EXCLUSIVE Explosive feud between Cher and her son's wife... as heartbreaking reason for his overdose is revealed
Insiders have laid bare the politics behind the drama, which they claim is tearing the family apart.
Allman is currently divorcing his wife, Marieangela 'Queenie' King, who has supported him throughout multiple legal battles.
The pop icon is already blaming 'Marieangela like she always does when things go wrong', an inside source, who accused Cher of never taking 'responsibility', told the Daily Mail.
Allman, 48, the son of Cher, 79, and her second husband, the late guitarist Gregg Allman, has struggled with addiction for many years. Cher is also mother to trans son Chaz Bono, 56, from her first marriage to Sonny Bono.
His reported overdose and hospitalization comes only a month after the musician appeared to hit rock bottom. In exclusive footage obtained by the Daily Mail, a zombie-like Allman was seen staggering outside the star-studded Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles.
'His overdose was ignited by the pain of Father's Day because he loved his dad more than anything on earth and he was the only person who he felt he could trust,' the insider told the Daily Mail.
A source told TMZ that the performer's youngest child 'was rushed to the hospital in Joshua Tree, California, after overdosing earlier Saturday morning'. It remained unknown what drugs were involved but that he was 'receiving the best care possible'.
Allman has returned to living at the famed Chateau Marmont, where he was found passed out in 2023 - a moment that prompted Cher to step in.
He had previously been locked in a court battle with his mother after she tried, and failed, to secure a conservatorship.
This is just the latest development in a years-long bitter feud between Cher and King. It reportedly began when King and Allman became engaged in December 2013. At the time, Cher, the Believe hitmaker, allegedly refused to congratulate the couple.
According to a source: 'Elijah and Cher ended up in a legal battle when she tried to get a conservatorship over him in court, claiming he wasn't capable of making his own decisions.
'From the beginning, she had major issues with Marieangela and did everything she could to come between them, even secretly sending Elijah to a facility in Mexico without telling anyone.
'He was in terrible shape, and it was Marieangela who had to fly down to save him.'
Speaking to the Daily Mail in February 2014, Allman said of the dynamic: 'You've got two strong women, two big bulls in the pen. I think there's a respect and I think they butt heads a little bit.'
Cher is 'already blaming Elijah's wife, Marieangela [King], like she always does when things go wrong', said a source who accused the pop icon of never taking 'responsibility'
Ever since the Mexico incident, Cher and Marieangela's issues have frequently come to a head, with the insider confirming that 'their relationship only got more strained after that'.
Marieangela, 37, opposed the conservatorship, and stood by her husband's side during the ensuing messy public dispute.
The couple have long had a tumultuous relationship. King filed for divorce from Allman on April 7, citing 'irreconcilable differences', and seeking $6,000 a month in spousal support and 'exclusive use of [their] 2017 Toyota Prius', according to court documents previously seen by the Daily Mail.
Cher and her troubled son have been embroiled in their own legal battle, with 'long-standing tension over Elijah's inheritance and how much control Cher has tried to keep over his finances', the insider said.
She had argued in her petition to the court that Elijah's drug addiction made him unable to manage his trust fund. The Oscar winner filed for a temporary sole conservatorship over his finances in 2023, arguing that he suffered from 'severe mental health and substance abuse issues', but ultimately withdrew the petition in September 2024.
'Elijah was doing better for a while, trying to get clean and take back his independence but he became more isolated over time,' our source said.
In a 2014 interview, Allman revealed he began using drugs, like marijuana and ecstasy, at the age of 11, and said he'd been near to overdosing several times.
'I [was] just looking to escape all the things in my past and, that's when you turn to those kind of drugs, you know heroin and opiates,' he told ET. '[Heroin] kind of saved me… If I didn't have that at that point, I don't know what I would have done… You may jump off a bridge. If you can only just go through that time period and live through it and then get help.'
Allman also revealed that he had 'some close calls and some moments of really feeling at the edge of mortality'.
Now, it appears that he is struggling again.
'The people who truly cared, especially Marieangela, were pushed out,' the insider said, 'and when things got bad again, he had no one left to turn to.'
The Daily Mail reached out to a representative for Cher but has received no response.

