Saudi Royal Adviser visits Sharjah Quran Academy

Dr Sheikh Saleh Bin Abdullah Bin Humaid, Adviser at the Saudi Royal Court and Imam and Preacher of the Grand Mosque in Makkah, was briefed on the mission and global contributions of the Holy Quran Academy in Sharjah in serving the Holy Quran, its sciences, and prominent figures in its history.
He commended the efforts of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for establishing this remarkable institution.
The Academy is devoted to the Quran and its sciences, and it houses a rare collection of manuscripts and possessions of notable Quran reciters who have made a significant impact on preserving and transmitting the Holy Quran through the centuries.
The visit was part of the agenda of Dr Sheikh Saleh Bin Humaid and Dr Mohammed Abdulrahman Al-Duwaini, Deputy of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif in Egypt, along with other participants in the 'Objectives of the Holy Quran: Between Theory and Practice' conference organised by the University of Sharjah.
They were welcomed at the Academy by Dr. Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji, Chairman of the Sharjah Quran Academy, Abdullah Khalaf Al-Hosani, the Secretary General, and a number of department heads.
Dr. Al Tunaiji welcomed the guests and accompanied them on a tour of the Quranic museums. He gave a detailed overview of the Academy's vision, mission, and three foundational pillars: the Sharjah Global Electronic Qira'ah platform, which currently serves Quranic certification students in 172 countries; scientific studies and research; and the Quranic museums.
The visitors explored exhibits on the history of Quranic script, rare manuscripts, the science of Quranic readings (qira'at), renowned Quran reciters, scientific miracles in the Quran, and the covering of the Kaaba (kiswa), among other invaluable artefacts.
Dr Sheikh Saleh Bin Humaid expressed his admiration for the Academy, calling it a distinctive cultural and intellectual landmark in the field of Quranic knowledge. He praised its innovative methods in education, research, and documentation of Quranic sciences and interpretation, underscoring its vital role in preserving, spreading, and honouring the message of the Quran worldwide.

He noted that this simplicity is a cornerstone of eloquent Arabic expression and that true depth lies not in complexity, but in the ability to simplify without compromising meaning or content. Elements of professional news writing The workshop included a theoretical component covering types of news, qualities of good reporting, and the structural elements of professional news writing. It also featured practical exercises where participants were trained in drafting news stories professionally, with emphasis on linguistic accuracy, syntactic precision, and correct punctuation usage. At the conclusion of the workshop, Dr Al-Mustghanemi honoured the participants and awarded them certificates in recognition of their engagement and commitment. This workshop is part of the Academy's ongoing efforts to serve the local community and support language and media skills across government institutions, in line with its vision to strengthen the presence of Arabic in professional and communicative fields.

The graduates, representing three government departments, completed diplomas in Building and Environmental Inspection, Food Inspection and Health Control (in collaboration with Sharjah Municipality), Road and Traffic Inspection (in partnership with the Roads and Transport Authority), and Agricultural, Animal, and Health Inspection (for the Department of Agriculture and Livestock). Each program was meticulously crafted to address the real-world needs of the emirate's regulatory landscape, underscoring the University of Sharjah's commitment to institutional partnerships, and applied professional education that empowers Emirati talent for supervisory and oversight roles critical to sustainable development. The ceremony began with the UAE national anthem and a recitation from the Holy Quran. Then, His Excellency Prof. Esameldin Agamy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, opened the proceedings by expressing deep gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University, for his unwavering support of development initiatives and his vision for collaborative engagement with local institutions. In his turn, His Excellency Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, Director General of Sharjah Municipality, described the diploma as a qualitative leap in training field employees and inspectors, enhancing their expertise and creating significant opportunities for improvement across municipal operations. He highlighted the critical role of specialized national talent in driving government excellence, especially amid Sharjah's rapid urban and population growth. Echoing the same ideas, Salem Abdullah Al Kaabi, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Livestock, emphasized that developing innovative and distinguished Emirati professionals is a core priority for his department. He noted that the diploma program is central to advancing best practices in agriculture and food safety, supporting food security, and optimizing the use of natural resources. Addressing the audience, Dr. Asma Nassiri, Director of the Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development, affirmed that the center, with the support of UoS leadership, is dedicated to ensuring that professional diploma programs provide a comprehensive, hands-on experience that transcends traditional academic boundaries. She explained that the programs were designed and delivered in partnership with leading faculty and industry experts, blending theory with practice in a professional environment aligned with global standards. Strengthening ties with government entities, she said, is crucial to preparing graduates who can meet emerging challenges and deliver tangible value in their fields. Maryam Sultan Al Ali, Employment Expert at the Human Resources Department, added that the diplomas were developed based on careful analysis of government needs, ensuring that training programs are closely aligned with the technical requirements of each role. She described the graduates as a valuable addition to the specialized inspection teams, demonstrating the effectiveness of targeted, competency-based recruitment. The event featured a multimedia presentation documenting the students' journey, followed by a graduate's speech expressing pride in belonging to the University of Sharjah and gratitude for the opportunity to enhance their professional skills. Graduates celebrated the unique blend of in-depth academic content and intensive practical training, praising the quality of the programs delivered in Arabic across University classrooms, central laboratories, and field sites at partner government agencies. The ceremony concluded with the awarding of certificates and commemorative photographs, marking a pivotal milestone in the graduates' professional journeys. The event was attended by Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zaabi, Prof. Esameldin Agamy, Engineer Yousef Khamis Al Othmani, Majid Hamad Al Marri, Salem Abdullah Al Kaabi, Atef Al Zarouni, and a host of academic and administrative leaders, as well as the proud graduates themselves.
