Woman killed after being hit by truck Gurnee, Illinois, police say
Around 8 p.m., Gurnee police officers arrived at the scene near Delany Road and Sunset Avenue involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, a 33-year-old woman, was found unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash was believed to be a hit-and-run, but it was then revealed that the driver of a Ford E450 truck pulled off into a nearby business immediately after the crash. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The roadway was closed for several hours for investigation.
An autopsy for the pedestrian is scheduled for Thursday with the Lake County Coroner's Office.
Investigation into the crash remains ongoing. Police said they will release additional information as it becomes available.
The Major Crash Assistance Team assisted in the investigation.

Elderly man walking in Morton Grove fatally struck by SUV in hit-and-run
A person of interest has been identified in connection with fleeing the scene of a fatal accident where an elderly male pedestrian was struck and killed by an SUV early Thursday morning while crossing a street in Morton Grove, according to police. In a news release, police say that officers responded at around 7:30 a.m. Thursday to the 6700 block of Beckwith Street on a call of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. According to the release, the man struck was identified as a 73-year-old Morton Grove resident who was crossing the street at Beckwith and Neenah Avenue when he was hit by a tan Chevy Equinox. The driver of the SUV fled the scene, but his vehicle was located 'in the vicinity with no driver present.' The elderly man, who has not been further identified by authorities, was transported by ambulance to Lutheran General Hospital in nearby Park Ridge. He was pronounced dead about an hour later, the release states. About three hours after the initial call to the scene, Morton Grove police announced that a person of interest had been identified. No information was provided about the individual, and it was not immediately clear if they were in police custody. Officials ID victim of fatal crash on US 93
May 22—Authorities on Thursday identified the victim of a deadly May 17 crash in Lake County. Elmo resident Sunshine Swalley, 22, was killed in the collision on U.S. 93 near Big Arm, according to Lake County Sheriff Don Bell. According to the Highway Patrol crash report, Swalley was driving a Jeep Wrangler northbound on U.S. 93 at about 2:38 a.m. when she entered the southbound lane and collided head-on with a tanker trailer driven by a 50-year-old Kalispell man. Both vehicles caught fire and temporarily blocked the highway. Swalley died at the scene and the tanker driver was transported to a hospital with injuries. The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by Montana Highway Patrol and the Lake County Coroner's Office. Road conditions were wet at the time of the crash, according to the Highway Patrol report.

Police: South Bend teen, 17, suspect in Gary homicide
After an argument broke out in a gray Ford Fusion, a 17-year-old teen from South Bend fatally shot a Gary man inside the vehicle, Gary Police said Monday. Officers responded at 1:39 a.m. Monday to 24th Avenue and Maryland Street for a shots fired call. Several people were standing around the victim, who was motionless and lying on the ground. The Lake County Coroner's Office identified him as Nadan Stallings, 21. His death was ruled a homicide. Toxicology tests and an autopsy are pending. Witnesses said a group had headed to Gary from Michigan City to smoke marijuana with a friend. After the shooting, the suspect ran but returned to the scene telling police he was shot, too. He was taken to the hospital, Gary Police Capt. Sam Roberts said in a release. Stallings was transported to Methodist Hospitals Northlake where he was pronounced dead.
