Starting next season, Premier League broadcasts will get up close and personal, with substituted players facing live touchline interviews during matches and cameras sneaking into dressing rooms for exclusive glimpses.

This bold move, part of a massive $8.4 billion four-year TV deal, aims to deepen fan engagement. Sky Sports and TNT Sports will air up to 270 live games annually, amplifying the drama say premierleague.com.
Imagine the intensity: a player, fresh off the pitch, sweat dripping, answering questions as the game roars on. Substituted players will have a brief cool-down before facing the mic, ensuring they're composed but candid say the BBC. This American-style approach, common in sports like the NFL, is a first for UK football.
Will we see dressing room scenes that Ted Lasso made famous?
Camera operators will also dart onto the pitch for close-ups of goal celebrations, capturing raw emotion in real time. Dressing room access, however, comes with strict limits, no filming during team talks, preserving tactical secrecy. These changes, first reported by The Telegraph, promise to redefine how fans experience the game.

The Premier League's new TV mega-deal, fuels these innovations. Sky Sports and TNT Sports will dominate live coverage, while the BBC retains its iconic Match of the Day highlights (albeit without Gary Lineker), Football Focus, and enhanced digital rights for online platforms. Details on the frequency of touchline interviews and which matches they'll feature remain under wraps.

This shift has sparked debate. Some fans crave the raw access, while others worry it could distract players or reveal too much. The Premier League insists the changes balance entertainment with respect for the game's integrity.
Team tactics will not be aired - but might we catch some Roy Kent language?
Clubs will need to adapt to this new spotlight. Dressing room footage, though restricted, could offer fans a rare peek into pre- and post-match moments, humanizing the stars. Touchline interviews might reveal unfiltered emotions, from frustration to triumph, straight from the players' mouths.

Substitute interviews are going to be really unpredictable, a bit like the following quote maybe?
Soccer People say funny stuff...'You could fill two internets with what I don't know about football.' Ted Lasso.
The Premier League is betting big on fan engagement, drawing inspiration from American sports' in-your-face coverage. Yet, with such unprecedented access, the line between immersion and intrusion is razor-thin. Will players embrace the mic or shy away?
These changes mark a new era for Premier League broadcasts, blending high-stakes action with intimate storytelling. Fans will feel closer to the game than ever, but the success of this experiment hinges on execution and plenty of bleep-outs and blooper reels.

Osimhen or Isak? Gags and Grizz Break Down the Options
Liverpool Transfer Plans Heating Up: Isak, Osimhen and Ekitike in Focus as Gags and Grizz Weigh In As Liverpool navigate their most pivotal transfer window in years, the conversation around who leads the line next season is intensifying. On the latest episode of Chat G & G, Gags Tandon and Grizz Khan dived deep into the club's plans, weighing up the merits and possibilities of high-profile strikers Alexander Isak, Victor Osimhen and Hugo Ekitike. Isak: The Centrepiece of Liverpool's Summer? 'Isak is the one,' said Gags, emphatically backing the Swedish forward. 'If we do get him, that's the banger.' Grizz was equally enthused by Liverpool's intent. 'This is world record bid territory. We're prepared to make that move,' he revealed. Both agreed that Liverpool are lining up a statement signing and are ready to strike—if Newcastle United open the door. Advertisement However, Grizz raised a cautionary note on timing: 'If Isak says, 'Let me give Newcastle a Champions League run-out,' it's over. Liverpool won't wait. Not at 28.' Gags added, 'This is now or never. It's very clear we've got plans B and C, but Isak is the gem.' Osimhen: The Certified Goal Machine While Isak may be the club's top priority, the discussion pivoted compellingly to Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. Grizz labelled him 'the most certified goalscorer available right now,' while Gags passionately defended the Nigerian's character and resilience. 'People talk about his attitude, but if you've been racially abused by your own club's social media, would you just take it?' Gags said. 'Victor Osimhen is a lion, a killer. Why wouldn't you want someone with that fire in him?' Advertisement If Liverpool cannot prise Isak away from St James' Park, Osimhen may become more than just an alternative. He fits the bill physically, technically and mentally, and Grizz believes he could be 'absolutely electric' with the likes of Salah and Diaz around him. Ekitike: Raw Talent or Future Star? The wildcard in the conversation was Hugo Ekitike. While less experienced than the others, the former PSG striker was cited by Gags as 'one for the future.' He noted Liverpool's ability to scout talent just before it explodes: 'They want to go for the real deal, but if that doesn't happen, they go for the next best… younger, more room to grow.' Grizz, however, wasn't sold on Ekitike as a standalone solution. 'We're not bringing in two number nines. If we go for Ekitike, it cannot be at the expense of a proven starter.' Ruthless Rebuild Under Slot What stood out most in this Chat G & G instalment was the club's intent to act like a heavyweight in the market. 'This is what you call succession planning, future-proofing for the next four or five years,' Gags declared. 'We've got the funds, the project and the vision. The only thing left is the execution.' Advertisement Grizz, while usually measured, agreed: 'We've said for years, 'When will we act like a big club?' The time is now.' As the Liverpool faithful await official movement, the names of Isak, Osimhen and Ekitike remain at the heart of a potential frontline evolution. And if Gags and Grizz are right, the Reds aren't just buying players this summer—they're building a new identity.

