DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday said the state is witnessing a transformative phase of development, driven by rapid improvements in road infrastructure that are bridging not only geographical distances but also narrowing economic and social gaps between the hills and the plains.
CM Dhami highlighted that enhanced road connectivity is laying the foundation for a self-reliant Uttarakhand, advancing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a 'Developed India.'
In a post on X, CM Dhami wrote, "Continuous improvement in road connectivity in Uttarakhand has given a new pace to the state's development. Now, with the construction of all-weather roads, bypass routes, tunnels, and modern bridges, the distance between hills and plains is not just geographical but is also shrinking economically and socially."
"The unprecedented work done in the field of road connectivity is the foundation of a self-reliant Uttarakhand, a strong step towards realising the vision of a 'Developed India' as envisioned by the respected Prime Minister, Narendra Modi," the post added on X.
Meanwhile, on Monday, CM Dhami took part in an event at Parade Ground, Dehradun, to mark International Olympic Day. He honoured players who won international and national medals and administered the oath of sportsmanship.
He said that this day is dedicated to sportsmanship, unity, and peace. The Olympics are not just a competition but a symbol of dedication, sadhana, and national pride.
Chief Minister Dhami said extensive work has been done to promote sports in the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. India is now emerging as a winner, not just a participant. In the 2023 Asian Games, India performed best with 107 medals, while 126 players from India qualified for the 2020 Olympics, which shows the strength of the sports ecosystem in the country.
He further said that the state government is committed to developing Uttarakhand as 'Khel Bhumi'. In the recently held 38th National Games, the players of Uttarakhand made the state proud by winning 103 medals. He added that work is being done rapidly towards establishing 23 sports academies, the Sports University Haldwand the Women's Sports College Lohaghat in eight major cities of the state.

New Delhi [India], June 28 (ANI): Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi on Saturday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi calling for his 'attention' over the alleged irregularities in the implementation of the 'Assistance to Entrepreneur for Establishment of Commercial Dairy Farming (2022-23)' scheme in Assam, alleging that the ministers in the state cabinet were benefiting from it at the expense of genuine dairy farmers, thereby undermining the principles of 'fairness and transparency'. In his letter, the Congress MP alleged the inclusion of family members and associates of state ministers and MLAs as beneficiaries, while experienced dairy farmers, particularly from districts like Bongaigaon, have been reportedly excluded despite meeting eligibility criteria. 'I am writing to bring to your attention serious concerns regarding the implementation of the government supported scheme, 'Assistance to Entrepreneur for Establishment of Commercial Dairy Farming (2022-23)', in the state of Assam. This scheme receives substantial financial support from the Government of Assam. Each unit is eligible for up to Rs 50 lakh in subsidy. The objective is to promote genuine entrepreneurship in the dairy sector and strengthen milk production across the region. However, multiple reports and official documentation point to irregularities in the selection of beneficiaries,' the letter read. 'Several recipients of the scheme's benefits appear to be family members or associates of Ministers and MLAs in the state government, while long-standing dairy farmers, particularly in districts like Bongaigaon, have reportedly been overlooked despite having applied multiple times and fulfilling the eligibility requirements,' it added, highlighting a perceived bias in the selection process. The Congress leader further criticised Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for 'justifying' the inclusion of ministers' family members, describing it as an 'open endorsement of political favouritism' that fuels public outrage and undermines constitutional values. 'Equally alarming is the response from the Chief Minister of Assam, who chose to justify the inclusion of ministers' family members in the list of dairy scheme beneficiaries. This open endorsement of political favouritism has fuelled public outrage for undermining the constitutional values of equality and justice. It also reflects a serious breach of the oath of office, which obliges public representatives to act impartially and in the public interest, casting doubt on the state government's adherence to ethical governance and the rule of law,' it further stated. Gogoi also pointed to the Gorukhuti agricultural project, funded with over Rs 5.5 crore in public money, alleging that high-yield Gir cows procured from Gujarat were allocated to elected representatives, including the firms owned by the wives of several ministers and MLAs. 'Official records indicate that these were allocated to several elected representatives, including the firm owned by the wife of Jayanta Malla Baruah (Cabinet Minister & MLA, Nalbari), Bhupen Pegu (MLA, Jonai), Utpal Borah (MLA, Gohpur), Diganta Kalita (MLA, Kamalpur), and Dilip Saikia (Member of Parliament). The diversion of resources and livestock under a project supported by over Rs 5.5 crore in public funds compromises the very objective of Government programs designed to promote inclusive development,' Gogoi noted. The letter calls for a review and an enquiry into the matter, urging the Prime Minister to ensure justice and restore public trust. 'Sir, these actions go against the very principles of transparency, accountability, and equitable access. If politically-connected individuals are allowed to siphon off benefits meant for the poor, we risk alienating the very people these schemes are meant to uplift. In the interest of justice and public trust, I urge your office to instruct the government to initiate an enquiry into the matter at the earliest,' Gogoi concluded. (ANI)

