall Planter. 'I was quoted £10,000 for a garden renovation but did it MYSELF for £1,000 using ChatGPT to show my kids what single mums can do' The bargain retailer has recently slashed the price of this decor item by 50%. B&M shoppers can now pick the wall planter up for just £3 instead of £6. According to its manufacturers, this planter "makes a stylish addition to your garden". M&S version A similar version is available at Marks & Spencer for a slightly higher price. The Suede Buckle Footbed Mules are available for £29.50, in both black and khaki. "Add some luxe texture to your favourite sunny day looks with these suede mules," said the product description. Hottest fashion trends of 2025 Fabulous' Fashion Editor Clemmie Fieldsend shares the biggest trends from the high street. The East/West Bag Baguette bags have had a good run, after returning from the 1990s' shoulders of Sarah Jessica Parker to modern-day fashion icons, like Hailey Bieber. In 2025, the East/West bag is a similar but elongated shape and has long, thin straps that are easy to throw over your shoulder. They've been on runway models' arms at nearly ever designer show - think Burberry, Givenchy and Bottega Veneta - and are hitting the high street now, too. Powder pink Bright fuchsia pink had its day after the release of Barbie in 2023 and now the more polished and expensive-looking pale shade is taking over for 2025. Pantone may say that it's the year of Mocha Mousse, but the catwalks say otherwise! From Prada to Erdem, the subtle look was all over the spring/summer catwalks, worn head-to-toe or on its own. If the sugary shade is too girly for you, then look to sharp suiting for a androgynous take on the colour. The shell jacket The '80s classic is back, but with a sleek and minimal new twist for 2025. We all know we're likely to see rain for most of spring, so your practical coat of choice should be a cagoule jacket. Depop revealed one of its big trend predictions for this year is retro sportswear, with surges already seen in '80s windbreakers'. Seen everywhere from the stylish streets of Copenhagen to the Miu Miu catwalk, now mums who have an emergency raincoat crumpled underneath their pushchair are very much in fashion! The turn-up jeans While the shape of jeans remains the same for this year and barrel-legs will still be everywhere, the way we're styling them is different. This season, transform your wide-leg, baggy denims into turn-ups. For this look, size doesn't matter, so while deep turn-ups are a hit from jean trend-leaders Citizens of Humanity, a slight fold is still just as good - but only as it's just one single fold. Peep-toe shoe Get your pedicures booked in sharpish, as this season your toes are the main event. After a long hiatus, the peep-toe has been welcomed back into the fashion fold, with brands like Hermes, Miu Miu and Tory Burch showing plain and embellished footwear in this style. From mules to pumps and clogs (yes, clogs will be around too!), there are lots of different styles that are set to sweep the high street. Sheer blouses See-through looks have always lived on the catwalk, but have rarely filtered into everyday life - until now. Designers Ralph Lauren and Tom Ford loved sheer looks on their S/S '25 catwalks and M&S even had sellout success with its black sheer pencil skirt last season. Expect to see more sheer looks lining supermarket aisles and high street shops in the form of skirts, tops and frocks. More on fashion buys Plus, the £12 jeans available from Sainsbury's, they're perfect for summer and autumn. Another Sainsbury's fashion buy looks fresh out of the 1920s. The retailer also has a £26 dress that shoppers say is perfect for summer getaways. And an £11 Tesco dress that works "year round" and is super flattering around the arms. Another Tesco printed midi dress is available for £12, it disguises your tummy and is perfect for summer.

Rio Ferdinand claps back at trolls on wife Kate's bikini pictures
Rio Ferdinand has stepped in to defend his wife Kate after she was criticised for sharing holiday pictures that featured her in a bikini. The TV personality and influencer shared a carousel of photos from recent family time abroad on Saturday morning. 'July has been full of memories (& food) in our home from home,' she captioned the post, which included pictures of her and her husband holding hands outside a front door, a spread of tasty-looking food, time hanging out on the beach together and the family jumping into the pool together. Naturally for someone enjoying a holiday abroad in the sun, Kate was seen in swimwear – and her choices were olive green and black bikinis. Among pictures and videos Kate had shared playing with her kids, she'd also shared a happy selfie, wearing orange-tinted sunglasses, from a towel lying out on the grass in the shade. In another picture, she'd snapped a classic bathroom selfie while in her black bikini, her hair wet from swimming. 'Don't think you need to show in a bikini [sic.],' observed Brenda Weaver in the comments section. It's not clear which photo had offended her, but Rio was having none of it. Within minutes of her posting the remark, Rio had responded: '@brendaweav1 ffs Brenda have a day off 😘' Softening the retort with an emoji but not mincing his words earned both Rio and Kate an avalanche of support with the former footballer's comment garnering 1,247 likes alone. 'Why not? She looks sensational 😍 xx,' added @kellyannw1980. '@rioferdy5 😂😂😂 Tell dem,' responded @may_yomi10. The 46-year-old pundit and ex-England captain and his wife, 34, share five kids together. Son Cree came along in December 2020, while daughter Shae turned two just days ago. Kate is also step-mum to Rio's teenage kids Lorenz, 19, Tate, 16 and 14-year-old Tia, whom he had with late wife Rebecca Ellison. Rebecca tragically died of breast cancer in May 2025, aged just 34. Kate demonstrated her sweet relationship with the teenagers after Tate left two hearts in the comments of her post. 'Omg! You commented on my picture. Must be my lucky day!! 🤣,' she responded to the footballer with Brighton & Hove Albion FC's U18 team. She had also previously shared a snap of her taking a photo of Tia in a summery outfit outdoors – with her face covered by a yellow heart emoji – on her Instagram Stories, joking: 'Hey, I'm Kate, Tia's personal photographer.' In April it was reported that Rio and Kate are eyeing up a move to Dubai – which was likely where they were spending their down time in July. More Trending It's where the couple first met while Kate was on holiday in 2016, being introduced through a mutual friend, before they got together in 2017 and married in Turkey in September 2019. The Sun reported that they were 'seriously considering being based out in the Gulf' and had already started looking at possible homes and schools. 'They love the lifestyle and sunny weather and have lots of friends out there. It's a very safe place for families and offers a healthy lifestyle, which suits them well,' a source told the publication. 'It holds a special place in their hearts as that's where they met and both could easily travel back and forth for their work commitments in the UK.' Got a story?
