Billionaire Gautam Adani's Group, mining mogul Anil Agarwal's Vedanta , and Dalmia Bharat Cement have submitted their resolution plans to acquire Jaiprakash Associates through an insolvency process , according to sources.Jaypee Infratech, which has been acquired by Mumbai-based Suraksha Group, has also submitted the bid, they added.Baba Ramdev-led Patanjali Ayurved, however, has not submitted the resolution plan after showing initial interest, sources said.In April, as many as 25 companies showed interest in acquiring Jaiprakash Associates Ltd (JAL).Earlier this month, lenders of JAL extended the deadline for submission of resolution plans to June 24 on request of prospective bidders.JAL -- which has business interests spanning real estate, cement manufacturing, hospitality, and engineering & construction -- was admitted into the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) through the National Company Law Tribunal, Allahabad Bench, order dated June 3, 2024.According to sources, Adani group firm Adani Enterprises, Vedanta , Jaypee Infratech and Dalmia Bharat Cement have submitted their resolution plans for JAL.The spokespersons of these entities declined to comment.Other companies, which submitted EOIs in April, included Torrent Power, GMR Business & Consultancy LLP, Jindal India Power, Jindal Power Ltd, Kotak Alternate Asset Managers Ltd, PNC Infratech, and Oberoi Realty.Authum Investment undefined Consortium of Winro Commercial (India) and Parakh Advisors; Dickey Asset Management; India Opportunities XII Investments; J C Flowers Asset Reconstruction; Jaithari Thermal Power; Jakson Ltd; Oriental Structural Engineers; Paschim Sagar Properties; Rashmi Metaliks; Sherisha Technologies; Sigma Corporation (India) Ltd; and Winchain Infrastructures also showed initial interest.JAL was taken to insolvency proceedings after the conglomerate defaulted on payment of loans.Creditors are claiming a total of a staggering Rs 57,185 crore.The National Asset Reconstruction Company Ltd (NARCL) leads the list of claimants after acquiring the stressed JAL loans from a consortium of lenders headed by the State Bank of India (SBI).JAL has major real estate projects like Jaypee Greens in Greater Noida, a part of Jaypee Greens Wishtown in Noida (both on the outskirts of the national capital), and Jaypee International Sports City, strategically located near the upcoming Jewar International Airport.It also has three commercial/industrial office spaces in Delhi-NCR, while its hotel division has five properties in Delhi-NCR, Mussoorie, and Agra.JAL has four cement plants in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh and a few leased limestone mines in Madhya Pradesh. The cement plants, however, are non-operational.It also has investments in subsidiaries, including Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd, Yamuna Expressway Tolling Ltd, Jaypee Infrastructure Development Ltd and several other companies.Jaypee Group's Jaypee Infratech has already been acquired by Mumbai-based Suraksha Group through an insolvency process. Suraksha Group has to complete various stalled projects comprising around 20,000 apartments in Noida and Greater Noida.

Union minister applauds Sarhad Dairy's salt cooperative
Vadodara: Union minister for cooperation on Sunday applauded Kutch-based Sarhad Dairy for registering the first cooperative for salt production. Today, that gap has been filled," Shah said while addressing a gathering a function in Anand that marked the 4th Foundation Day of the ministry of cooperation. During the function, Shah launched a series of projects. Lauding the registration of Gujarat's first cooperative society in salt production, Shah acknowledged the role played by Valamji Humbal, chairman of Sarhad Dairy and also vice chairman of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) that markets products under the brand Amul. The salt cooperative is expected to unite small 'agariyas' — a community engaged in traditional salt farming practices — on a common platform. "The profit for producing salt will now go to the agariyas (salt pan workers)," Shah said, adding that it will help become a model for small salt producers. Talking to TOI, Humbal said that the salt co-operative has been registered under the name of Shri Kutch District Coastal Area Salt Producers and Sales Co-operative Society Limited under the Gujarat Co-operative Societies Act last month. "We plan to procure salt from the 'agariyas', process it, and sell it through GCMMF under the brand name Amul," Humbal told TOI, adding that to begin with, Rs 15 crore investment will be required for processing the salt procured from the 'agariyas'. "There are nearly 5,000 'agariyas' in Kutch alone who produce salt on land of ten or more acres. This initiative is expected to increase their income by three to fourfold," he said, adding that Kutch alone accounts for nearly 35% of India's total salt production. Curry clash: Swagath restaurants slug it out over trademark in Delhi high court
Hyderabad: A trademark infringement battle between Telangana-based hotel chain M/s Hotel Swagath and a Delhi-based hotel chain named Swagath has reached the Delhi high court, with each side staking claim to the name. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Justice Amit Bansal of the Delhi high court, who heard the matter on July 4, refused to grant interim relief to the latter, and issued notices to both parties. The judge further posted the matter for hearing on interim relief to August 27. The case was filed by the Delhi-based Swagath Group seeking an injunction against the use of the name 'Swagath' and a rectification petition seeking cancellation of the trademark . During the hearing, the court allowed the Delhi-based group's counsel to file additional documents, including clear or translated copies of some documents, with a direction to provide legible copies within four weeks. Reply sought in 30 days In response, counsels for Hyderabad's Hotel Swagath accepted the court summons and waived the requirement for formal service, following which the court directed them to file a detailed written statement and reply to the petition within 30 days, along with an affidavit on document admission or denial. The court also directed both parties to submit their original documents or disclose sources for any external evidence they intend to rely upon. During the hearing, senior counsel Resu Mahender Reddy and counsel Shravanth Shankar, appearing for Hyderabad's Hotel Swagath, informed the court of prior use of the trademark, its valid registration, and the goodwill and large-scale operations it has built over the years. Hotel Swagath is a prominent chain with 34 years in the industry, operating since 1991 across Telangana. The chain operates 11 hotels under the name 'Swagath' and is the registered proprietor of trademark 'Swagath' under Class 43 since 2017, covering hotels, bars and restaurants, banquet halls, and related services, they informed the court. The chain previously operated a hotel under the name Swagath in Dubai for three years.