Uttarakhand Govt working to promote green energy: Chief Minister Dhami
Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], June 28 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the All India Oil Sector Meet program organised at ONGC Community Centre, Dehradun on Saturday. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government is working to promote green energy with coordination in the economy, ecology and technology. 'Clean and green energy is being promoted in the state through the Chief Minister Solar Self-Employment Scheme. Hydroelectric projects like Tehri, Koteshwar, Pipalkoti, Lakhwar, and Vishnugad in the state are playing an important role in establishing Uttarakhand as an energy hub. There are many possibilities in the field of geothermal in the state, on which the state government is continuously working,' the Chief Minister said, according to a press release. The Chief Minister said that natural resources play an important role in taking any nation forward. Fuel, along with the development of the nation, also fulfills our daily needs. ONGC is playing an important role in India's energy security by contributing 70 per cent of the total production of crude oil and 84 per cent of the natural gas production in the country. The Chief Minister said that PM Modi has put the resolution of a self-reliant and developed India in front of people. The country is moving forward with the resolution of becoming a developed India by 2047. He said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, petroleum reserves have been established for the energy security of the country. 'Solar energy is also being promoted along with green hydrogen. Work is being done on many alternative sources of energy. All these efforts have made India capable in the field of energy,' he said. The Chief Minister said that many works have been done in the field of oil and natural gas. Gas pipelines are being expanded under One Nation, One Grid. The gas distribution system has been expanded and made more convenient than before. Bio CNG plants are being set up. Schemes like the Ujjwala have brought a revolution in society. Many policies have also been implemented for oil production. India has also increased investments in the oil and natural gas sector abroad, the Chief Minister said. "Brought gajar ka halwa, aam ras.... everyone liked it": Group Captain Shukla tells PM Modi from International Space Station
New Delhi [India], June 29 (ANI): Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, the first Indian to reach International Space Station, told Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday that he brought 'gajar ka halwa, moong dal ka halwa and aam ras' with him and other astronauts with him liked the Indian delicacies. The Prime Minister, who interacted with Group Captain Shukla, asked about his well-being and if he had tasted the 'Gajar ka halwa' he took with him. All of us had it together and everyone liked it,' Group Captain Shukla said. He said that India looks 'very big and grand' from the Space. When we see the Earth from outside, it seems that no border exists, no state exists, no countries exist. We all are part of humanity, and the Earth is our one home, and all of us are in it,' he said. Group Captain Shukla, who is second Indian to reach Space, said he feels very proud as India has reached the International Space Station and it collective achievement of the country. He said he is feeling very emotional and happy after the conversation with PM Modi. He urged youth to work hard, never stop trying and said 'the sky is never the limit'. 'I am feeling very emotional and happy after having a conversation with you and 140 crore Indians. I feel very proud as India has reached the International Space Station...I have learnt a lot in the entire journey. This is a collective achievement of the whole nation...I want to send a message to the younger generation that if you work hard, the future of the nation will be good. The sky is never the limit,' Group Captain Shukla said. 'The message I would like to give our young generation is that India has seen very bold and high dreams and to fulfil those dreams, we need all of you. There is no single way to success, but one thing that is common in every path is that you should never stop trying. If you adopt this basic mantra, then success may come today or tomorrow, but it will definitely come,' he added. With India's first human Space mission 'Gaganyaan' programme having entered its final phase, Shubhanshu Shukla said he is absorbing all the lessons and experience like a sponge. 'I am confident that these lessons will be highly valuable for us and that we will apply them effectively in the coming missions,' he said. 'India is progressing at a swift will have its stations in plays a significant role in maintaining calmness, as there are many stressful situations during training and launch. Mindfulness and meditation help a lot in making good decisions,' he added. PM Modi said that after the success of Chandrayaan, the youth of the country have developed a new interest towards science. 'There is a new enthusiasm to explore space... Today, children not only look at the sky, but they think they can reach it. This spirit is the base of our future space missions... We have to take Mission Gaganyan forward, we have to make our own space station, and we have to ensure that an Indian astronaut lands on the Moon,' PM Modi said. Group Captain Shukla said Indian scientists have prepared seven unique experiments for the mission. 'I can say with great pride that for the first time Indian scientists have prepared seven unique experiments which I have brought here to the station. The first experiment, which is scheduled today, is on stem experiment focuses on how we can prevent or delay muscle loss in space by taking a specific supplement. We will also see if these supplements can be beneficial for older people on Earth as well,' he said. (ANI)