'My bridesmaid got engaged on my wedding day - I was absolutely gobsmacked'
A woman who called off her wedding due to a cheating partner was left 'gobsmacked' when her best friend got engaged on what was meant to be her 'big day'. She revealed it had happened in Italy - where the nuptials were due to take place - as some of the would-be guests had decided to fly over anyway due to everything being 'booked and paid for'. While she was pleased for her pal, who had been given a bridesmaid role, she couldn't help that feel the timing was 'insensitive'. READ MORE: Calls for UK Government to issue 'WW3 survival guide' as expert shares list of essential supplies The Mumsnet user shared her feelings on the matter in a post titled 'Bridesmaid got engaged on my wedding day...' The full post read: "I had to cancel my wedding four months ago due to my partner cheating with numerous women. "My wedding should have been Saturday just gone in Italy. Some of the wedding party decided to go ahead with the weekend anyway as it was all booked and paid for (flights, Airbnbs, etc), which I was fine with as they has paid a big expense to attend. "My best friend (and bridesmaid) was one of these guests and she contacted me via Facetime yesterday to tell me her boyfriend proposed on Saturday (which should have been my wedding day) on the beach in Italy. "I was absolutely gobsmacked and replied saying I was pleased for her but I needed time to process the news and ended the call. "I am happy for her but I do feel it's totally insensitive and I'm in total shock. How do I move past this?" Many of the people who replied insisted the pal wasn't to blame. One said: "Was she supposed to turn him down because of the date? Or just not tell you? "I can understand why you'd be a bit sad about it, but she's not really done anything wrong." A second wrote: "Her boyfriend proposed. Should she have said no? "I'm not sure she could have done much if it was a surprise proposal. If you're upset speak to her fiancé." A third chipped in: "So she got engaged on a day that you're not even getting married on anymore? "I thought you were going to say they got down on one knee or something in the middle of the photo taking bit or something. Now THAT would have been a bit more unreasonable." A fourth reply read: "She didn't get engaged on your wedding day. "I'm sorry to hear that you've had such a tough time, but she really hasn't done anything wrong." Offering some advice, another said: "It's better if you stop thinking of it as your wedding day, as it wasn't. "You're better off without him, don't lose friends over him too." A more sympathetic forum user said: "Your friend should have shown more tact in how she told you. "She didn't need to FaceTime you to tell you this news given it was meant to have been your wedding day. "She could have sent you a brief message to update you so you could collect your thoughts and respond when you were ready, there's plenty of people who could have been able to take that call to celebrate the news in that moment and it shouldn't have been you. "I'm sorry for what you've been through. Well done for leaving the cheat before marriage."

Liverpool agree deal to sign World Cup winner
Liverpool are signing a World Champion after agreeing a deal to bring him to the club. It's been a busy summer for the Reds so far. Richard Hughes is working on reshaping Arne Slot's squad after a relatively quiet January and summer 2024 window. Advertisement This time around Liverpool have acted early to bring in Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, Armin Pecsi and Milos Kerkez. And there are plans to reinforce the squad even further. Liverpool want to bring in a no.9 and a centre-back. For those positions, the Reds have set their sights on Marc Guehi and a dream move for Alexander Isak. Whether those moves can be completed remains to be seen. Liverpool will certainly do everything in their power to make it happen. But Newcastle and Crystal Palace respectively will not want to give up their star players easily. It's now up to Hughes to once again do what he has done best. Advertisement One deal that Liverpool fans do not need to worry about is the signing of Freddie Woodman. Liverpool have confirmed on their official account that they have agreed a deal to sign Woodman on a free transfer upon the expiry of his contract at Preston North End. It's a transfer that has come out of nowhere with Woodman set to become Liverpool's fifth signing of the window. However, it's a transfer that is a major coup for the Reds once again. In Woodman they are bringing in someone who will be the club's third choice goalkeeper competing alongside Armin Pecsi for the spot. He's a player who is homegrown so he can be registered in the Champions League squad without taking a non-homegrown spot - this is not the case for Pecsi. Advertisement So that means Woodman frees up a non-homegrown spot and Liverpool can register him for the competition. But in general this is a goalkeeper with a solid CV for a 28-year-old. He is an England U21 international. He won the Championship Golden Glove award in 2021 and he's also a World Champion. Woodman lifted the U20 World Cup in South Korea with England back in 2017. He more than played his part in the tournament, making a crucial save in the final against Venezuela to ensure the Three Lions won the game 1-0. After the final whistle, Woodman was also awarded the Golden Glove award for the tournament.
