How is Eddie Murphy now related to Martin Lawrence?

Perth Now29-05-2025

Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence are now related.
The two actors are delighted that Eddie's son Eric Murphy, 35, and Martin's daughter Jasmin Lawrence, 29, "ran off and got married" at a "church" a couple of weeks ago, following their engagement in November 2024.
Eddie - who starred in the 1999 Universal comedy-thriller 'Life' with Martin - spilled on their decision to elope to Jennifer Hudson, 43, on her eponymous talk show, saying: "They got married, like, two weeks ago.
"They went off ... everybody was making the big wedding plans, and then they decided they wanted to do something quiet with just the two of them. And then they got married."
As Eric and Jasmin opted for a low-key affair, the 'Shrek' star - who has Eric with his former girlfriend Paulette McNeely, who he dated in the 1980s - joked that Martin no longer has to stump up a lot of cash to pay for a lavish wedding for his daughter.
He joked: "Yeah, we're in-laws. And he doesn't have to pay for that big wedding now.
"They went off and got married at the church. They just had the two of them and the preacher. They had a quiet, little thing.
"Some people have like a big party, or something, but they ran off and got married."
The 'Big Momma' star - who has Jasmin with his 54-year-old ex-wife Patricia Southall - previously revealed that he was expected to pay for Eric and Jasmin's wedding because Eddie covered the costs of his children's "last six weddings".
Appearing on iHeartRadio's 'Big Boy's Neighborhood' in December 2024, Martin said: "Eddie said I gotta pay for it.
"He said I gotta pay for it, 'cause he paid for his last daughter's wedding — like the last six weddings — but he said it's my turn now."
Eddie's 1985 song 'Party All the Time' was the lead single on his first album 'How Could It Be', and it spent three weeks at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.
However, the 'Beverly Hills Cop' actor insisted he will not be singing if Eric and Jasmin - who began dating in 2021 - have a second wedding that will see the smitten couple say "I do" in front of family and friends or a celebratory party.
But, he did not rule out on performing a "duet" with Martin.
After Jennifer teased the idea of Eddie picking up a microphone and performing, the dad-of-10 said: "No, I'm not singing! Martin will sing at the wedding. Do a duet. Yeah, maybe."

Martin Freeman and Iain Armitage cast in The Adam Trials

Martin Freeman and Iain Armitage are to star in The Adam Trials. The duo have signed up to appear in the psychological thriller that contains a sci-fi twist from writer-director Ben Katai. The movie centres on the story of two parents who will do anything to save the life of their terminally ill son, including experimenting with nanotechnology that begins to show successful signs but at a dark cost. Compelling Pictures are producing the film whilst Freeman is on board as an executive producer with Noah Rosen, Dennis Casali, Matthew Gallagher and Steven Garcia. Casting for the female lead has started as the movie aims to shoot this year. Katai - who previously collaborated with Freeman on the crime drama series StartUp - said: "This movie has been a dream of mine for quite some time now, as has the opportunity to work with Martin again. "Now with Iain's talent in the mix, I am counting the seconds until we start rolling." Compelling Pictures boss Denis O'Sullivan said: "As lifelong fans of thought-provoking, grounded sci-fi, it's thrilling to be part of bringing this pressure-cooker of a movie to the screen with the enormously talented Ben Katai. "Audiences will be on the edge of their seats watching the cat-and-mouse game that unfolds between Martin and Iain as the story hurtles towards a stunning final twist." Martin's previous film credits include Love Actually and The Hobbit franchise and he revealed back in 2022 that he would "consider" directing a big screen flick. The 53-year-old actor told Collider: "It's something that I would consider. I do think about it. I change with it, really. Sometimes when I'm on set and I see what a director does, I look at it and go, 'Yeah, I could do that. I'd be right with this part of it.' However, the Black Panther star isn't sure if he has the "mental bandwidth" to deal with the "endless questions" that are asked of directors during the making of a movie. Martin said: "But then, there are other parts of directing that I'm still not sure I'd have the mental bandwidth for, just with the endless questions and how you have to be across everything. I know I would enjoy the bits where I'm rehearsing with actors. I don't know how good I'd be at the other stuff, or how much I'd enjoy that stuff. But never say never. If I get the confidence to think I could do it, then maybe so." The star plays CIA operative Everett K. Ross in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) but admits that there was a "gap" on set of the movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever without the late Chadwick Boseman, who played the title role in the original film before his death from cancer at the age of 43 in 2020. Freeman said: "It was strange, that side of it. On the one hand, you're making the film that you're there to make, and there are scores and scores of people on set, joined in this endeavor to make the film. But there's also no question that, at the heart of it, there's quite a gap now, and you felt it."

