Date for Diaries!! RTE Nationwide will air its programme on all things Carnew on Friday 7th May. The episode will feature the Home First Knitters fabulous Map of Ireland, Carnew Community Care activities and services, the impressive work of the hard working Tidy Towns group and the history of Carnew.
Festival in a Van: Regular members are participating in the Songlines, Festival in a Van project. The project aims to enhance creative well-being by involving participants in music, song, and storytelling. Eithne and Eamonn have facilitated the group by encouraging reflection and sharing of experiences with songs, poetry, and stories. Carnew Community Care would like to invite you and your family members to attend a final session on Sunday, 18th May with day centre members, facilitators Eamonn and Eithne, and their portable stage in a van from approximately 11.30am to 12.30pm, followed by light refreshments andlots of chat.
Exercise classes for all levels continue with Yoga on a Monday afternoon, light exercise classes on Tues and Thurs , The Men on the Move programme, organised by Wicklow Local Sports Partnership, continues on Mondays from 11am until 11.45am

Public Meeting – Carnew Town Team
An open meeting will take place on Wednesday, 14th May at 8pm in St. Brigid's Hall, Carnew to discuss the formation of the Carnew Town Team.
This new community initiative aims to bring together local residents, businesses, and organisations to work collaboratively on enhancing and developing Carnew. All are welcome. Your ideas and input are important – come and have your say in shaping the future of our town.

Gymkhana
The Johnstown Coolgreany Gymkhana will take place this year on Monday 2nd June (bank holiday) in Merrigans field in Coolgreany. Please note that the Gymkhana has been brought forward this year, and the Committee are hoping for good weather and a large turnout on the day. Further information to follow in due course.

Tidy Towns
The Wexford Walking Trails are organising a walk in Gurteen/Ballyfad woods on 25th May everyone is welcome, time to be arranged later.
The Tidy Towns competition is now open and we are asking local residents to come out and help in their area, as the judges are always n the lookout for new projects and to help build up our points, lets get together for our village.
Coolgreany Tidy Towns would like you to put a date in your diary for our community BBQ which will take place on 21st June at 6 o'clock.
The committee are looking for helpers with the 2km clean-up, bags and gloves are available from the committee, please come out and help if you can.

A number of break-in have taken place in our general area, so please be alert for anything unusual happening locally. Also, there have been people spotted checking if cars are locked. Please make sure your vehicle is always locked and report anything unusual to the Gardai at Gorey 053 9430690.

Fairgreen Resource Centre
The Fairgreen Resource Centre is located to the rear of the Courthouse and is a purpose built social centre where you can relax and meet new people.
Tinahely Active Retirement Association meets every Tuesday morning from 10.30 am to 12.30 for coffee and a chat. The group runs a variety of activities and courses during the year along with annual outings. All are welcome to join.

Vincents's Community Shop is located on Barton Street and is open Tues to Sat from 11am to 4pm daily. It offers a wide range of household goods, quality clothes along with a host of other items ranging from giftware, to books, jewellery, collectables and vintage items.
Tinahely Craft market
The Tinahely Craft Market is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10am to 4pm. We have a great range of locally produced crafts made with lots of love and where possible using sustainable and local materials. These include soya candles and soaps, woodcraft, gorgeous embroidery, hand made jewellery, leather wallets and bags, amazing pottery and Upcycled and recycled quilts, cushions and bags. Also baby blankets using locally produced wool from Carnew. A great place to buy a gift for a friend or family or to treat yourself to an original beautiful piece of art.

Late-night drinking at Puck Fair survives court challenge with pubs to stay open until 3am
Puck Fair , one of Ireland's oldest festivals, will see its late-night drinking tradition survive for 2025 after an appeal by publicans in Killorglin succeeded at the Circuit Court in Killarney on Tuesday. The Co Kerry festival sees a goat crowned king for three days and three nights, with daytime activities and street entertainment alongside traditional late opening at pubs. Fourteen Killorglin publicans applied on July 10th to the District Court, sitting in Cahersiveen, for the annual special exemption to their licences over the three principal nights of the August event, known as Gathering (August 10th), Fair (August 11th) and Scattering (12th) However, gardaí objected on the grounds of straitened resources. District Court judge David Waters set closing time at 2am in line with the Garda submission, saying the fair was not all about drinking. READ MORE On Tuesday in the Circuit Court in Killarney, Judge Terence O'Sullivan said he saw no grounds to shorten Puck Fair's traditional drinking time. The fair dates to 1603, the last year of the reign of King James I of England, Judge O'Sullivan noted. Since the 1970s, the pub closing time at Puck has been 3am. 'Prior to that, there was a 24-hour opening of the pubs in Killorglin,' barrister Katie O'Connell, instructed by solicitor John O'Dwyer, had told the court. All-day and family activities took place and afterwards people would go for a drink, she said. Street entertainment ended at midnight and then the fair volunteers would like to go for a drink to relax and enjoy themselves. Puck Fair was 'bigger than Christmas' for people from the region, the barrister said. The statue of the Puck Goat sits at the entrance to the town and economically the festival is important to Killorglin. Only the gardaí, not the locals, had objected, Ms O'Connell added. Garda Supt John Ryan said Garda objections were twofold. The pubs received a 2am exemption the night before Puck Fair and gardaí felt four nights to 2am was sufficient; and having pubs open to 3am required additional police resources, making the reduction reasonable, he said. State solicitor Diane Reidy said the issue was one of resources, not public order, and Puck Fair was the only festival in Kerry seeking to open to 3am. In his decision, Judge O'Sullivan said the traditional opening had been to 3am, and there was no evidence of anyone in the locality objecting on noise or nuisance. He said he did not see any grounds to depart from the tradition.
