Delhi Minister Sirsa inaugurates newly constructed road in Rajouri garden

India Gazette11 hours ago
New Delhi [India], July 5 (ANI): Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Saturday inaugurated the newly constructed road in the Rajouri Garden constituency.
'The people in Rajouri have been suffering from the problem of water supply... no work has been done here in the last five years. The government's mission is to replace the roads, streets, sewage lines...' Sirsa said speaking to the reporters here.
Earlier on July 2, Sirsa in a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar alleged that Aam Aadmi Party was openly supporting llegal Rohingya & Bangladeshi immigrants.
'From legitimising encroachments to provoking anarchy, Arvind Kejriwal is playing with Delhi's safety and India's sovereignty,' Sirsa wrote on X, sharing the letter.
In his letter, Manjinder Sirsa said that the efforts of the Aam Aadmi Party to protect illegal immigrants and thus attack this very idea of Citizenship are nothing but a travesty of the Constitution of India and a betrayal of the hopes and aspirations of the citizens of this great nation.
'As proof of my statement, I would like to draw your attention to the activity of the AAP, which recently organised a protest at Jantar Mantar in open support of illegal Rohingya and Bangladeshi Muslims residing in Delhi, opposing all lawful efforts to identify and remove such illegal entrants from the national capital. This action has caused serious concern among responsible citizens,' Sirsa said.
He alleged further that by backing these illegal Rohingya and Bangladeshi Muslims, the AAP is deliberately obstructing lawful procedures meant to protect national security, internal security and the Constitution.
'It is also endangering the safety and dignity of Delhi's daughters and women. Their actions seem more focused on political appeasement and show their total disregard for the Constitution of India and are devoid of even an iota of care towards the true citizens of our great country,' Manjinder Sirsa said.
'It is also important to highlight that Arvind Kejriwal himself had earlier facilitated these illegal settlements by providing them with jhuggis and promising Rs 10,000 per month assistance. Now, when steps are being taken to remove these unauthorised occupants, AAP is once again creating a narrative in their favour, against the interest of real residents of Delhi and citizens of this country,' Sirsa said in his letter to the Election Commission.
Sirsa urged the CEC Gyanesh Kumar to take immediate cognisance of AAP's repeated and deliberate violations.
'Therefore, I urge the Election Commission of India to take immediate cognisance of these repeated and deliberate violations and initiate steps against the Aam Aadmi Party under provisions applicable to political parties promoting divisiveness, threatening national unity, encouraging illegal activities, and engaging in unconstitutional activities,' the Delhi Minister said. CJI Gavai formally launches facility: Bombay HC to live-stream court proceedings from tomorrow

THE BOMBAY High Court will begin live-streaming of court proceedings from Monday (July 7), with a formal launch done by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Bhushan Gavai in Mumbai on Saturday. Initially, five benches of the HC will live-stream their proceedings — Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Sandeep Marne; Justice Revati Mohite-Dere and Justice Dr Neela Gokhale; Justice M S Sonak and Justice Jitendra Jain; Justice Ravindra Ghuge and Justice Gautam Ankhad; and Justice A S Gadkari & Justice Rajesh S Patil. The rules regarding live-streaming state that no person including print, electronic media and social media platforms, shall record or disseminate the proceedings or reproduce, upload, modify, record or transcribe the proceedings in any form. It further states that the use of the recordings in their original form may be permitted by the court to disseminate news and for training, academic and educational purposes. The state government had on July 1 issued the notification about the live-streaming with detailed rules on the relaying of proceedings and recordings. Live-streaming of court proceedings was given a go-ahead after a ruling by the Supreme Court in 2018, as a step towards transparency. Apart from the SC, a few other Hcs including Karnataka, Gujarat and Odisha, have live-streaming facility. CJI Gavai, who is in the city, also launched free WiFi and Internet facilities in the HC. Speaking at a felicitation ceremony organised for him at the HC, CJI Gavai spoke of his experiences as a lawyer and judge in the HC, noting that he is currently the second eldest person in the Indian judiciary. He recalled deciding on PILs towards societal justice. 'When we interpret the laws and the Constitution, it must be in the context with what are the problems of the present generation. The interpretation should be pragmatic, one that suits the needs of the society,' he said. The CJI also cautioned about receiving complaints about 'rude behaviour' of some colleagues. He said that the opportunity to serve as a judge is not a '10 am to 5 pm job', but one to serve the society and the nation. 'Therefore, what is required is a commitment, a dedication to the cause of justice. By behaving rudely with the lawyers or calling officers to the court now and then, hardly serves any purpose,' CJI Gavai said. He also said that while he would not want to go into the specifics, he has also received news about some judges sitting in court as 'part-time' judges. 'If you have taken a call to answer this august office, then sitting for one hour in the first half, and one hour in the second half, belittles your oath,' he said, adding that he welcomed the inauguration of the live-streaming. He also said that nothing should be done to bring disrepute to the institution of judiciary. Gavai, who was sworn in on May 14 and has a six-month tenure till November, also said that he will try to discharge his responsibilities to the best of his abilities. 'I will not give any interviews or any promises. I have seen many instances of giving long interviews in the beginning of career and making huge promises at the end of tenure. I do not want to do that. I can only say that I will stick to the oath and discharge my responsibilities to the best of my abilities,' he said. He also spoke of vacancies. In the evening, CJI Gavai also attended a felicitation programme, marking 161 years of the Advocates Association of Western India, with the launch of a coffee table book, titled Nyay Bhushan.

The PIL contends that if not quashed the ECI's order could arbitrarily and without due process disenfranchise lakhs of voters, undermining free and fair elections. The plea further argues that the stringent documentation requirements, absence of adequate procedural safeguards, and the unreasonably short timeline for conducting this special revision in Bihar are likely to result in the wrongful deletion of genuine voters from the rolls, effectively denying them their right to plea further argues that by issuing the said order, the ECI has shifted the responsibility of proving eligibility to be on the electoral rolls from the State to individual petitioner has also submitted that by excluding common identification documents like Aadhaar and ration cards, the process disproportionately impacts marginalised communities and the poor, making them more susceptible to being left the requirement under the SIR process for voters to furnish documents not only to prove their own citizenship but also that of their parents violates Article 326, the PIL states.