Influencer announces own death in social media video

A popular US influencer has died after a difficult battle with cancer at the age of 30, just weeks after becoming a father. Martin pre-recorded a video before his death which his wife, Shay Wright, posted to his Instagram account on Wednesday. 'May the force be with you from our angel force ghost🤍' the video was captioned. Tragically, Martin gave his final farewell to his followers just 41 days after he and his wife welcomed their daughter, AmyLou. Martin started sharing his health updates with followers on social media after he was diagnosed with colorectal cancer five years ago and now has more than 450,000 followers on Instagram. If you're watching this, I am dead,' he announces at the start of the video, then laughs at his own gallows humour. 'I had a heck of a life. I decided to make this video announcing my death because I saw someone did that, like, a year or so ago, and I think it's a good opportunity to get all your thoughts out.' 'Hopefully, I believe there's something after this. I'm excited to meet those people, and hopefully we're hanging out now and making fun of all you nerds,' he joked. His wife also shared a second video, an hour after the first, which revealed Martins 'last wish'. If you'd like to view this content, please adjust your . In the video Martin can be seen visibly frail with his newborn daughter asleep beside him, reflecting that AmyLou would likely have no memories of him because of how young she would be when he died. He asked his followers to help his young family after his death by contributing to a GoFundMe page set up in their name which has already raised more than $450,000 of the $750,000 target. The young couple were aware of the serious nature of Martin's illness when they announced they were expecting their first child together in November last year. But the pain soon grew, and he decided to see a doctor after he began having difficulty going to the bathroom as well. A colonoscopy soon discovered that he had stage 4 colorectal cancer, which had already spread to his liver by the time it was uncovered. By 2023, doctors determined that Tanner's cancer was no longer curable, and they estimated that he might live two to five more years.

Barbra Streisand ‘p**sed off' over her Meet the Fockers pay

Don't miss out on the headlines from Movies. Followed categories will be added to My News. A star is scorned. Barbra Streisand is so 'p**sed off' about her Meet the Fockers and Little Fockers pay cheques from 2004 and 2010 that she may never return to the comedy movie series, the Oscar winner said in a new interview. 'Oh my God,' Streisand, 83, told Variety. 'They'd have to pay me a lot of money because I didn't get paid what the other people got paid, and so I'm p**sed off.' Sources told Page Six in 2011 that Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro each took home $20 million (A$30 million) for Little Fockers, Owen Wilson pocketed $15 million (A$23 million), and Dustin Hoffman was paid $7.5 million (A$11.5 million). Meanwhile, Streisand made just $7 million (A$10.7 million). The A Star Is Born actress went on: 'I was in the time when women were getting paid less than the men. The head of Universal was Ron Meyer at the time, and he actually sent me a bonus check. It was very sweet.' Streisand appeared as Stiller's mum in the franchise. In the Meet the Parents sequels, Streisand played Rozalin Focker, the eccentric mum of Stiller's character Greg and the wife of Hoffman's Bernie. The wacky couple bump heads with retired CIA agent Jack (De Niro) and his wife Dina (Blythe Danner). Now, a fourth Fockers flick is in the works and due out in 2026. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the son of Stiller and Teri Polo's characters gets engaged to a big-personality woman played by Ariana Grande. Alongside Stiller, 59, and Polo, 56, also confirmed to reprise their parts are De Niro, 81, Danner, 82, and Wilson, 56. Streisand claimed her co-stars were paid more than she was. When informed by Variety that Grande would be joining the Meet the Fockers family, Streisand replied, 'You're kidding.' But, she added of the Oscar nominee, her grandkids are fans. 'They love Wicked,' she said. Streisand's new album is called 'The Secret of Life, Volume Two' and includes duets with Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Josh Groban and James Taylor, among others. It comes out June 27. However, the Evergreen singer is uncertain if she'll even perform live again. 'Oh, God. I doubt it,' she told the trade. 'But there's a little part of me that may consider that. But the other part of me goes, why?'
