A judge of a Delhi court has given a poetic touch to his judgment while granting bail to a man accused of illegally possessing his mother's property, LiveLaw reported.Judicial Magistrate First Class Rohit Kumar of Rohini Courts on Friday granted bail to one Nitin Soni in a case pertaining to a property dispute. It is alleged that Soni and his wife illegally took possession of his mother's property after breaking the lock and attacking her with a rod.advertisementReciting his own poetry in the order titled 'Jang Milkiyat', the judge said, "Milkiyat ki jang mein na jaane kitne afsaane hue, kuch hi apne the, vo bhi ab begaane hue. Banke Krishna, ab kisi ko aana hoga, sadte, ladte, bigadte rishhton ko bachaana hoga. Na jaane ye jang aur kitni Mahabharat laayegi, aakhir kitno ko salaakhon tak le jaayegi. (In the battle over inheritance, countless tales have unfolded. The few who were our own have now turned into strangers. Someone must now come, like Krishna once did, To save these rotting, fighting and breaking relationships. Who knows how many more Mahabharats this battle will bring, and how many more it will drag behind bars.)"
"Bankar beti, rishto ko bachaana hoga, sabhi naato ko nibhana hoga. Kya rakkha hai is jang mein koi bataayega? Aakhir is dharti se kaun kya hi le jaayega, (Becoming a daughter, one must now protect these bonds and uphold all these relationships with care. What is there really to gain in this battle, can someone say? After all, what will anyone truly take from this Earth when they go?)" he added.Soni was arrested on July 12. According to the Delhi Police's response, a court had earlier issued a direction regarding possession of the disputed property in favour of his mother, who is the complainant, LiveLaw reported. The police noted there had been multiple PCR calls, complaints and non-cognisable reports (NCRs) filed against Soni. They also said that preventive action had previously been taken against him. However, Soni's lawyer argued that it wasn't a case of illegal possession, claiming that his mother had voluntarily handed over possession of the property to him based on an oral agreement. It was further submitted that some pictures existed showing Soni and his family residing on the property prior to July 10.The counsel also questioned why, if Soni's possession was indeed illegal, no contempt or eviction proceedings were initiated against him, according to LiveLaw.In response, the prosecution maintained that Soni had unlawfully taken possession of the complainant's property after its preparation and handover. It asserted that even if the complainant was physically dispossessed, she remained in constructive possession. When specifically questioned by the court, the Investigating Officer (IO) admitted that no CCTV footage or video evidence had been recovered to show that Soni had broken into or entered the property on or before July 10."After considering the facts and circumstances of the case, the court is inclined to grant bail to the accused, Nitin Soni," judge Kumar was quoted by LiveLaw as saying.- Ends

Three pose as CBI officers to loot jewelery, cash worth lakhs from Delhi businessman

NEW DELHI: In a heist inspired by a Bollywood thriller, a woman, a shopkeeper, and an unemployed man posed as CBI officers and raided a businessman's house in north Delhi, making off with cash and jewellery worth lakhs of rupees. The three were held after a week-long operation that took Delhi Police teams to Haridwar and Mussoorie, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Raja Banthia said. According to police, the 22-year-old woman is a distant relative of the victim and was aware of the cash and jewellery kept at his Wazirabad house. She roped in Keshav Prasad, 28, who runs a food supplement store in Haridwar, and Vivek Singh, 20, an unemployed student from Delhi's Johripur area, to hatch the plan. "On the evening of July 10, the trio knocked on the door of the complainant's house. Dressed in white shirts and black trousers with masks covering their faces, they introduced themselves as CBI officials from the Okhla branch," said the DCP. They claimed to be acting on an FIR and said that they had a warrant to search the house. When the family asked to see the document, they trio rebuked them and demanded cooperation.

Rs 2 Crore In Bank, Mini Mansion In Delhi: "Drug Queen's" Empire Falls

New Delhi: Delhi Police have seized properties worth approximately Rs 4 crore linked to an alleged drug syndicate led by a woman identified as Kusum, a long-time resident of the Sultanpuri area in North-West Delhi. Kusum, referred to by officials as the "drug queen" of Sultanpuri, is currently missing. She has been untraceable since March, when a police raid on her residence led to the arrest of her son and the recovery of large quantities of drugs and cash. According to police sources, a total of eight immovable properties have been seized. Seven of these are located within Sultanpuri itself, while the eighth is in Rohini's Sector 24. Police records reveal that Kusum is already facing 12 cases registered under the NDPS Act. According to sources, she is the central figure in an illicit drug supply chain that operated in North-West Delhi, especially in Sultanpuri. During the March raid, Kusum's son, Amit, was arrested. From the premises, officers recovered 550 packets of heroin, a stash of tramadol tablets -- commonly misused as a narcotic painkiller -- Rs 14 lakh in cash, and a Mahindra Scorpio SUV. The recovery, police believe, offered leads into the scale of the operation. Following this the bank transactions of Kusum's two daughters were probed. The probe revealed deposits totalling approximately Rs 2 crore over the past 18 months. What drew attention was thousands of small-value deposits, most ranging between Rs 2,000 and Rs 5,000, into multiple bank accounts. In the first half of this year alone, approximately Rs 70 lakh was deposited across various accounts linked to the daughters. Police have confirmed that neither of the two was able to offer a credible explanation for the sources of these funds. Another discovery was of a building in Sultanpuri. According to sources, the structure had been assembled by knocking down the interior walls of four separate housing units, creating a single, four-storey complex. From the outside, the homes appeared unremarkable. Internally, however, they had been connected to form what police described as a "mini-mansion". Delhi Police have formally written to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) with details about the building. An MCD departmental review of the building's status and approvals is expected shortly.