Post Malone enjoys a legal victory in complicated child custody case with ex-fiancee Jamie Park
Post Malone 's ex-fiancée Hee Sung 'Jamie' Park filed to dismiss their child custody case in Los Angeles this week. The dismissal is considered a win for Post as California allows for higher payments for child support, but their legal battle is still ongoing. The rapper-turned-country star, 30, and Hee Sung welcomed their daughter in 2022. The couple split in November 2024 after their daughter turned two with Post and Park filing custody petitions in the states of Utah and California, respectively. This comes just weeks after his split from his girlfriend Christy Lee following their whirlwind romance on the heels of his baby mama breakup. The custody battle will continue in Utah, where Post filed because that is where he had been splitting 50/50 custody with his ex as a hands-on dad, per TMZ. That's where Park had been living before she moved to California at the beginning of the year. The latest update comes a little over two months since the musician submitted an emotional declaration in court in an effort to convince a Los Angeles judge to throw out his ex's custody lawsuit in California. In Park's original filing, she originally asked for joint legal custody and visitation for the rapper but she wanted primary physical custody. Back in May, the Grammy-nominated artist, whose weight loss has been a topic of discussion among fans, filed for her case to be tossed when he told the court the child's mother only filed in Los Angeles for perceived strategic advantages among the court battle. His attorney Laura Wasser pointed out to the court that the female child already has a number of essential ties to Utah. They include her nanny, pediatrician, as well as classes she's been enrolled in for music, physical education and swimming, the attorney told the court in legal docs. In Park's legal documents, submitted last month to the Los Angeles Superior Court's family law division, she refers to her and Post's daughter simply as DDP. The two-year-old's mother filed for full physical custody, but she only requested joint legal custody and is also open to giving Post visitation rights, aka 'parenting time.' Park, who reportedly split from Post near the end of 2024, alleged in her new legal documents that DDP has lived with her since November, via TMZ. Her court filing, in which she demands that her ex cover her legal costs, also revealed that their daughter was born in May 2022. As for child support, she said: 'The court may make orders for support of the children and issue an earnings assignment without further notice to either party.' Post reportedly recently submitted sealed custody documents of his own in Utah, where he keeps his primary residence, but he has yet to give a response to Park's new filing.

Doctor who gave Matthew Perry ketamine and called him 'a moron' pleads guilty to role in his death
The doctor who gave actor Matthew Perry doses of ketamine before he overdosed and drowned in the hot tub of his LA home has pleaded guilty to playing a role in his death. Dr. Salvador Plasencia appeared in federal court on Wednesday and was mostly quiet as the judge went over the plea agreement for nearly an hour. Plasencia, who was often called 'Dr. P', was facing in a potential 40-year prison sentence had he not taken the plea deal. He is expected to return to court on December 3 for sentencing and will face up to 10 years in federal prison. When asked by the judge if he and his lawyers had considered all the possibilities of pleas and sentencing in the case, the 43-year-old physician replied, 'They've considered everything.' He had previously pleaded not guilty, but in exchange for the guilty pleas prosecutors have agreed to drop three additional counts of distribution of ketamine and two counts of falsifying records. The Santa Monica physician is the fourth person who was indicted on criminal charges in connection to the Friends' star's death on Oct. 28, 2023. Jasveen Sangha, was known to her customers as the 'Ketamine Queen', is the only defendant who has not decided to take a plea deal in connection to the actor's death. She is slated to return to court August 19. Sangha remains in custody in Los Angeles awaiting trial. Others who have plead guilty include Perry's assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, who discovered the actor's lifeless body in his hot tub. The LA County Medical Examiner's Office determined that the actor — who had battled substance abuse issues throughout his life — died of 'acute effects of ketamine.' Perry had been receiving ketamine infusion therapy as treatment for his depression, but the last session was a week and a half before he died, the medical examiner determined. Ketamine is only in your system for three to four hours, which means it did not lead directly to his death. 'At the high levels of ketamine found in his postmortem blood specimens, the main lethal effects would be from both cardiovascular overstimulation and respiratory depression,' the medical examiner, Raffi Djabourian, concluded. Two others — physician Mark Chavez, of San Diego and Erik Fleming, 54, of Hawthorne — also plead guilty to conspiracy to distribute ketamine causing death. In his plea agreement, Plasencia admitted he met Perry through another patient connected him with Perry. He admitted supplying Perry with 20 vials of ketamine totaling 100 mg of the drug, along with ketamine lozenges and syringes about a month before the actor's death. He also admitted enlisting Dr. Chavez, who supplied the drugs. In court documents, Plasencia texted Chavez: 'I wonder how much this moron will pay,' referring to Perry. Federal prosecutors said Plasencia sold the drugs to the actor for $4,500. He also told Chavez to keep the supplies coming so they could become the actor's 'go-to'. Perry - who had long struggled with addiction and staying sober - told Iwamasa to procure illegal drugs for him in late September 2023. Iwamasa allegedly obtained the ketamine he gave to Perry from Plasencia and Fleming. The assistant reportedly met with Plasencia at least seven times between September 30 and October 28, 2023. On the day of his death, Perry reportedly told Iwamasa to 'shoot me up with a big one,' and was injected with ketamine by the assistant three times, according to his plea agreement. Prosecutors allege Iwamasa also began obtaining ketamine for Perry from Fleming and Sangha beginning in mid-October 2023. After discussing prices with Iwamasa, Fleming allegedly coordinated the drug sales with Sangha, and brought cash from Iwamasa to Sangha's stash house in North Hollywood. On October 24, 2023, while waiting for Sangha's ketamine to arrive, In October 24, 2023, Fleming allegedly told Iwamasa that the ketamine was 'on its way to our girl,' referring to Sangha.
