India stands uniquely poised to emerge as a global manufacturing powerhouse amid the challenging geopolitical environment, according to Mahindra & Mahindra Group CEO and Managing Director Anish Shah. Addressing shareholders in the group's Annual Report for 2024-25, Shah noted that with its growing infrastructure, young workforce, and favourable policies, India's opportunity to lead the world in manufacturing has never been greater. "The current geopolitical and economic landscape is challenging, with persistent headwinds across continents. Yet, India stands uniquely poised to emerge as a global manufacturing powerhouse," Shah stated. Mumbai-headquartered Mahindra group aspires to be a globally recognised brand and has made significant strides, he noted. "At 80 years, Mahindra remains deeply anchored in its values and steadfast in its commitment to performance, even amid global uncertainty. Our growth is propelled by the India story ... we operate in 70 per cent of the country's GDP and we are aligned with the opportunities this dynamic economy offers," Shah stated. Elaborating on business, he stated that the company's growth gems are scaling rapidly, establishing a strong presence in their respective markets and well on track to delivering the promise of 5x growth. "Our Lifespaces business is developing greener buildings, Susten and our renewables InvIT are driving the transition to renewable energy, while our last mile mobility venture is driving electrification of passenger and cargo 3-wheelers to reduce pollution in cities," Shah said. Mahindra Logistics and Club Mahindra are delivering greater customer value, while Trucks & Buses and Aerostructures are charting an even more aggressive growth path, he said. Additionally, the group's emerging growth gems (Accelo, Classic Legends, Car & Bike) are well poised to create value, he added. Shah said FY25 turned out to be an exceptional year for the Mahindra Group, reflecting strong, broad-based growth and stellar execution across businesses. Revenue grew by 14 per cent reaching Rs 1,59,211 crore, while profit after tax (PAT) soared 20 per cent to Rs 12,929 crore, he said. "Our auto and farm sectors (biz verticals) continued to gain market share, expanding their profitability, and reinforcing their leadership positions. The launch of our Electric Origin SUVs redefines quality standards and marks a significant milestone in India's EV journey," he added. At Tech Mahindra, the company strengthened client relationships and improved operational margins, and Mahindra Finance enhanced stability while achieving 33 per cent profit growth, Shah said. PTI

Remove Ads Bearings maker SKF India plans to invest up to Rs 1,460 crore by 2030 to enhance its manufacturing capabilities across key facilities in both industrial and automotive segments , according to an investor presentation by the company has lined up capital expenditure of about Rs 1,210 crore to Rs 1,460 crore by 2030, to increase manufacturing capacities at its facilities in Haridwar, Pune , and the plan, SKF India is looking to invest a total of Rs 800 crore to Rs 950 crore towards its industrial business over the next five years, on channel expansion to meet the growing demand in India and construction of a new plant in Pune by 2028, as per the investment on channel expansion will be around Rs 350 crore to Rs 450 crore between 2025 to 2030, while on the new plant it will be around Rs 450 crore to Rs 500 its automotive business, SKF India said it has lined up Rs 410 crore to Rs 510 crore by 2030, which will include capacity increases at its key manufacturing plants in Haridwar, Pune, and investments will focus on bearings for two-wheelers, electric vehicle (EV) powertrains, and wheel-end bearings for both passenger and commercial vehicles. Haridwar facility will witness investment ranging from Rs 100 crore to Rs 150 crore for a 50 per cent capacity increase to cater to the growing demand for EV powertrain bearings, with completion targeted for 2029, the company India further said, it plans to increase its Pune plant capacity by 30 per cent to manufacture unitised wheel-end bearings for both internal combustion engine (ICE) and EV applications, with an investment of Rs 300 crore to Rs 350 crore and completion scheduled for the Bangalore facility, the company said it plans to hike capacity by 10 per cent, focusing on two-wheeler and EV powertrain-specific bearings, with an estimated investment of Rs 10 crore and completion expected by the demerger of the two businesses, the company said it is expected to proceed with key milestones across CY25 with listing and trading expected in Q4 of CY25.

How Reliance Defence's partnership with Coastal Mechanics will aid Indian armed forces? As per an official press release issued by Reliance Infra, the 'strategic partnership' between Reliance Defence and Coastal Mechanics will focus on providing end-to-end Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul (MRO), upgrade, and lifecycle support solutions for the Indian Armed Forces, targeting a wide range of critical platforms such as 100+ Jaguar fighter aircrafts, 100+ MiG-29 fighter aircrafts, the fleet of Apache attack helicopters, L-70 air defence guns, and other legacy systems that require long-term sustainment and modernisation. The two companies will also set up a Joint Venture (JV) at MIHAN in Maharashtra, to serve both the Indian market and export markets, the release said, adding the joint venture will provide complete Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) and upgrade services for various air and land defence platforms used by the Indian armed forces. 'Coastal Mechanics supplies critical components to the US Air Force and US Army. Its partnership with Reliance Defence brings world-class manufacturing capabilities and global certifications into India's aerospace ecosystem,' it said. Meanwhile, Anil Ambani-led Reliance Infrastructure reiterated its aim of making Reliance Defence one of India's top three defence exporters. 'The partnership represents a significant step in advancing the Government of India's 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' and 'Make in India' initiatives, aimed at indigenising defence production and reducing reliance on imports,' the release added. Reliance Infrastructure Limited and Reliance Power Limited are the two main companies of the Anil Ambani-led Reliance Group, which are completely debt-free with zero outstanding loans from banks or financial institutions. Reliance Infrastructure Limited is active in the energy sector, focusing on power distribution in Delhi and power generation. The company also has interests in defence manufacturing and plays a key role in infrastructure development through special purpose vehicles (SPVs), including projects like the Mumbai Metro.
